The positive Bengals post game thread

The Browns Board

  • Last week l think l jumped all over the shit of the guy attempting this. Sorry Mud. And l totally understand if none of you are having it, and feel free to direct your insults at me.

And what can l say? Not a lot of positives here. But we at least get a gleam of the future.

Today l saw a QB trying to figure out the pro game, and it didn't go well. My observations are less about Johny Manziel though, and more about how the other players reacted to having Johnny Manziel as their QB.

I think the rest of the offense responded better when Hoyer was under center. More fire from the line in keeping the defense offa him, and a better chemistry with the receivers.

All of that is understandable considering the amount of time Brian has had to work with the O compared to the 1 week Manziel has had.

This is the time we need to see something from our coaching staff. They made their choice and need to stick with it. My hope is that a combination of 2 things will happen.

Manziel needs to adjust to the pro game. Badly. He needs to swivel his head around a bit more to throw the opposing defense off. He needs to realize that the other team is faster than college, and find the open yards where he can.

The other thing is the rest of the players need to adjust to him. 80% of the team's job is to destroy the opposing team, and l just didn't see it today. The defense was flat, and the blockers on offense were too.

It all comes down to buying into your lot in life. If you have faith that Johnny can lead you to a championship, then you have a chance. If not, then the whole team has no chance.

I am far from a Johnny guy, more of a seeing is believing guy. Today l saw a team that didn't believe.

    That was positive, right?

    Close... but no...

Robertson played well. Bryant did as well. Spencer Lanning punted well

I think as a group our LBs played decent ball. Robertson's INT was athletic albeit on a bad throw as the target was open and behind the d (stay positive, Tour)...

But for a bend at the waist Mingo's pummeling of Dalton would have inspired.

Kruger got another and pressured fairly effectively.

In the secondary, Skrine played like a blood relative of Haden and Leonard showed some nice run support in the 2nd half.

On the other side... West posted a 4.6 YPC average.

Meh... I gave the whole positive thing a whirl anyway...

10 cheers to you IBB....really....I see where youre comin from....🙂

Sadly, today, I've no Mudshine to spread.......

Ok...Desir and Gilbert held their own after Haden went down.......thats a step......😉

    Thats all I got.....

Yeah, l don't have much either. Just not in the mood for bitching and attacking anyone today.

The Wonder Years was a good show though.

    Oh I hope you're right!

I think they'll stay the course for a while longer though.....it should certainly take more than 1 game to make all that manlove fade away......

This week.....excuses....pleas for more time.....words about rookies and poor team play....etc....

I will say we gave Brian time, even when he looked bad.....BUT it was always predicated on the fact that he was winning......lets not forget that

  • Positives today are as follows:

  • Lost the last 3 home games, no positives at all.

Oh yeah? I'm gonna google that. And then maybe ogle that if you're right.

Google ogle! Say that 3 times fast. It's EZ.

  • I never wanted the Browns to select Manziel in the first place, but I'm not here to gloat or say "I told you so". I'm here to say, calm the fuck down.

It was his first game against a team that has been looking forward to today since Nov. 6th. The entire team shit the bed. It wasn't like "oh, I'm too lazy to get up and go to the bathroom" shit the bed, it was a Stephen King's Dreamcatcher bed-shitting, with a carnivorous alien worm boring its way out of the team's collective asshole leaving nothing but a withered husk in it's wake. I'm not making excuses for John as he deserves as much blame as the D that would've given up 100 rushing yards to a slinky.

The Main point, I guess is that our personal opinions of JCF mean jack-shit, the hard fact of the matter is that he represents a 1st round pick for the team we love. I know some of you would just as soon tie Manziel and Gilbert up in a giant burlap sack and toss it into lake erie, but as they say: patience is a virtue.

  • P.S. the Browns will still win as many playoff games as the Bengals this year, just like last year, and the year before and so on...

Exactly...I respect the fact that people can disagree about a pick. I think JF will be a stud, and some don't. But pretending as some on here do that he has two games to 'prove something or else' as if he is an undrafted free agent is not reasonable.

  • Natty came prepared to play, We only prepared JF into starter. Ray Mali Nuka was out last game and he leads Natty's D. Man that was obvious. Off tape Natty changed there OL and DL sceams totally from 1st game, Double OL pulls killed us. As for JF, The pass to Gabriel was LATE causing a hit that caused incompletion, ball delivered on time 18 has 2-3 step to run. When JF got thur the trash in the pocket and stepped up, he could see, There was and STILL IS hope to get the ball to a receiver with timing and touch which he lacks, BUT R E L A X Brownsnation it's still only 1 game that takes 52 players. GO BROWNS!!

I, too, shared your hopes, but alas once I read about how we had to draft to support JM, I knew we had to hunker down for a protracted siege.

And boy, I was excited.....really excited.

And now, Im just disappointed. Feel let down. Wish he showed just a sliver of something good. We've been here before and its not a great place to be.

If I hear one more person tell me how GREAT he is... or will be..... I think I will have a brain hemorrhage and die.

JFF didn't get hurt when he went head-first into a LB in one of his pee-his-pants scrambles in the 2nd half, so, for the time being, he's our starter for at least the next 18 games.

Considering the offense got 5 first downs and the injuries, I'm still positive about our D and what it can look like week 1 of next season.

No JFF only got THREE first downs- the refs gave us the other two.

Talk about a long shot 😛

Dolphins have to lose to vikings or jets, which I'm not so sure about. Also jaguars beating Texans not gonna happen.

Anyway, let's see if we can go 9-7. Would be good if the team keeps playing hard for Pettine.

    Let me sum this up:

We HAVE to win our last two

49ers HAVE to beat the Chargers.

Texans HAVE to beat the Ravens.

Chiefs HAVE to beat the Steelers.

Raiders HAVE to beat the Bills

Jaguars HAVE to beat the Texans

Chiefs HAVE to beat the Chargers

Patriots HAVE to beat the Bills

Bengals HAVE to beat the Steelers

And, Dolphins need to those to EITHER the Vikings or the Jets.
