2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:
A) Somebody in the history of mankind
Somebody alive during your lifetimeC) Some fictional character
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
Here are my Survey questions for this week:
My own answers:
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
I think they should be. They get them wrong so often. My only concern is that I don't know if the guys in the booth could get it right any better than the refs on the field.
2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:
A) Somebody in the history of mankind.. Vatsyayana would not be a bad choice...who wrote this:
After reading and considering the works of Babhravya and other ancient authors, and thinking over the meaning of the rules given by them, this treatise (the Kamasutra) was composed, according to the precepts of the Holy Writ, for the benefit of the world, by myself Vatsyayana, while leading the life of a religious student at Benares, and wholly engaged in the contemplation of the Deity. This work is not to be used merely as an instrument for satisfying our desires. A person acquainted with the true principles of this science, who preserves his Dharma (virtue or religious merit), his Artha (worldly wealth) and his Kama (pleasure or sensual gratification), and who has regard to the customs of the people, is sure to obtain the mastery over his senses. In short, an intelligent and knowing person attending to Dharma and Artha and also to Kama, without becoming the slave of his passions, will obtain success in everything that he may do.'
Somebody alive during your lifetime...Hugh Hefner wouldn't be a bad choiceC) Some fictional character Superman. Why not. What is better than fighting for truth, justice and the American way. Its what I have been doing for years.
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
Yes, based on what I saw the other night. He did all the things that BR used to do to beat other teams. And among ugly people he eats BR out as well.....and that is hard to do.
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
Absolutely. 8 teams would be great. Automatic bids to the winners of the Power 5 conference and 3 Wildcards. That Michigan State/Baylor game showed how awesome a game like that could be if it involved a playoff.....otherwise it was a meaningless exhibition game that I only checked out minimally. Had it been for something I may have watched the whole thing.
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
A. Alex Mack injury....and DL/DB injuries.
B. Hoyer going into the dumpster after Mack was injured
C. Gordon's suspension
D. On the positive side: the overall talent on the team when healthy (though there is clear lack of talent at most critical position)
E. Seemingly Front Office/Coaching stability.....though this may be more important next year.
(Oh, yea....JFF was not a factor at all)
-
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
No.....Too many play stoppages as it is.....
2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:
A) Somebody in the history of mankind....Ben Franklin....super interesting man....and I like kites Somebody alive during your lifetime....Dick Proenneke.....lived off the land for 30 years in an Alaskan cabin...a simple life that appeals to me..C) Some fictional character....Capt Kirk.......would enjoy cruising the Enterprise at hyper speed....
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
Nope. Right now, Ben looks like the only top tier QB in the division
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
Im good with 4 teams
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
1) Positive.....new FO and coaching staff have created accountability
2) Positive.....new RB's have helped with offensive balance
3) Positive.....2 words....Joe Bitonio
4) Negative....Terrible QB play
5) Negative....Injury/terrible play by O line
-
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
Yes... as should helmet to helmet and roughing the passer.
2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:
A) Somebody in the history of mankind
Teddy Roosevelt - packed so much living into one lifetime that it must have felt like three...
B. Somebody alive during your lifetime
Mark Cuban - young, rich, outspoken rebel, sports franchise owner... sounds like fun.
C) Some fictional character
Billy Pilgrim... unstuck in time is a cool concept, and Montana was pretty hot.
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
Not yet. I feel Ben still has a presence that is still developing in Joe, but Joe is ascending and there's still time for him to overtake Joe.
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
No... I'm good with 4 for now. Only TCU has a case about their exclusion, and there will always be one team that has a case for inclusion.
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
a. Alex Mack's injury
b. The play of Bito
c. Lack of O-line depth
d. Hoyer's downward spiral
e. The rash of D-line injuries
-
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
All calls should be reviewable and reversible.
2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:
A) Somebody in the history of mankindHmm. So many options and need more time to think it through...the famous people we know in history were in positions of extreme leadership and power. Not my cup of tea. I'll go the romantic, flashy side and say Wyatt Earp.
Somebody alive during your lifetimeAaron Kaufman, of Fast N Loud fame. Because in another life I wouldn't mind just keeping it simple and fun to work on classic cars/hot rods as my way of living. Doesn't have to be exactly him but mirroring his lifestyle would be ok.
C) Some fictional character
Han Solo first came to mind. The fictional gunslinger cowboy to my historical figure choice.
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
Has to win another SB and at least make an appearance in one more, to match Ben IMO, but if you mean overtake as in Ben is in his twilight years and it's Flacco's turn to shine in his prime...then maybe. I don't see it yet but then I have to have the body of work after the fact to make such a call.
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
Yes. Already I'm more interested in college ball where they have playoffs to determine the best of the best, instead of just bowl games where teams are chosen due to traditions and popularity contests.
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
1. Haslam's quick decision to blow it up and start over after year 1
2. New FO/coaching staff
3. Alex Mack injury/lack of o-line depth
4. Brian Hoyer's struggles since #1 happened
5. Injuries to D that contributed to the poor run D
5a. First round QB chosen, and couldn't win the starting job or even be a competent backup QB when Hoyer lost the job.
-
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
All calls should be reviewable and reversible.

