  • Who changed the title of this thread to include DA the Scapegoat as part of it?!?!?!!? This wasn't what it originally was. If it was a mod with an agenda, that is just lame!

  • Well, I accidentally started a thread trying to make a "the thread" type of title, saw another too late, tried to delete it, and the mods must have merged things.

    Who's going Thursday night??!!

  • It's ATENEARS, almost guarenteed. He's going to be a Cal-Frye on this issue for the next several months. Just be prepared.

99% of the board is celebrating like crazy... and Ate goes for a misleading title.

That was me, I fooked it up.

You guys gotta quit starting a new thread for christ sakes. Post in the one that's going on, we all know it's official.

If that is the case, all I can say is GROW THE F%*K UP! I didn't realize the board was run by a 12 year old.

I see it is now changed back.

  • Did anyone just hear Trent Dildo on ESPN? He was trashing the org for pulling DA and saying Brady should be worried because if we pulled DA after "a couple" interceptions, he could get pulled too.

Gimme a break, this guy is a joke analyst.

Talk about giving the kid a short time to prepare.

Either QB had a short time to prepare for the game. Means the staff believes Quinn can handle it.

or they figured DA had how many weeks to prepare for the Ratbirds the second time and how did he fair, or they figure if he does falter it gives them the excuse of him having the short week to prepare, and gives him more experience for the next week.

Anderson is the lowest rated passer in the NFL (over 200 attempts) after a half season. Over the past 13 games, he has a 67 passer rating and more INTs than TDs.

Dilfer was really steamed when he got pulled for Frye. He's letting his personal feelings get in the way.

That said, I happen to think he's EXCELLENT on ESPN. Smart guy, easy to listen to.

I was just heated, he is one of the better analysts. But you're not supposed to be biased and his remarks about DA were way off.

He normally is excellent on ESPN. In this case, it was obvious his personal feelings were in the way. His voice went up an octive and looked to get flush. He was all kinds of emotional when talking about it. Sour grapes.

    Quinn to start Thursday

The Browns have confirmed that Brady Quinn will make his first NFL start Thursday night when the Browns host the Broncos.

Quinn, the second of the team's two first-round picks in 2007, will replace Derek Anderson.

Quinn started two games this preseason but has just one regular-season appearance under his belt, a one-drive cameo in last year's season finale. He went 3-of-8 for 45 yards and the Browns kicked a field goal after Kellen Winslow dropped a pass in the endzone.

The Browns hope the switch will ignite an offense that was one of the league's best last year but entered Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Ravens ranked 30th in total offense.

Quinn was 14-of-24 for 106 yards in the Browns' third preseason game against the Lions and 7-of-9 for 65 yards in the preseason finale against the Bears.

He's starting for one reason....70,000 fans chanting his name toward the end of the game. RAC has no choice , whether he buys into or not, if he wants any chance of saving his job. If Brady does well and wins at least 5 of the last 8, RAC might be around next year. Anything other, and he'll be gone as well.

Somebody quoted Pat Kirwan this morning:

"You know your team is in trouble when they start listening to the fans"

    Fits Cleveland to a T

I am glad you finally admit that you are not a Cleveland fan; please leave

Quinn starting is simply tremendous news!

  • What's with RAC? I dont get that guy.

During his news conference Monday, Crennel was asked if he was considering a change at quarterback.

"No, I haven't really," he said. "I haven't had a chance to talk to the coaches or anything. With a short week, I told them to go ahead and get started on Denver. They haven't even looked at this game yet."

Crennel was then asked if Anderson was still his starter.

"Yes," he said, "as of right now."

    and

Does this have anything to do with BQ's contract? Wasn't there something about starting him after game 8, incentive laden contract, etc.? I wonder if this is why they waited until now.

So He's becnhing a guy who threw how many picks in the last 4 games... (1) maybe (2)..?

