Another yawner move by the Browns.."yawn"

We really don't know that yet. I'm sick of the Browns ending up with these old timers who never live up to their rep. Keep hiring the young blood. It all comes down to cohesion within the coaching staff and the willingness of the players to buy in...........

Yep! I'm also tired of the old, "This guy is a PROVEN so-so Coach". Go for the GUSTO & keep getting these young, energetic guys. Old guys like me (68) need to be FANS! (I'm still damn good at that).

I love what's happening with my Browns. We may still have some tough days ahead, but we no longer will settle for, and accept, mediocrity.

    Mike

BTW, I'll call him FLIP....it fits & it's only one syllable (hell, I only have so many left! LOL)

  • Really this appointment. Another young hungry coach that Pettine likes. Suits me.

  • Need to take it to the next level though!

  • Hey... Better then nothing.

  • He's a young, flexible, adaptable guy who really knows his stuff,

and apparently has great people skills...

    Nice job, Browns !

  • Let us see what does this has to offer. Our whole coaching staff seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

  • godzilla or MLK Jr.?

    godzilla .......easy.

at least it's an in-shape jap rather than a big fat burnt candle in mike martz.

  • “One of the things Mike and I talked about in our interview was if there's something these guys are familiar with in terms of a name, I don't need to change the name just because I see it as, for example, the play's called ‘smash’ and they call it ‘hammer.’ I can learn,” DeFilippo said. “Let one guy learn the new tag for it."

Well fuck yeah. This makes me happier than anything else in the interview - it shows he's not some arrogant 'my way or the highway' kind of coach saying 'this play is called this in my system, learn it or gtfo'

The more I read about it, the more excited I am.

  • What? A coach that does not try to stuff a system on a team instead of designing one around the players at hand? Blasphemy!!

Does he do late night drinking too?

  • Hey I'm taking a positive reaction especially after looking over all the retreads available. You know, guys that have been out of football for a couple years, guys in their sixties etcetera. Might be nice to have a young guy with plenty of energy.

I really would like to see the Browns continue their commitment to the run. That always seems to allow the quarter back to have a little breathing room.

  • I am real positive about what is taking place with the Browns. Good owner, good GM, good coaches all who seem to be on the same page. The team has some good talent that should be greatly improved after the draft with the Browns having two first round picks and more picks overall than any other NFL team. Hindsight is 20/20 but at the time of the draft last year everyone I read had given the Browns excellent marks for their picks. I believe these guys will do much better than we have done before in not wasting draft picks. The one really bad pick was a whopper though with JM.

Spot on... A coach adapting terminology to team makes so much sense, yet done so rarely. Just hope Flippie doesn't get too scared during his review of our 2014 Offense. One thing for sure, he'll form an opinion on Hoyer that'll influence our interest in signing him.

Also happy to see he's primarily a WCO guy who's open to the ZBS. Hopefully bodes well for some key assistants.

  • Too bad he wont have Sammy Watkins to throw the ball to. 🙁

WCO would seem to suit someone like Hoyer, with the timing, precision and shorter throws.

  • Shaw too, not so sure about Manziel.

  • I haven't been real tuned into this, but has Flip, Pet, or Farm mentioned Johhny Manziel at all in regard to this hire?

  • Gee, Mariotta fits that WC offense bill............

and he isn't a leprechan party animal..... 😎
