Sheard Signs With Pats
-
I still think with all that cap money they should have kept Sheard, Jordan, Skrine and Hoyer. Farmer is a fool to let teams get better with our players. Namely TJ Ward last year. Getting older is not getting better. Take a memo Farmer: The Browns have THE MOST picks in this year's draft. We need a wide receiver, nose guard, inside linebacker etc. There will be no excuses this time that the fans should accept. I don't like this guy. I may change my mind after the April draft but right now, no. To think they gave McCown 13 million and let Hoyer go to Houston for less is making me hate this guy.
-
We will see how average he is. Signing with a team that Will teach him one scheme and stick with it the very next year might help him progress correctly. How many different positions, schemes, and play books did that guy have to learn. My god. Him and buster deserved a better situation and some money. I do actually think this is good for other LBs tho. And I wouldn't be surprised to see them take another in the draft.
-
He became very below average once we tried to make him a stand-up lb. I expect the Pats to use him as a situational, 3-point stance pass rusher. Thats not worth $5.5mil IMHO...
-
He will make the pro bowl with them

-
he didn't fit the 3-4 scheme. casualty of non-conformity.
he will do well in the pats system.

Patriots toward the end of the season were in a 4-3 almost all the time. This move pretty much shows that they're tooling up to continue doing more the same. I agree Sheard was better as a 4-3 DE for us...my only hesitation in letting him go is ok, who now? It ain't Mingo unless they commit to 3 DL on every play with one of the ends over the tackle on Mingo's side. ANd we need another Jack OLB'er too to spell Kruger. I always thought Kruger and Sheard should have spent "some" time on the field together, like on early downs and/or obvious running situations...but overall they should have been keeping each other fresh.
-
did you classify sheard as an OLB? i mean i think we both agree he was/is a hands in the dirt DE correct? i know he did well for us his first couple of seasons playing that way.
we need LB help and depth but don't know if farmer will pull the trigger that early on that position.
then again i'm a fan and speculating. hell he might want to trade the first rounders and more for mariota for all i know.

Soooooo.....in the hint for sn olb'er again. Pretty much orakpo is the only named guy left besides houston now that worilds retired. I dunno. Maybe we need to ping for beasley....probably still lose both picks and for that snd 15m we could get the best olb'er in football

Bill > Farmer. Stick with the plan- SB in 2050.

There are a ton of really good OLB's available in this draft. As deep there as last year's was in wr's.

As I posted on the other thread, there are a ton of really excellent OLB's in this draft, far into 3-4th rounds. We will get ours.

The only thing he wanted to see explode was his bank account.
The only thing he wanted to see explode was his bank account.
yee haw. so do all the players...like the song goes, money money money money......MMMMMMOOOOOONNNNNEY......its all about the almighty buck..hey this is supposed to be a capitalistic country so i say go for it all you players...

I don't blame him. Wanting to help the Browns is one thing. But getting paid AND going to the reigning champs is another
-
He will be cut by the start of the season.
-
Did any of you stop to think he was offered a deal by the Browns but chose the Patriots instead? It's not like we had any right to tell him to stay.
In any case, I hope this is a signal we are looking at DL early this draft. I wouldn't mind at all if the draft with DE/OLB and DT at 12 and 19.

or even more likely.....that the Browns didnt even make an offer...
I think they liked Sheard, but also know he's not a good fit for this defense.....
My guess?.....it was best for both if he left and both knew it.....so he left.....
Now, we can get a LB thats suited to our D and he can play at a position thats suited to his skills.....no harm, no foul...

Agree, Browns should be getting more than two sacks a season from one of their starting OLBs.
