Any o' you homos touch me, and I'll kill you.
(Funny thing....my nieces husband is in the military....some special ops stuff, but his name is Francis. I always think of that scene when I see him. Oddly though, when I asked him about it....he had never seen the movie or even knew about that line.....which I find hard to believe, but to be sure, I wasn't about to mess with him over it. This is a guy that did a year guarding the terrorists at Gitmo)

These comments... Hahaha
Let's just swing by the last Gordon thread real quick...

Was Manziel suspended multiple times by the NFL?
I must have missed that.

The image ended up having a good bit to do with his additions/whatever.
But even JF deserves a second chance without ridicule. Just not a second and third and fourth,
Gordon-style.. Just my dumb opinion...

I don't get the making fun of a terrible addiction, and a person who realizes
they need help and goes for it, especially all in the public eye.
So many families have had their lives damaged by these addictions, and so many
kids grew up having to deal with it.
It's no joking matter. I'm hoping he gets his life back, and becomes all he can be, and
has a great life.

I hope Johnny gets it together too,,,,,and takes the league by storm.....
But, I think we should all cool it on the "terrible addiction" thing, because as far as I know, no one has even said he's addicted to anything.....(except maybe attention & the spotlight)....
Rehab & therapy can mean or be many many things....but certainly DOESN'T mean he has a "terrible addiction".....

Very true. It's just a guess -
Maybe it's something else.

I don't think he's terribly addicted to anything but the limelight. I would prefer if he was addicted to football like Peyton Manning. Then I will back him 100%

DeFilippo wants Manziel to be obsessed with football. I think our new OC is exactly the coach for JM.
To put it plainly, DeFilippo expects quarterbacks under his tutelage to eat, drink, breathe and sleep quarterbacking. He spelled out what he intends to say at the first meeting with whichever quarterbacks are on the roster.
“It’s truly a lifestyle to be an NFL quarterback,” DeFilippo said Tuesday during an interview on WKNR-AM, via NFL.com. “It’s not just a job. It’s all-consuming. You need to sleep, eat, do everything fast and just think about football all the time. The great ones have an obsession with it. You watch the Peyton Manning’s … those guys are obsessed with football. And you talk about quarterback lifestyle, in our first meeting, that’s what we’re going to talk about with those guys.”

I'm not saying being obsessed with football is particularly bad but it probably isn't necessary all of the time. Look at Thomas and Mack who couldn't give less of a shit after the end of the last game until the beginning of camp.

Very true...but QB's are different. It doesn't have to be football 24/7/365 but from training camp till the end of the season it has to be and I'm not sure Manziel has that in him to be that guy.

I admit I have my doubts but I'm rooting for the kid.

Me too...because it would be better for the Browns if he turns into that guy.

Right there with you all you guys Mark. Those pictures that went all over cyberspace with Johnny holding those rolled up dollar bills gave me an eerie Don Rogers vibe where one day he in the beginning of a promising career and the next - he was dead.
You don't get mulligans when you play with the wrong stuff. I grew up a rock's throw from Phillip Seymore Hoffman and his older brother Gordon (now a USC Professor). One of those guys got his demons under control and the other only temporarily got his demons under control before meeting the same fate as Don Rogers.
There was a time here when Skippy had a picture of me doing underwater funnels at Spring Break in Daytona Beach on this message board. I went down there with 3 sick bastards and fate had our room opening up to poolside at the Days Inn so guess where the parties started every day? By the 3rd day, the door was off the hinges and rumors circulated Wundumsun took that sucker surfing in the Atlantic Ocean. He was really lucky he didn't end up behind bars. As us 4 knuckleheads found a new hotel, one of the guys asked me: "Flugs, do you think we have a drinking problem?" The only answer I could think of was "We clearly don't have a drinking problem; because we had no problem getting drunk." We were all within a year or 2 of Manziel's age today when you get right down to it. 2014 was a case of a college kid that loves to party wishing he stayed in college rather than spending the year as Brian Hoyer's backup. Unfortunately, it rubbed a lot of the vets here the wrong way. On the other hand, I'm betting a lot of those guys are proud of him for taking responsibility and putting the type of effort he has put forth at this point.
This one guy that we called Barnabus at college because he slept through daylight every day got up on a 6th story balcony after an Aldo Nova concert on the beach. And he did that because he had a crowd wanting him to jump into the pool with a lot of concrete to clear. Lucky for him there was Hotel Five-O telling him he'd get arrested if he survived the jump so 1 really stupid act never happened. That guy is a kickass lawyer in Upstate NY today; but clearly he had a lot of growing up to do before that could ever be possible. One of the things I remember being pleasantly surprised about Manziel with up against other high round QBs in his draft class is that he had a higher Wunderlic Score than all of the top QB prospects that year. Let's hope there's more to his QB story here than 6 or 7 quarters because that's not even paragraph 2 of the intro.

My biggest criticism of Manziel was that he did not give the Browns his best effort. He himself even admitted it. I can overlook about anything if someone is giving 100 percent. Maybe the reason for JM's lack of focus was that he needed treatment even sooner, maybe before the season even started. I knew that photo with him in the restroom last summer with the rolled up bill spelled nothing but trouble. Anyway I give him all the credit in the world for going into treatment and I am pulling for him not only as a Browns fan but for him personally. I look forward to seeing him give his best effort now and the comments I have read from Flip are that they are going to work him hard and have him focused on football. (obsessed with football is how Flip put it).
