Do you ever make it down to the Bowling Green area?
Some weekends we go down to the bars there, I went on a date with a girl down there a few weeks ago.

Watched football all my life. Proud Cowboy fan. I dont watch college football but caught one of the A&M games by accident and one player instantly caught my attention. He reminded me of Tony Romo. A souped-up version. I have no doubts his game translates to the NFL. Only variables is how long it takes and if he can stay healthy.
Wow, my thoughts exactly. Romo against Denver last year reminded me of Johnny.

Man, I have a lot of confidence in Manziel's abilities, but you make me look like a detractor. I've never seen a college player quite like him, but you're glossing over some things as well. He looked completely baffled by the LSU defense last year (yeah, I know, thumb injury), and he absolutely did throw a few bad interceptions, including a particularly unnecessary one against Alabama at home when we were ahead. You say he'll rarely get hit. It depends; if he plays with the total abandon that he played with in college, where he was pretty much more agile than anyone else on the field, he might killed. If he's a little more judicious than that, and learns not to go for broke on every play, then he might make it.
I'm totally pumped, but it's got the potential to be a little rocky. He's a smart kid; hopefully he's become a more patient one as well.
I'll admit I might have set the bar high, but I have a track record winning bets about Johnny.
LSU had his number, no doubt. The int against bama was a terrible play by the receiver, ran a bad route and let the corner pick it. Big play for sure.
I guess I'm just tired of all the people expecting him to fail, so I just wanted to put forth a little optimism.
I went overboard, hope I'm right.

LSU has one of the smartest defensive coordinators in the NCAA in Chavis. He made the proper adjustments. Have Barkevious Mingo and Montgomery hold the outside and rush 3 up the middle. They held him scoreless in the second half both times they played. In fact A & M has yet to beat LSU since they joined.
All Johnny had that second year was Evans. With the best secondary in college football ( all 4 were drafted and are playing in the NFL every Sunday - and we have Barkevious in Cleveland- LSU (LSU- '80 grad) played havoc on many oassing games.
I think Johnny will tear Cincy up especially if Dalton plays his usual crappy game.

I don't see em cutting Brian. Can't imagine he's been that bad as these unknown sources suggest.
If we do, we pick up Grossman maybe?

I don't think JF will get killed. Nobody said that about Russell Wilson and he's shorter than Manziel. Also Drew Bree's is only 6'0" and he's a hall of famer. This gives the organization a chance to look ahead and see what we need in the draft. Like they should have back in May when they drafted Manziel.

You're citing Big-10 QB's. On this board the Big 10 is infallible. Johnny has football semse you can't teach. Look at the TD run against Buffalo. He knew he was going to get hit so he turned his back to that side in mid air to protect himself. That is instinct.
BTW, Johnny played in the SEC and most of the country is sick of how dominating they have been since 2005. Many of the posters here have no idea about the depth and intensity of SEC football. OSU comes somewhat close but as for the rest - LSU beat Wisconsin with a bunch of freshmen in their first game ever. What does that say.
Sit back and watch JFF run roughshod over Cincy and pass like a demon. Marvin Lewis won't know what hit him and he sure won't have an answer. Midget indeed.

You sign him and trade him to Houston where he can be reunited with coach O'Brien for Andre Johnson and Whitney Mercilus (underused Illinois linebacker).
What about prying Dilfer out of the broadcast booth (ha ha)

He has good awareness of the field when running and in the pocket, but there's more to being a QB.
That run showed it, for sure (our RBs have had issues with switching the ball at the wrong time, or not switching it when they should). Awareness like that is a strength, no doubt.
NFL prospects from the SEC havent seemed to dominate over prospects from other conferences, I think that's the view of this board. We know sec has dominated the bcs in recent years, but this is the NFL.

