Considering the Fields they have control over produce roughly 400,000-500,000 barrels a day(out of 85mil world wide) and that the $20 barrels are resold by the smugglers(black market) I doubt it is having major effect on the market.

Though it does help ISIS fund its army.

It definitely isn't the only reason. OPEC isn't cutting production which probably plays a bigger factor. I just thought it was an interesting perspective that nobody here seems to talk about.

It is definitely interesting, specially reading were the groups that are fighting ISIS(Kurds and Sunnis tribes) are profiting from them by taxing the oil transport. OPEC not slowing production, US and Canada increasing production(fracking and oil sands), a shift in consumerism from the west(to more fuel efficient vehicles) and a leveling out of Chinese growth(according to the article).

no shit. And since it costs the Saudis pennies on the dollar compared to fracking they can afford to sell for less. We can't. And the Ruskies need the money so they are fucked too.

The US media is reporting it is because Saudi Arabia is increasing production. I doubt ISIS controls enough oil to have a major affect.