Yea, I am not talking total career wise. I am only asking whether or not you think that right here, right now Flacco is the better QB?
If you were to start your team in 2015 which one of those guys would you prefer?

Here are my Survey questions for this week:
1. Should Pass Interference calls be reviewable and reversible?
No. Replay should be abolished. Officials have become gun-shy and the quality of officiating has decayed since replay began.
2. Courtesy of Chicopee John's request I ask this question...with an addition of my own to it:
If you had to exchange your life with another, who would you like to be in these categories:

If I had too, maybe either Lewis or Clark. It would have been tough, but really cool to cross the country and discover the unknown.
3. Has Joe Flacco overtaken Ben R. to be the best QB in the AFCN?
No, Big Ben is still better. He stands tall vs the rush, Flacco wilts.
4. The College Football playoffs appear to be a huge success. Should they be expanded soon?
No, fine like it is now. Eight teams would add 3 more weeks, not good.
5. Briefly name the 5 most important factors that affected the Browns 2014 season....positively or negatively.
Positively- the running game was better when they added Bitonio; Dansby & Kirksy made the LBs better.
Negatives: drafting Manziel and the circus that followed; Gordon sandbagging when he returned; special teams weren't very good at all

I'd still have to go with Ben.
If I had too, maybe either Lewis or Clark. It would have been tough, but really cool to cross the country and discover the unknown.
I actually thought of them for an answer as well, but passed. But you'd better say Clark, because Lewis' life didn't end so well.

That shot to the head would make me hesitate.
Person from my lifetime - JFK. Porking Marilyn Monroe would be worth a pea shooter to the noggin. And Forget about Joe DiMaggio..... that guy was a pole smoker if there ever was one.
You must have a death wish Ghoolie....and you have ordered the manner of it.....a shot to the back of the head.
Fictional Character - Sid Finch. The Roach look-alike featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated who had a 140 mph controlled fast ball.
Second real life choice................. I would have liked to be Eric Heiden. That guy was the best tight end ever to play for the Browns.
I just wish they would have let him wear his all gold uniform.

That is one interesting take, but first you'd have to "return" the slaves and then make slavery illegal, because you can't just ship free men, now can you?
THAT would have had a tremendous impact on America.
Yes it would.
There would be no Jazz, Blues, or Rock n' Roll but, don't worry, you'd still have work, the polka industry would probably be huge.
Of course, you might be singing the lyrics in German without the contributions of 125,000 American descendants of slaves that went overseas and helped save the world in WW II.

Gip - Elon Musk (south african) is the multi-billionaire genius science guy, owner of Tesla, SpaceX and a whole bunch of other awesome projects; David Attenborough - Richard's brother - is a world renowned naturalist who has spent his life travelling the world documenting nature, wildlife and the like. I'd say that would be a cool way to spend a life.
No clue on Absurdio. So obviously I googled it, never heard of them either.

I don't think the reference was to what you Googled. Your use of the symbols +/- (plus, minus) triggered this reference in my mind:

Regarding the first question, as much I hate Belichek I think he actually has a pretty interesting theory on all these calls nowadays. Make every single play allowed to be challenged by coaches. Same rules apply to challenges but have a team of experts to decide whether the foul should or should not have been called, etc etc.
What do you guys think of that?
