WTF Browns? Is this what it's like?

The Browns Board
19 15 993
  • We'll see what he's got next week, by god I hope he's electric too.

I was behind hoyer as much as anybody, but by the end of the first quarter I wanted him benched.

As to why it didn't cross pettines mind, idk. Most guys wouldn't pull their starter in a game they're winning I don't think - but pettine doesn't have to be like most guys.

Anyway, you aren't the first johnny rider around here, but if you act decent enough you'll get along fine.

  • bbedward - good point. I see things through my maroon colored glasses. I can understand coach not pulling Hoyer as the game was in hand, but to say it never crosse his mind is nuts. I mean, come on - he doesn't have to be such a Hoyer homer? If he would have said after the game "Yeah, I didn't pull Hoyer as we had the game in hand. I considered playing Johnny, but decided against it since our defense was kicking ass. Turns out Hoyer didn't do enough to help us win. Next week we'll see if Johnny can do a better job". That would have been a normal reponse, right?

  • They are like boy band groupies who just seem to multiply.

  • As a lifelong browns fan I was all but screaming for manziel by the end of quarter one.

And yes. Yes. That's sadly exactly how it is. Draw that feeling out for twenty years. Now wonder why we're so quick to dissent.

  • Didn't watch the game but was listening to it as I could at work and was getting many hoyer updates (most of my buddies back home wanted JF, a few hoyer fans lingered). By 2, everyone was admitting hoyer was sucking it up again. As for the reason he wasn't benched? We were winning the game. I don't agree with it, from what I heard johnny shoulda been in at the start of the 2nd half, but again, when winning a game, it is hard for a head coach to pull his starter that he just put his last faith in over the week. People need to get off pettine, in hindsight a big mistake, I wanted JF from the beginning of last week, but earlier in the year was fully behind hoyer. Mistake by pettine, but he is doing great for us overall this season, so everyone calm down.

As for your first post on the board, if you have been reading for a few weeks/months, I commend you on your massive balls. Self proclaimed JF fanboy, who didn't want him on the browns. Get ready to be ripped apart by the people here, but welcome I guess.

  • I think Hoyer has the goods on Pettine and Shanahan and maybe even Ray Farmer. Because Jay Gruden pulled the plug on a guy that cost them THREE first round picks and then some. Gruden just did it. He might get fired but he did what HE thought was good for the team. I admire that in any head coach. Gruden will likely lose his job come January but at least he acted like a man with stones.

you mean pettine doesn't have stones.....???

Are you pissed about another Aggie or another Manziel fan?

God almighty without the defense the score is 25-10. What was hoyer's rating this time? probably less than 50.

I got my seasons in 1964 with money I made from a Plain Dealer route. I kept them until I left in 1972 but aI have ramained a fan - I cried watching "The Drive", I screamed at "The Fumble" I fumed when Model took the money and ran. I have lived in Houston TX since 1981 and I chided the Oilers fans at their lack of interest when Adams ran to Tennessee and I will continue to support them with another moronic quarterback decision.

Hoyer should have been benched 2 games ago. - WOW we beat Cincy when Dalton couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with a shotgun at 20 paces. Where are we now?

I graduated from LSU back in 1980 and I jumped up and cheered when the Browns drafted Barkevious he is a beast and up until this game, has not been used properly. I appreciated the Manziel draft because I watched him tear up the SEC (most of y'all are stuck watching the big 10 which totally sucks - watch Meyer get destroyed by Saban again OMG - (BTW they're both former MAC coaches and both went to school in OHIO). I have no doubt that Manziel would have torn up the Colts.

Granted Johnny needed to mature a bit - you don't flip off the opposing teams bench - but it was still funny. On Fox today Howie chastized Johnny for going to the Cavs game Tues but I loved Johnson's take - It's not a bar, it's not illegal, leave the kid alone. College Station is not a hub of basketball activity.

As I watch the Texans march onward towards the Wild Card with Fitzpatrick of all people I still think that Pettine in an idiot.

  • Nah... this "one" feels different... give him a shot.

Leg, since he used "fanboy", I'll guess he's been reading some.

Welcome... I_p_B? ... even if your screen name falls well short of your posts' readability.

Should be apparent that your year-long frustration is nothing compared to a Browns' fan's cumulative levels. It's now likely, however, that yours will be abated before ours.

So be satisfied with that and forgive our HC for not quieting your apprehensions the minute after he got gut punched by the Colts.

And about the screen name... no worries. We can always get Z to fix that later... 😉

Not for lack of trying though... They have had some decent success on the Women's side.

    Welcome...

And fuck the PD... I slung The Press and slept in.

If you've been lurking for awhile, You have to realize this was Hoyer's last stand. He didn't measure up.

In 20\20 perfect hindsight Pettiine might well be an idiot- but throw the entire coaching staff and Farmer under the bus along with him.

Oh for the record, Hoyers qbr the last three games was 52, 51, 32. Worst in the NFL.

I don't much enjoy- if you look at my sig line of driving 425 miles in one day to have the feeling of impending doom the Browns are going to find yet another way to screw up a game by all rights they should have won.

The Browns defense played plenty well enough today- I said after the first defensive TD, the only way the Browns were going to beat the Colts is if the defense won the game for them, not Hoyer. I was at the game, and he played flat out terrible.

To restore some sanity- Manziel has to start next week.

I'm with you on the starter, h, but it's gonna take a while for that reason to soak in...

  • and either it will be a historic first start for a rookie bringing the whole fan base with him or just another let down with more questions than answers.

i'm not rooting against manziel, thats for gosh darn sure, but i wonder if these fanboys have what it takes to take the shit like they have flung against hoyer that will come their way if their boy lays an egg or will they disappear like a fart in the wind?

my money is disappear because these guys on this post waited until doomsday for hoyer to come in and start their rant. shows they don't have a bit of fight in them.

  • I have no doubt JF will make some rookie mistakes early in his career as all QB's do. But I also have no doubt people will wonder how that little shit does what he does when magic starts to happen. Call it intangibles or the "it factor" or whatever else you choose, this kid has it in spades and eventually it will rise to the top past all the expected early mistakes. Fasten your seatbelts for a roller coaster ride like you've never experienced before. You all got just a small taste of it last Sunday with one series leading to a TD and another a fumble that didn't count. Yeah call me fanboy if you want, but at some point next season you'll be asking for a membership card.

Were Browns fans and have been members all along.

Tis you and your boi that are seeking temporary membership.

Well see how it goes. Hope he earns his card here.
