Who Got The Best "Steal" In 2104 Draft
-
Out of the first two rounds which team and player would you choose-give your top 3. Mine would be Browns with Bitonio, Bengals with Jeromy Hill and Miami with Jarvis Landry, all 2nd rounders who played like 1st rounders.

Per one Bleacher Report writer the Top Ten rookies of last season were:
1. Aaron Donald DT Rams
2. Khalil Mack LB Raiders
3. Odell Beckham WR Giants
4. Joel Bitonio OG Browns
5. Zack Martin OG Cowboys
6. CJ Mosley LB Ravens
7. Cory Linsly OC Packers
8. Jeremy Hill RB Bengals
9. Teddy Twatwater QB Vikings
10. Mike Evans WR Buccaneers
Christian Kirksey was rated 37th best rookie.

"steal" usually implies taken in a later round right?
49ers - Chris Borland
Steelers - Martavis Bryant
Packers - Corey Linsey
Browns - Isaah Crowell
Jaquars - Allen Hurns
Chargers - Brandon Oliver

Per my above rank then Cory Linsley may in fact be the best steal of the draft. 5th rounder considered to have had the 7th best rookie season. All others ranked above him were first rounders except Bitonio who was high 2d round.

The Zargon 416-B Titans got the steal of the draft when they took Zaparellious M'ktwebortwzz, the 7'5" Octo-human CB from U. Mars - Amherst.

Ok....OP says first 2 rounds only......so Ill try to follow the directions here.....
Top 5 rookies by PFF rating alone are:
K. Mack .....55.0.....pick #5
A. Donald...34.4.....pick #13
J. Bitonio....22.4.....pick #35
Z. Martin....21.6.....pick #16
A. Beckham..20.1..pick #12
So, based upon the top 5 rated players, Bito is the only one who was NOT in the top 1/2 of the first round....
Later round stars?.....
Borland.....20.8.....3rd rounder
K. Williams...8.7......#1 rated rookie CB in the NFL....Undrafted

Hands down it has to be...
Buffalo Round 7 Pick #237: Seantrel Henderson OT Miami
Started all 16 games at RT his rookie season and played at a high level.
-
-
Seantrel was my top sleeper last year. Just one of those problem kids with off-field issues, but talent to burn.
Did not follow him faithfully, but every report I read said he was doing very well. Including shutting down Cameron Wake in their first meeting.
Did PFF no like?

I was high on him around January, then I cooled down when he was too fat to finish his Pro Day.

No, they really didn't....2nd last OT actually @ -29.9.....rated 2 plus games and 14 neg games- giving up 28 hurries, 12 hits, 6 sacks....
However, out of all the rookie tackles, he is only one of 3 that actually started and played 16 games....so he may be better than the score indicates(compared to the other rookie tackles).....
But, as the steal of the draft?.......Im thinking Ill debate that one....ha!

as an aside....the lowest rated rookie tackle?....Jake Mathews @ -36.8 (yikes)....with a very balanced -19 pass/ -19 run...with 7 sacks, 9 qb hits, 35 hurries and 11 holds.....

Jarvis Landry was the 12th WR taken in the draft. Yet he had one more first down (48) catch that #1 Sammy Watkins (47) and one less TD (5) for the season. He caught 84 passes for less yardage than Sammy Watkins's 65 catches, but that is how that Miami O is designed. I'd classify this late 2nd rounder as a real steal starting all games for the season.
My pick for next year will be Tyler Lockett-5th fastest 40 among WR's at 4.40 with great hands/+moves after the catch.

Thats a good one Ag!....he had a great season and no one mentions him because of all the big name guys.....in case you're curious, based upon PFF Only, he graded out as the #3 most efficient rookie receiver.....(Beckham 1, Evans 2)....
And who was #4 you ask?........Mr. Taylor Gabriel(undrafted) ....thats right....#4 folks....
