Jeremy Hill ran his mouth about the Browns?

Jeremy Hill appeared to possess this boldest of attitudes Thursday night after the Cleveland Browns smacked the Cincinnati Bengals on their home field for a nationally televised 24-3 win.

The Bengals rookie running back told ESPN.com's Coley Harvey(h/t NFL.com's Kevin Patra) that besides winning, the Browns didn't do anything special on the football field.

"Oh no, not at all. They're probably worse than I thought," Hill told Harvey. "They didn't do anything special to me. I mean, respect to them, they won the game. But that's all I'll give them."

Ah yes, I forgot about the post-smack talk, for lack of a better description. Hard to smack talk when you just got your ass handed to you.

I was thinking he had something to say about the upcoming match.

    Just like all of us...

  • Is this the appropriate time to point out that while our (maybe) starting QB on Sunday is short.....it is HIS starting QB that played like a Mental Midget the last time these two teams met?

  • Well, if Johnny is a midget, then reports are this this is a very frequent point of view for him:

    eyes-up-here-buddy-yes-its-a-midget-joke

  • Beatem by 60 this time !

  • i'm a sadomasochist....so please keep playing hoyer......oh the suffering....it hurts so good......

  • well now they're saying that JF is ready, which means that Hoyer served his purpose. The writing was on the wall from day one that Manziel was the future and that he was also raw. Hoyer lead this team to some good wins and gave manziel time to acclimate himself to the NFL. Its a shame that the change wasn't made yesterday as even slight competence from the QB position would've secured a win. The past is in the past and now we'll see if he is actually ready to lead an NFL team or just receiving lip service from his OC and QB coach. I'm praying for the former. Go Browns!

Agree Royce, except that "ready" is not an absolute term. Hoyer has been making JM look "readier" for a while now and the Colts game just may have put him across the ready threshold.

Raise the drawbridge or lower the river? Or a bit of both...

Every indication out of Cleveland is Johnny Manziel. Now we just wait for Browns HC Mike Pettine to make it official.

Isn't that what Shefter said last week?

  • Pettine may use the excuse that the Browns beat the Bengals with Hoyer before, but that again was due to the defense and not anything spectacular Hoyer did. Hoyer got his shot against the Colts and couldn't produce, Colt McCoy looked better against the Colts' secondary. If Pettine isn't afraid to bench others for poor performance (like the running backs and Justin Gilbert) why is he so hesitant on benching Hoyer? It makes me wonder if he knows something we don't about Manziel. In any case, Manziel should get the start; Hoyer has regressed too far and the Colts game was his last chance. I can't imagine the locker room still supporting Hoyer after defense played their hearts out and still came away with a loss.

Can only say what Pet has said publically... you are more patient with QB play. I suspect that patience ran out last Sunday, but that's mostly because mine did.

As for Hoyer's most recent performance vs. Cinci... It was 15/23 for 198 w/ 0 TD & 0 INT.

Because Pettine is a Defense minded HC, I think if you could guarantee those would be BH's numbers this coming Sunday, then he'd start Hoyer again in a heartbeat.

The issue is the "guarantee" expired a month ago...

    Go Browns...

  • Made me laugh pretty hard. Thanks, Marvin!

Screw him and his apology. I would love to see one of our guys momentum on the field "accidentally" take him directly into Marv. Seeing him speared on the sideline would be beyond awesome.

  • The Browns organization should react quickly and capitalize on this for crowd noise. They should print and hand out signs with our midget Brownie elf flipping the bird saying "Midget This" lol.

Didn't one of his own players run him down in the Thursday night game?

you're such a little twit. all you did sunday was bitch and moan like a dark cloud over everything that was going on. there has to be 20 examples on this forum of you saying that haslam could fire pettine and he should hire harbaugh. well if you don't want haslam to fire pettine and hire harbaugh then why mention it so much.

you lying now or is it just your little pussy game of words?

Shrimp sandwich, shrimp stew, pineapple shrimp...do you ever have any clue what you're talking about or are you just winging it out there like Johnny after a night of coke and hookers?

Nope. Pettine should dicipline the boy. 10:55 on game day? Sorry, Hoyer acts more like a pro. Johnny Bench acts like a college boy. Probably out all night drinkin. Hoyer gets the call. 2-0 against cincy... johnny Bench still hasn't looked at the playbook. Pettine knows something we don't. He know's Johnny's not ready, not diciplined, not focused, & is not going to take the gameplan seriously. I don't care abput hype, everyone is smokin the hype pipe. That never works. Ever. Never ever.

I really don't get this line of thinking. If he's told to be at the stadium by 11 then that's that. Everything I've read about Manziel is that he's followed the team rules and has been a professional while at the facility. As long as he doesn't pop dirty on a drug test or get arrested, he should be able to do whatever he feels like on his own time.

Hoyer probably is light years ahead of Manziel concerning the playbook, but if he lacks the ability to execute it on Sunday what good is that doing anyone . . . Certainly none for our Defense. Shanahan and others in the organization have said they feel that they can put a gameplan together that Manziel should be able to execute.

Hoyer's been given every chance to slam the door on Manziel, and hasn't capitalized on them . . . Which is a shame cause I was really pulling for the guy. But to put him out there cause he studies harder and watches more film, just to spite your first round draft pick, and hopefully future franchise QB of your team is just plain stupid. Especially when you have 52 other guys busting their balls for you every week.

I strongly suspect is the idea to inspire greatness. If you told Manning be at the stadium no later than 11, he's there at 9am. That's the type of man you want your QB, regardless of his place on the depth chart, to be.

  • Place will be fucking rocking. I Can say having season tix and seeing Hoyer all year, I am certainly more excited for this game than any other.

If the d keeps playing lights out there is no way Johnny can't thrive off turnovers from Mr Redhead
