What's wrong with Gordon

  • They cut his reps and he got targeted way less this week, but increasing Gabe and Benjamin's reps didn't help our offense today.

  • Cut his reps? Austin goes IR and we cut the reps of the only one close in stature to Austin?

    Not seeing the logic there...

    As for the OP...

More than the effort at the end of the route, my issue was shown by the high angle replay the prior 15 yards or so. Gordon was jogging with a DB on his hip. Turned out he was not quite as close to the limit of Hoyer's arm as he thought.

Can't lay blame for the loss at the feet of this one play... but it sure could have made the end game interesting.

  • Brian fucking Hoyer is what is wrong with Gordon, I can see some mutiny coming from inside the team. Especially from the defense, someone like Haden or Whitner might be the leader. Pet NEEDS to play JFF if he wants to win games, if we want to suck for a possible better draft pick then play Hoyer by all means.

What part of "It's a Gordon Thread" did you not understand?

  • Gordon was the one who texted to the reporter that he wanted Manziel to start.

    That and Hoyers passes sucked.

Gordon always "looks" like he's not trying.. his motion is so effortless.. his speed is effortless.. thats how good he it.

Gordon dove for the pass at the end.. the rest of the day... he was fine.. Brian just kept missing him

They did, I was wondering how many plays he was out in the tavern seems like it was quite a few.

Pettine got asked about it, said it was a rotational thing with Gabe and Benji.

And PGL, for plays where he does go half ass or run the wrong route, Gordon needs the blame not the QB. Hoyer isn't an excuse for Gordon's effort/play.

  • Speaking of Benjamin, I'm not a huge fan of how many snaps he gets (which isn't many) because I think Gabriel is a much more talented receiver. Benjamin dropped a a couple passes today if I'm remembering correctly.

  • If you look at the replay, Gordon stumbles as he comes out of the stop and go route. It's just one step but that's the difference in catching a pass that is one foot in front of you. I know people say he is fast but just looks slow, but I don't remember him looking so slow last year. It just looks like he's got cement shoes on - lumbering rather than sprinting. Are we sure he's not nursing a groin pull?

  • The last throw to Gordon was uncatchable. Even Dion Sanders agreed. Look where that ball was thrown. Come on! We waited for Gordon and now expect miracles from a struggling inaccurate Hoyer. He overthrew, under threw and was just plain lousy. He's starting to bring back Brandon Weeden memories and even Weeden got the ball to Gordon.

  • To quote Howard Beal: I'm Mad as Hell and not gonna take it anymore!"

    It could happen

Gordon told reporters last week that exact same thing. He said it looks like he's slow. Believe me he's trying.

OK... then explain how the DB on Gordon's hip was jogging at midfield and yet Gordon was not pulling away.

Benji dropped one for sure... a 3rd and something out route went right thru his arms. But I think Benji has been pretty good this year and had his best return game today. Good to see his return game again.

kk... I was thinking practice reps during the week for some reason.

Chris Carter was just thinking Gordon may have been "fatigued" as players often hit a wall in their 3rd pre-season game and it's Josh's 3rd game back...

  • All the Hoyer apologist crack me the fuck up with how phony they can be.

"Brian Hoyer got us to 7-4 without Josh Gordon!!!!"

    "Wait until Gordon's back!!!"

Gordon comes back and all the sudden he's the problem and Hoyer isn't.

I agree with Columbus King, I swear to god I think a mutiny is happening and Pettine started losing the locker room today.

Maybe we should blame Dion for Hoyer's demise. He's the one who talked him up as a 100 million dollar QB after the Cincy game.

  • I don't want to sit here and make comparisons, but the way the guy plays is similar to Randy Moss. It looks like he isn't going 100% out there, but the talent makes up for it. I don't fault him for the late catch there. Hoyer and him aren't on the same page, at all.

  • I assume it's the difference between rehearsal and live playing experience.