Trying to ignore idiots like Dukes, and give a prediction. I usually don't like doing predictions, but Johnny's never let me down.
Johnny is going to be so much better than Hoyer, it won't be funny. He will be making most of you say, "Holy shit, why did we wait so long??!!" He will throw for 250+ and run for 70, and will RARELY GET HIT. He'll lead the offense to 30+ points and almost 500 yards.
"He's too small." He's always been small and he's never walked onto a field where he wasn't the best player on it.
"He'll make rookie mistakes." Yes, he will, but not nearly as many as most expect. He's very careful with the ball when the situation calls for it. Too often in college he knew the defense sucked and he had to take risks to score points. He will not be overly risky with the Browns stud defense.
"He doesn't know the playbook." You are truly a fucking idiot if you think this.
"You're just a fanboy, you don't know what you're talking about." I am a fan of Johnny, yes. I'm also a football fan since the early 70's. I've seen all that could be seen in that time, and I'm telling you, Johnny is special. He's the only one of his kind that I've ever seen. He's not tebow, flutie, Vince young, or any other comparison you could make. I will not be surprised if the Browns win these last 3 games relatively easily.
In Aaron Rodgers' word, "relax", Johnny's got this.

Well, since you just joined- I'll forgive you for your blind optimism. Thing is, we've been hearing the exact same arguing points from different posters about ten times over ever since Manziel got drafted.
See this is the kind of unbridled fanboy mancrush bs we can do without here in Cleveland. No offense dude you're probably a good guy, but gtfo with this bullshit. It's not constructive. All this kind of hype does is set us up for failed expectations. We do this with every new QB we bring in to town. Your post right here is "exactly" why I didn't want Manziel to start for at least 2 years....cause this kind of hype no QB can live up to. Neither Rodgers nor Brady would have ever panned out here in Cleveland under these kind of expectations. Can we please not setup up JM for failure? All of you JM fans should be the first guys to be saying "hey let's curb our expectations he's a rookie". If we lower the bar and he exceeds it, hey..great. And you're only throwing out the 30+ points figure cause the offense has scored close to that with Hoyer as the QB. You cannot come out and proclaim with any kind of straight face that no question Johnny puts 30+ points on the Bengals. Who by the way will be looking to utterly annihilate him. They'll give up some big plays just to get to him early. They know if they get in his head early the games over.
Agree with about 90% of your post.
This is exactly why I posted.
I don't fucking care about the past failures of Browns qb's. I don't care if my prediction makes me look like a fanboy. I have what is called "faith". You guys amaze me with your lack of it, but I know better. No matter how many people try to downplay the Buffalo td drive, that is who he is and what he'll do time and time again. Call me names now, tell me I'm wrong or don't know, I don't care.
GET FIRED UP!!! One of the most exciting players to ever put on pads is about to start for the Browns. Fuck weeden,, fuck McCoy, fuck all the past, a new era is beginning.
Those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it- and FWIW, I go back even farther than you- to the early 60s. Call it caution, call it cynicism, call it seeing way too many great college quarterbacks completely bomb out in the pros- and not just on the Browns either. And as I like to point out- if Manziel was every bit as good as you're making him out to be- he wouldn't have gotten past the Texans @ #1 overall, and their phone would have been ringing off the hook with trade up offers- so there.
I think Johnny is going to be a really good QB in this league.
I HOPE Johnny is going to be a really great QB in this league.

Guess what? Evey NFL team has defensive coordinators as good as LSU's. Bill B of the Patriots has forgotten more about defense than most college guys know. How many college coaches have made the jump to the pros, flopped, and became studs again back in college? Start with Saban and Kiffen.
Um every NFL team has three or four linebackers as good as Mingo, in some cases a LOT better. Barky as of yet is quite ordinary in the Pros.
So excuse me if I'm going to need to see more than one nice drive against a prevent defense before I anoint JF as the second coming of Fran Tarkenton. And it will take more than a couple of games too. Took defensive coordinators around 8 to catch up with Hoyer, and about the same number to figure Derek Anderson out. In the Browns favor is the opposition doesn't have much tape on Manziel- yet. BTW, even I know- from our pre-draft discussions of JFF- his completion % drops way off if you force him to roll to his left- think the Bengals defensive coordinator doesn't know that?

The Texans not drafting him has mothing to do with how good he is or will be. Every team passed on Tom Brady and Joe Montana at least once. Does that mean they weren't good?
Manziel is SO good that he's the only qb under 6 feet to be drafted in the first round in over 50 years. Teams are scared of small qb's, that's why so many passed on him.
As well as lsu did against Johnny, the Aggies could have won in 2012, maybe should have won. In 2013, Johnny played with a fractured thumb.
As for rolling to his left, I've seen few better at throwing while rolling left, so I'm not sure where you're getting that. I can think of 4 of his most famous Aggie highlights happening while rolling left. He rolled left against Buffalo once and threw a perfect pass to Austin.
