Continuing his audition to be the next James Harrison, Nigel Bradham tried to spear JM too as he dove into the endzone... rib pads plus not being anchored averted a repeat outcome.

A word to Nigel... You do not have James' thigh-size neck...

Greco was fined roughly half the amount for retaliating "roughly". I'd chip in for him stepping up....

    Aside:

Fines just do not do it for me when intent to injure is both apparent and successful. Suspension for the term of the injured player's absence seems right, but could be subject to significant gamesmanship.

I have been saying all along (thanks to guys like Harrison & Suh) that when a hit is as purposeful as the one on Barnidge, it should resut in immediate ejection & a suspension of 2 games MORE than the targeted player misses. IF they miss no games, the suspension stands at 2 games...PERIOD! Each offense after results in an extra game missed with a "3 strikes you're out" rule. Granted, some teams may take advantage, but then, if the dirty play didn't happen, neither would the punishment.

I understand it's harsh, but if Goodell is serious about protecting players, then quit changing the damn rules & enforce the ones that are there...STRICTLY!! Get the dirty players OFF the field & out of the game.

I agree with suspensions for idiots like Harrison Suh and Burfict. But if you start suspending based on injuries you have a lot of guys suspended for seasons. You would have a lot of people screaming about intention or no intention. Start suspending 2-6 based on the hit and stop fines. They do nothing to people that are making a million dollars a month

I'm not talking of suspending BASED on injuries. I am talking about when injuries result from flagrant dirty hits. Those type hits are easily spotted & infrequent, save for a few players that have made cheap shots intending to injure their MO.

Yea he should be suspended. He spear headed a down player and caused a rib injury. Definitely unacceptable and classless.

Or give the fine money to the injured player. I'm sure Gary could use an extra 16 grand.

Yes, lets just suspend everyone for hitting in a FOOTBALL game. Lets just make it fucking touch football.

Only for cheap shots dumbass. There are enough injuries each year even without the ones resulting from personal fouls..

They call personal fouls for looking the wrong way at a player now. Dumbass.

No no no. I'm not advocating suspending anyone that receives a 15 yd penalty in a game. Some are shitty calls. I want the NFL to review all games and suspend players for dirty plays whether they were flagged or not. Basically what they do now except adding a suspension when a dirty hit injures the opposing player.. There aren't that many egregious penalties in a season. The point is fines mean shit. Players hurt more when they miss games...

Why don't you go back & actually READ what has been stated instead of misreading & over reacting.

While I am concerned about intent judgements, but if they can do it to levy fines and the occasional suspension, then they be able to should for injury causing incidents.

The NFL should learn to round up. Or down.

I'll take that as a "no".

If I'm not mistaken all fines go to NFL charities. If that truly is the case, there is no fine, only a tax write off. Doesn't seem the "punishment" fits the crime.

    GO BROWNS !
