I used to have some memorabilia from the 1999 Browns expansion draft....but I gave those to my neighbors son who had a greater passion for memorabilia than I had. No charge.

That was awfully nice Gip. I hope he remembers you and "passes it on" like they say.

There was a program and maybe a button and one other piece that I can't recall. First pick in that draft: Jim Pyne OG. I doubt there was a lot of value to the stuff as no one really of much consequence was obtained from that draft. Antonio Langham was probably the best known name.

  • Back around '83 I remember reading a little blurb in the Sporting News naming some church just outside of Cleveland at whose fund-raiser they'd raffled off an ball autographed by the entire Browns team for $500.. story went on to explain that Mrs. Sam belonged to the church and Coach had donated the ball for the cause... I sent Sam a letter c/o the Browns with a check inside made out to the church for $750 and asked if I could have a ball too. Several weeks later, UPS showed up at my door.... There's Sipe... there's Chip Banks... Puzuolli... Reggie Camp.. Bam Bam... Clarence Scott...Tim Stracka (remember him Gips?)... all of 'em... Still a prized possession. And a heck of a story...

  • I have a Browns blanket that my great Aunt owned. She passed away and I got it when we were cleaning out her apartment. I use it every night when I go to bed

  • I also have all the cheap stuff they give the season ticket holders. 2 scarves, 2 hats, some pins, and other stuff, and a lot of used tickets

  • I have a bunch of jerseys of guys who aren't here anymore

  • I have Mr. Paul Warfield's autograph. He appeared at the Ashe Center in Va after retiring from the nfl.

  • Couple old Annual yearbooks put out by the team. Plus a scrapbook of PD clippings from the early 60's... All packed away somewhere...

Also packed away a multi-autographed copy of the program of the '64 teams Hiram reunion in '89 I believe... the 25th anniversary.

Autographs included: Vince Costello, Bob Gain... want to say Bernie Parrish and Galen Fiss as well... probably a few others. Very leisurely with these guys... got to chat with each of them about this or that memory of them.

I remember telling Costello he was the reason I played LB in HS. It was even true. He seemed surprised and maybe a little pleased, so I did not tell him that I was not a starter on D... or that I wore Hickerson's 66.

Most of the team sat at tables outside and were free. The big names, lead by JB, went into the gym and were charging for their sigs. Not much, but the lines were too long. If I'd had my #32 throwback then tho...

Best Browns item I ever laid hands on was at a gathering at the house of one of the regulars at the Time Out #2 in Pasadena, TX. Rather than go to the bar we gathered at his house to watch our "final" game in '95. Ernie was his name I think.

He had an original Paul Brown game plan book from the late 50's. It was a hardbound book of maybe 60 pages... pretty full... all for one game. Absolutely immaculate condition and entries.

Notes on the opponent, week's practice schedule, practice notes for players, play notes, what was in, what was out... it was hella cool to leaf through.

Oh, to have had a camera device of some kind... but it was '95.

  • if you're ever in sandusky ohio go to cameo pizza. their bar is made up of local HS and college team's helmets with a big slant towards the browns.

    a must see.