THis is the result of bad, bad, bad, coaching...and Milk dud needs a fall guy....Do you think maybe putting in a gameplan that can handle a rookie QB would have helped?.....OVer and OVer again, this coach has mucked up games with his lack of in-game coaching ability...I'm so tired of seeing that same old (I just sh*t my pants) look on this guy...He now throws DA under his big fat bus and hope someone can pull him out of the mees he created...Well, guess what...Quinn will not win a flippin game...He's too small, has no arm strength, and will look exactly like Jeff Garcia, with 6 yard dink and dunk mentality...only cuz he can't see over anyone.......alot of rollouts, ala J. Garcia, alot of quick slants, ala J Garcia, and nothing down the field or deep......Well It appears to be official...and I actually can't wait for B QUinn, to further implode this team.....what you'll hear after thursdays loss is only another out for the big Coach Milk dud....saying it's gonna take time...only to buy his big ass more of it....

The season officially ended with this QB change....

Before you post get your facts right. BQ is like 6-3 and gracia like 6-0. BQ has a great arm and he is smart and will take what the D will give him. If it's the deep ball he will or a dump off. DA will be a good back up.

I think this is just coachspeak. Keep the game plan as status quo (and preach this is so) for as long as humanly possible, even though, behind the scenes, shit may be going down. This is the stuff Lummy constantly fell for hook, line, and sinker.

  • The KC fan site getbradynow.com now takes you to GoDaddy. Ha!

  • Today is the FIRST DAY of Training Camp!

I know the LUM suckers will be hoping and praying for BQ to fall on his face. I want the Browns to win EVERY WEEK.

Frankly, I don't care what they say. We will see what we have or DON'T have.

I also find it STRANGE that BQ is named the starting quarterback on a super short week...things that make you go hmmmmmmm (to quote Arsenio Hall). Making a QB change after Thursday (having a LONG week to prepare) seemed to me to be the recipe for MORE success, if that is what you want.

Either way I don't care. This team was NOT going to run the table...season was over anyway.

Good luck BQ...one step at a time!

Danimal, you gotta remember that Denver is a much better match up and at home, whereas going to Buffalo on MNF would be a tougher order, that's why I think they did it now.

  • I still don't get people mad that we're making a switch at qb. How someone could not see the issue there is beyond me. I know there were other issues, but every week there was one you could count on and it was at qb. If quinn doesn't work out, we're pretty much screwed. I feel we're out of the playoffs already anyway. I just want to see what happens with him in there. We traded draft picks to get him, so play the guy and see what you have.

  • For all you wondering aloud why this week....there are a TON of reasons...I just didn't think the Browns had the balls to do it!!!

    1. Denver has a QBR against of 103.1, with only 3 INT's on the year (12 TD's)

    2. Denver ALSO has a piss poor run defense (144+ against poor rushing teams) so JL will be able to keep the pressure off of BQ

    3. It is the first of 4 games against teams with questionable defenses and having rough goes right now...(Denver 1-4/Buffalo 2 L's in a row and 20+ against/Hou 26.6 per game and 98+ QBR against/Indy 22+ per game and 30+ in 2 out of last 3)

But the biggest reason is through 8 games DA has shown a one game on one game off trend and the ONLY way the Browns may be able to shake it up is to either change coaches (not a great idea mid-season) or QB's...and we all know that we at least have an option to go to there.

As for his readiness...I think just improving to 60% completion rate would be enough to get this team going in the right direction.

    FINGERS CROSSED!!!

  • it's gotten to the point where even i'm happy that quinn's finally starting. i know you guys don't know me all that well, but i'm not a quinn guy. i was distraught when we traded to draft him and elated when anderson had a decent year last year.

however, it's come to the point where he's a detriment to the team and his negatives outweigh his positives. you can't be an nfl quarterback if you can't hit a six-yard pass.

it's not that i want quinn to start, it's that i want anderson benched. like charlie frye before him, dilfer before frye, garcia before dilfer, holcomb before frye and couch before holcomb, anderson is another body on the scrap heap. yes, he had a few good games, but he never improved. the only positive is that he never got gun shy like couch and frye. i always liked that anderson could pull the trigger. let's hope quinn has the same kind of swagger. he'll need it with the way this season has been.

maybe he'll have success somewhere else. maybe our coaches are the problem. but does anyone really think that another team is gonna trade for a backup QB with a huge contract?

also, what does this mean for K2? i didn't think it'd be possible to keep him after savage grossly mismanaged his staph infection, but might this open the door, if he and quinn have success together, to him staying on after this year?
