Week 14: Colts Week

  • A solid offense and a mediocre defense await us. This is just a game where you gotta plan to be in the high 20's to have a chance with the defense setting us up in good position like last week once, maybe twice. Luck is quickly going to the elite status but does throw some Int's (11 this year). Have to watch the guy with his legs too.

If Manziel get his number called I hope they start strong with the run to set up some boot leg PAP. That's where I really think he can be dangerous. If it's Hoyer it's all about starting him with confidence-quick throws to Gordon on smoke routes for example. Either way the run game has to and should work.

  • If we have no turnovers I could very easily see us hanging in this game with our defense. Our DB's have been on fire lately and I don't see that changing. I could very easily see Luck having his 2nd under 200 yard passing game, with the Colts being as one dimensional as they are might give us a good chance.

  • In fact the Browns are the first current top 10 team in pass defense Luck has faced this year.

  • 45-17 Colts

  • Only way to win is getting pressure right in Lucks face. The Colts online is very up and down but Luck himself is great at escaping pressure and making good decisions.

Thank god I think our Oline can win the LOS and run the ball. I still have a bad feeling trying to keep up with their offense.

Yup... DEs will have to have lane and depth discipline or Luck escapes pocket. Very dangerous on run whether ends up throwing or not. DE discipline is preferable to "spying".

O-line getting push to get run game going is big. Either QB choice will need ground game to set up PAP.

  • If Brian was starting this week, it would be kind of a generational St Ignatius QB thing......considering Lucks daddy(olly) preceded him there.....

  • We've been killed by backup RBs all year, I hope we don't make a star out that Colts guy with the 3.3 ypc.

    Zombo

  • Welcome back to Cleveland, Chud, DQ, Cribbs, T-Rich...anyone else?

We're gonna need to force a few turnovers, and start getting TDs rather than (missed) field goals.

Mike Adams.....safety.......spent a few years here...

  • Unless Hoyer gets a supply of limitless pills, I don't see this offense keeping up. The Browns only chance is to get considerable help from the D.

    1. Win the turnover battle

    2. Turn those turnovers into TDs

  • the redskins with colt mccoy scored 27 against these guys last week...so it can be done....we may need a few more than that though..statistically if you can score more than 28 points you usually win....i say aim for 30 and hope the defense holds them better than the skins defense did....luck tore their secondary up.....

Our defense is better. The key is getting pressure against luck. We know what our secondary is capable of but if you let luck set and stand in there for 5+ seconds every time even the best secondary will have a problem.

  • surprised Poetic G hasn't chimed in yet to talk about T Rich gashing his old team because he feels wronged, the same way that Greg Little did.

  • Yea I feel better Tate didn't wind up in Indy.

  • Trent doesn't bother me, Boom on the other hand might be an issue as a chain mover.

  • It's ironic, the Colts biggest advantage on offense is in the rushing game, while our biggest advantage on offense is in the passing game... doesn't seem to make sense...

It's the same gameplan as all year. We have to score points early to force them to become a one-dimensional offense. We don't have the personnel on D to stuff the rush. It just hasn't happened, and won't happen, so we have to score points in order to force them to pass the football. If we can get the Colts to abandon the run, I have full faith in our secondary to make Luck pay. If the Colts get a lead and can start running the ball... we're done...

If our offense doesn't start well, and score TDs,... our D has no chance. This will take a full team effort on both sides of the ball...

  • The offense needs to be able to run the ball and keep Luck off of the field.

When this happens is when we've had our most convincing wins (Cincy, Pittsburgh)

When buffalo started running more in the 2nd half is when our whole D started to fold.
