New OC again!

This news is HUGE for Manziel.
He might not know it but his biggest supporter is now gone.
His days as a starting QB is probably gone.
Keep on partying...

One of my customers has offered me a very nice position several times. The position would entail a nice salary increase, less travel and would be perceived by most as a step up. Why haven't I taken it? They have been my account for about 10 years. I have yet to see anyone survive that or any other management position with them for more than 2 years.
My point? Why in the hell would any good OC want to come here?

The key is to leave before the nail you into the coffin.
Take the job then plan the exit strategy. Well play by Shanny.

Browns are a mess. Makes me ask the question, is Pettine an issue too?
Manziel having to learn a new offense is not good. His greatest supporters are gone.
Shanny won't be without a job for long.
For what its worth according to Rotoworld Shanny was never a Manziel fan
A source tells FOX Sports that the Browns are "parting ways" with OC Kyle Shanahan.
The dysfunction that has plagued Cleveland's organization for the last 15 years continues. Just one year after landing a talented game-planner and offensive schemer, the Browns lose Shanahan on the heels of a disastrous Johnny Manziel pick and reports of "friction" between the coaches and the front office. Shanny (who was never on Team Manziel) reportedly asked for his release and was granted it, while quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains was canned Thursday. Shanahan, who will interview for the Bills' head coaching vacancy Thursday and has been linked to the 49ers' vacancy, won't hurt for other offers. Seahawks DC Dan Quinn wants him as his offensive coordinator if he lands a job and there are also rumors of three teams interested in Mike and Kyle as a package deal. The next Browns' OC will be their ninth since 2006.For what its worth according to Rotoworld Shanny was never a Manziel fan

Shows a lack of class.
I am usually more in the boat of Zombo and you and I don't see eye to eye on some things (mostly Johnny). I am with you on this one. There are a lot of damn good regular joe looking folks out there. No need to go there. I am sure overall Zombo didnt mean it to be harmful.
-
Where are all of those Aggie motherfuckers who swarmed this board a couple months ago claiming to be Browns "fans" I'd like to hear who they think can bring out Johnny Fuckboy's true potential.

I didn't. Steve mentioned googling Trestman so I did some searches on him and saw the family picture. I like the milfy wife and thought I could make a joke about Johnny and the daughters. Weis is the other name being bandied about so I googled his family. I just thought the contrast was humorous.
The Weis's look like regular Joe's with a nice golden, they are probably great folks.
I sure am explaining myself a lot today. I blame Everlastingxxxslobber for that.

my old post on the browns' scheme for manziel is out there to find, but bottom line, any intelligent person with some football background would do better than what shanahan did.
That is why the most hated, misunderstood, and disrespected guy in america still has a job with the browns, and the NFL's darling daddy's boys in charge of putting him in a position to succeed are FIRED.
if you give manziel a decent sized pocket, with his eyes down field, and some decent routes and reads, he will be very effective. Especially if your OL knows to stay on blocks, and find new ones as the play breaks down... and as long as your OL knows when it's time to get downfield. Even more so if your WR's know how to extend the play and when to start slobberknocking DBs if Manziel crosses the LOS.
we also all know that manziel is the most elusive 'evader' ever, with eyes in the back of his head; but that his pure straight line speed is just slightly better than the average NFL safety or OLB, with an even smaller frame.
finally we also know that he has no better than mid-pack-NFL-starter arm strength and accuracy, but that he can make those throws across the entire field as well as from any body position, and on the move as well -- abilities in which he is almost unique.
Of course the rule is you never throw across your body... but manziel can still work things in there that no one else really can once he acclimates to the league. if trained and used properly, he potentially threatens more of the field for longer, and in more different ways, than any other QB in the league.
it is also obvious that:
at his height, a tight pocket with max protect is likely to result in batted passes (that NEVER happened in college, despite playing SEC defenses that have put 10+ NFL defenders in the league). He needs a little bit of space to work the lanes.
so what does shanahan do? lots of tight pocket with max protect. and guess what? more batted passes in one half than he had in his entire college career.
zone read....my dear god.... with his escapability and improvisational skills, the last thing you want to do is to force him to sit in one spot behind center, read a DE instead of the whole field, give the defense the initiative, and then force him decide to either hand the ball off and get plowed, or keep the ball and get plowed. Zone read does this, allows no creative alternatives available to him, and destroys every advantage he brings.forcing him to run in a bootleg or rollout straight line down the line of scrimmage in this scheme, against guys with equal speed, more size, when at least one of them are spying him anyway, is exactly what he can't do well, and will probably get him hurt.
so what does shanahan do? Lots of zone read and QB sweeps off tackle, or trying to fit through tight gaps inside the tackles. imagine that, he kept getting plowed on those plays.
what else? lots of play action rollouts, where manziel is not allowed to dictate his position, keep his eyes downfield, or threaten the whole field.
with manziel in the shotgun and wide OL spacing, he threatens the entire field for 5-6 second every play, both in the air and on the ground. this is impossible to defend well, even in the NFL.so of course shanahan's favorite play is a rollout play action pass, which means for the first 2 seconds Manziel is not a threat for anything because he's wasting time faking a handoff jogging back from under center, and the next 2 seconds he is being forced into a corner of the field and told not to throw back - thus he threatens less than half the field for 2 seconds or less -- instead of threatening the whole field for 6 seconds or more.
but he probably wont get the full 2 seconds, because, 1) the spying LB's job has been made simple by the rollout, so he will force a quick throw, and 2) the WR patterns are such that they only have a split second window to be open or not - and no one has time to make a play.
just brilliant.they did not even slide a hot read route in behind the spying defender for gods sake!
you could not possibly have created a worse situation. no way. it was perfect. perfectly wrong.
and then i wont even get into all the execution problems the team had, as well as their attempted psychological mindgames i guess aimed at beating down manziel in the media.
in every way, the browns did the exact worst thing possible if they wanted manziel at QB.that is why shanahan is fired, and if they get a half ass OC and QB coach next year, the browns may be a real pleasant surprise.

Agree... Young Shanny seemed to me to be in JM's corner from the get-go. Surprises me that now everything is saying he was not.

I just read that if Kyle Shanahan gets the job as head coach in Buffalo he will make a deal to trade a draft pick to take Johnny Manziel with him.
Okay I didn't actually read it I heard it somewhere.
Okay I didn't actually really hear it anywhere, I just made it up.
Where do I get an application for beat reporter?

Mary Kay Cabot has built a career on that method.

i like it. no probs here.
loggains was a waste and shanny over thunk his game planning, and quite frankly, it stunk.
I don't know what embarrass me more? the fact that we are going through a nother offensive system when it was working or that a dumb f*** Browns fan actually likes this turn of events wth Shanahan.
obviously Loggins was the main trigger for drafting Johnny Manziel so he got what he deserved. Biut Shanny this sucks

you let a stranger embarrass you? wtf?
well seeing the majority of people around here agree with my point of view...who's the dumbf*** now?
btw, as soon as there were 3 HC slots available, you didn't think shanahan was going to try and apply to at least one of them, you dumbfuck? even if he had stayed this coming year, dollars to donuts he'd be gone next. so why not get a guy in here who wants to stay and doesn't want or need the HC gig to make him feel 'whole'?
AND kyle's play calling sucked.
