The draft is the hardest part of NFL football but also the most important. If this team had an average record in the first round, we would be playoff bound for sure. Green Bay is by far the most effective at drafting great players. The Browns need to figure out what they're doing wrong in this area and fix it.

Again I would lay that blame at the feet of the inconsistency of this franchise. We've certainly had our share of miscues in the draft but when you change the regime as often as we do they will naturally Get Rid of any player that isn't one of their own. We see it regime after regime as we ponder the reasons why they would let [insert name of player who goes on to play well for someone else] go.

Plus when you draft in the top 5 or 10 d misses seeing a lot worse than your 15 through 30.

    Here's the real issue.

When you're short on talent, high first round picks are SUPPOSED to be impact players. Gilbert was SUPPOSED to come in, beat out Buster and give us the most feared secondary in the league freeing up an extra person to rush the an/ stuff the run.

    It didn't happen.

For such a high profile draft pick to not only fail to make the desired impact, but also fail to even see significant time, REALLY makes our scouting department look like a bunch of idiots.

A first round pick is supposed to be a no brainer, an instant starter unless your team is overflowing with talent, which we're not.

So to blow 2 1st round picks in the SAME YEAR REALLY, REALLY makes the scouting department look like a bunch of morons.

Something is desperately wrong with them, or Jimmy is barking orders and making them look bad. I don't know, pick one.

Watch what you say, in here the opinion is you have to be a combination of Superman and a rocket scientist to play corner in the NFL.

Given the rule changes or should I say emphasis on calls - Yeah, you pretty do have to be that combination.

About what, periennially taking terrible first rounders? It's part of the problem with this franchise, and it's ridiculous.

    Meanwhile back at the thread...

Seems both of our 1st rounders are singing the same tune...

Meanwhile a certain Mr. Skrine that Steve mentioned is in the FA Catbird's seat.

Give Skrine a good contract. Keep Gilbert and Manziel on an extremely short leash and hope for the best.

Yep. Think it would be bad business letting Skrine get away. In the article posted by Tour and the video posted below, he basically says what I heard Hoyer saying earlier in the season....." I plan to start".....and he is in EXACTLY the same situation that Hoyer was(is), which is playing ahead of a first round pick.....he knows they WANT Gilbert to play, like Hoyer feels they wanted JFF to play.....

so....does he sign here and continue to hear about Gilbert or go elsewhere where he "could" be the best CB on the team?

Watch the video and tell me, based upon his answers, if you think he sounds hesitant about saying he'll be back.....(I do)

I hear him saying I like it here, but....i want to start at CB and dont want to play nickle....

Excuses. Nut up. This team was 7-4 and is about to finish at 7-9.

Coach said he regressed and had a bad week of practice, hence the reason Desir started....

Honestly, I dont care WHO starts and am just happy we have fixed the DB's. The way I see it, we went into the draft trying to fix the CB situation. Picked the one with the highest ceiling, then got a few more as back up. So, as long as Farmer got it covered, who cares which one plays most or is ready to play first.???

Gilbert may still end up being the best one.....you never know.....

But if we subscribe to this line of thinking we will have one less thing to wring our hands over. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not comfortable unless there is a doomsday scenario lurking around every corner.

Furthermore, who are you to say something as silly as "you never know"?! I always know! I can take even the most mundane piece of media flair and plot a no-bones-about-it-set-in-stone prediction prophecy spanning decades.

Gilbert has been in the league for almost EIGHT MONTHS! He will never be anything more than he is now, book it.

WHOOOO! complaining makes my dick hard!

Not dominate but playing ahead of 4th round rookies when the position is depleted.

"True Browns Fans" never blame the talent on the the field, always the coaches

Something tells me the Farmer transition isn't going so well.

For these rookies (Gilbert & Manziel) to behave the way they do with lack of effort and energy speaks volume. There is something culturally wrong in this organization from TOP DOWN.

Totally disagree. Out of all our draft picks and free agent signings, only 2 of them have shown they aren't ready for the NFL. That is NOT indicative of a team culture problem.
