  • I watched the replay of that penalty and just don't get it? Does anyone else think that cost us the game? The refs are ruining the game.

Yes, I do think we would have won the game if that foul is not called, but that is speculative.

I was a great ply by Kruger, and totally clean. The ref who called it was BEHIND Luck, so all he saw was Luck's head snap back and he threw the flag. Had he been in front, he would have seen it was a textbook hit by Krug who pounded him down with his forearms before the helmets ever touched.

  • I didn't like the call, but had the benefit of replay. I can see why it was called. Just wish it wasn't.

  • I definitely seemed like all the energy and momentum we had got destroyed like popping a balloon when it got called.

  • Which made the missed field goal even more painful.

  • Another good example of why the replay challenge rules suck. Everything should be reviewable. If this was reviewed it would be reversed.

  • Since that is an automatic ejection of the player in college, it is automatically reviewed to see if it is indeed targeting. Big Mo. lost their best DE early in the game last week against Alabama for a verified targeting of the QB. Do they not do the same for the pros (verify targeting)?

    At the 0:45 mark:

  • It shouldn't have needed to be reviewed. Another official should have had the good sense to pick the flag up and over rule him

  • Im not gonna blame the flag. We couldn't get a first down which was the bigger issue. Bad call, but let's look at the things we can control.

  • How does Goodell still have a job? I mean really. He is a damned liar if I've ever seen one.

Z, I am still not convinced the helmets ever touched. But the various angles do vary that impression.

Well since targeting and ejection is not a part of the NFL rule... there's that... The current targeting ejection is an extension of the original "targeting rule" which was the NCAA's version of the NFL "defenseless receiver" rule.

There were multiple calls during the 2013 college season where the review not only cleared the defender of any targeting foul voiding the potential ejection, but also showed there was no foul at all. There was talk of the NCAA extending the review to the actual "targeting personal foul" part, but that never happened. It should...

And the NFL should allow review it's defenseless calls as well... be it via the challenge system of other means.

MLB has done it and yet their game has survived...

  • From the replays I saw last sunday it looked like Kruger dipped his helmet at the last split second. That's leading with the crown. Kruger really didn't need to dip his helmet either, that sack was his. Sucks but it happens. Guys gotta learn, you never let your eyes drift from your target...even through impact. The calls that infuriate me are when guys do keep their eyes up but they still get called for their facemasks making contact first with the QB's helmet.
