  • MKC called into The Bull & Fox show, and shed a little light on the McCown signing.

She said that McCown was willing to accept a mentoring/backup role whereas Hoyer was not.

I'm wondering who he's going to teach, JFF or a QB coming out of the draft?

So we signed a competitor who would rather be a backup/mentor (us), then he would a starter (Bills)? That's encouraging.

  • good signing couldn't watch Boy Pouty any longer when Johnny Fuckstain played. Now we have a guy who is willing to put his ego aside and help his team as a back up and veteran leadership.Bryce Petty can learn the pro game under Mc Cown

  • Lol

  • This is good. The off-season usually gives me hope and the season itself is when it's depressing enough to drink as crushing reality sets in.

It's like fast forwarding to September now. If you'll excuse me, I have a bottle of Makers 46 to open, crying to do and film to watch.

Seagram's and 7 here, But if you get a chance, Watch tape on Mannion with over 500 snaps under center, sounds like he fits the Josh Offense But with a Great O Line. Looking for any Hope...

I'm thinking the Browns offered more money for McCown to be a mentor, than the Bills offered for him to be a starter.

Either scenario, I'm not thrilled with this signing.

  • I am guessing fail for Cardale is real.

    Both

    Care to share?

Only if you're bringing the necessary ingredients for an old fashion.

  • Hoyer wants to start. Neither last year nor this year would Hoyer help develop ANY rookie to pass him on the depth chart. On the other hand, McCown will be willing to start, backup, but more important, willingly mentor a young QB without bitterness or jealousy. IMO, he (McCown) has significant value.

    We'll see.

  • Bucs and Browns fan here.. I suffered thru every game McClown played in last yr.. The guy was Jekyll and Hyde.. Mostly Hyde.. This signing says more to me about this yr's crop of FA QBs than anything else..

  • Hopefully this is a Seattle/Flynn Russell situation.

Either Johnny comes back and wins the job or the QB they Draft in the third comes in and wins the job.

McCown.... Blah. Does it bother anybody else that the dude is 5 years older than the QB Coach...

Nah it doesn't bother me. It is just two awful QBs who will be able to talk each other about how to fine tune a losing season.

  • I just hope the QB getting mentored can catch on quick.

  • McCown starts Game 1... book it.

He made the wise choice vs. Buffalo. His game is much better suited to our run oriented, WCO.

    I hope you are right.

  • c'mon man, mccown IS a step up from hoyer given the age difference and injury history.

i don't blame hoyer for wanting out after what he had to deal with the whole JF fiasco last year.

this browns org is showing me more promise every day moving forward as they weren't going to let an old/getting older journeyman backup (who played great for us for ......let's say 10 games) dictate the future of this team.

    don't like it here, GTFO.

and to say we'll can it for cardale is laughable as i've noted in past posts. you really think donte whitner, JT, haden and bitonio etc. who are here to win are just going to lay down?

    another GTFO.

To attempt to win with McCown at QB.

    Me, too...

The guy can play fake really well, easily as well as Brian, which was the best part of Hoyer's game.

    Zombo said:

Not that I hate him .... but he aint running the (same) offense as Johnny Manziel.

    Presumes Johnny ran an offense?

Seriously, it is not as if Shanny did the kid many favors staying so much with the Pistol as he did in Cinci 1.2. Especially when you consider how good he looked bootlegging v the Bills a couple weeks earlier.

IMO if Johnny is going to make it in this league, then he is going to have to learn to play under center. Ditto for any other QB this side of Philly (or the other side for that matter).

And now we have Josh to teach JM and whomever else is sitting in class.
