Aaron Rogers and Tom Brady would have been fucked that game
This is absolutely laughable... our o-line played plenty good all season for those guys to have earned MVPs on our team. And, they wouldn't have slacked as much that game if they actually believed in their quarterback... that's on Manziel, and his lack of preparation and leadership...
I've always preferred the traditional drop-back QB in the mold of Manning(s)/Luck/Flacco/Ryan/etc... but, like a typical Browns' fan, dropped that bias the second we drafted the potentially great "Johnny Football." After watching a couple pre-season moments, and a whole NFL game... I remember why I have that bias toward the "traditional" QB... it works...
Guys who stand tall in the pocket and deliver accurate footballs are always going to be more effective in the NFL than the "athletic" QB... I'd rather have a potentially healthy "traditional" QB in Bradford than a flash-in-the-pan college QB who relies on making plays with his feet... Really, it's a lose-lose unless either Bradford could stay healthy for 16 games, or Manziel proves everybody wrong and shows that he can succeed at the highest level... seems like a tall challenge for both...
And the QB search continues...

it was the worst offensive play I've seen in years.

That's what happens when you start a player at QB, who's the equivalent of going into the stands, and picking out the first dumb ass, dildo loving Stooler fan you see, and placing him/her under center.

Class act right here everyone.
Thank you. Go Aggies

what can you say? not everyone here is a JF fanboy.

Joe Thomas is right. Here is a talented player who has now taken a real look in the mirror and decided he did not like the person he saw. So he is doing everything he can to recommit to himself and therefore the team to be the very best he can be and quit fooling around like a high school girl with pom poms and a Shiner Bock (a pretty good dark beer).
I'll go back and rely on his history. AFTER he won the Heisman he decided he was not really ready to be the NFL player he wanted to be, so he committed the whole off-season to becoming a first class passer instead of just a first class runner who could also throw. He did not break all those SEC records by resting on the well deserved laurels from that first season.
I'm counting on him to have really decided that he is tired of being the Johnny Football all his "friends" want him to be and to be the player his teammates want to trust to actually learn and play the game the way it's meant to be with that occasional JFF spark thrown in to keep the chains moving.
-
well if he makes it to TC without being traded and still comes up short (pun intended) i think the browns will move on from the JF experiment and will look to dump him for whatever they can get.
i really doubt they commit another season to developing or trying to fix this kid's life. this is a biz and if you're not up to snuff then.........

I'm not a JF fanboy... I was on Derrick Carr hardcore. I saw a legitimate NFL QB there, All the moxie and heart of Colt McCoy, the big playmaking ability of Johnny Manziel, the love of the game like Peyton Manning, character and leadership of a Tom Brady and the arm of Aaron Rodgers....
...but, we got Manziel. It is what it is. Manziel is exciting when he's on his game.

Derek Carr
AP
When the Raiders started their offseason workouts last year, quarterback Derek Carr was still waiting to find out what NFL team would bring him on board.
Oakland would make Carr a second-round pick the next month and he’d eventually beat out Matt Schaub to become the team’s starter for all 16 games in his rookie season. Carr had his ups and downs on the field, but showed enough promise to hold the job heading into this season and believes that he’ll be a better leader with a year of experience under his belt.
“When I came in, out of respect, I couldn’t just be the alpha male, the dominant leader, because it wasn’t my team yet,” Carr said, via Jerry McDonald of Bay Area News Group. “I couldn’t assert my leadership role. Now I don’t have to hold back. I can come in and be myself from the beginning and lead our team.”
Carr will be playing in a different scheme, but said Monday that he thinks offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave is installing things that Carr does well as part of an effort that makes him more at home in the offense. Those changes should make it even easier for Carr to assert his leadership since they make it clear that he’s the centerpiece of the unit for the present and future in Oakland.------------------------------------
Now, after reading that it shows you that it's going to take time for a rookie QB to establish himself and lead a team. Carr had the team from the start of the season- 16 games. Manziel was in Hoyer's shadow from the beginning, although it was almost as if Hoyer was in Manziel's shadow. There was dysfunction from the onset and not all of it belongs to Manziel. He should win the starting job this year from McCown and lead the team and follow in Carr's footsteps, albeit a year behind.
For the guys that say they would rather have a pocket only passer like Bradford at QB... we did, his name was Brandon fucking Weeden. God, his shit was so bad EVERYBODY was ready for ANYTHING. That's where Hoyer cam in...
Anyways you get the point, Carr; a natural born leader took a while to come in and make a team his own. He didn't have to contend with Manziel Mania, the watching of his every move. Manziel had to unseat a HOMETOWN HERO, an Ohio native, blah, blah, blah. Manziel never had a chance to win the job from Hoyer. Just as McCoy NEVER had the chance to win the gig from Weeden. Anytime Manziel came in to run one of his packages, which were working pretty good until they abandoned them, you'd catch Hoyer POUTING on the sidelines... he knew his days were numbered yet wanted to play. I doubt he took Manziel under his wing... if anything he probably slipped him laxatives pre-game. Ha.
It takes time. The kid will be alright. People need to quit making it into a Manziel Witch hunt. Get the kid some weapons and an OL that wants to block for him and let's see what he's got, but you've got to give it time. Baby steps in the right direction and we'll be farther along than we've been in 15 years.
- Which brings me to my last thought. I DONT GIVE A FUCK IF YOUR NAME IS JOE THOMAS. If you don't play to your very best ability each and every time you take the field, I don't give a fuck if it's Daffy Duck taking the snaps, you pull that shit and I find out about it... they can come and pick your ass up outside the stadium mid game because you won't play for me. I'd trade for somebody that wants to play. Say what you want about Manziel but I didn't see him fucking around and not trying.. he may not have done very good but he was trying. That is how the game we all love gets tarnished, that's how careers get ended, injuries happen when shit like that happens. You play for the Browns, the Fans and your livelihood, I could care less if you like Manziel as a person, but you'd better fucking block his ass off. I'm not calling out Joe Thomas specifically, I'm just making a point. What would Paul Brown do?

Pretty much what he looked like that day. I'm not expert on o-line play and I've never played QB but I know you can't throw a floating wounded duck across the field because the defensive back is pretty fast and is probably going to cut that shit off and intercept it and lo and behold that's exactly what we saw in that "highlight" video.
That game had nothing to do with the offensive line and everything to do with having a QB who (admittedly) fucked off his first season in the big leagues. Hopefully for the Browns sake, he has received his wake up call and will turn into the QB they hoped they were getting with a first round pick. Otherwise, he can pack his bags just like the rest of the shitty QB's we've had here for the last 15 years.

Well regardless of opinions of his play, he is still a good hearted person.

OK, read it. Mr. Farmer, I have one suggestion to you. Go watch the play Bradford blew out his ACL against the Browns last preseason- and every other time he's done so- a few hundred times. Get back to me and tell me with a straight face you think the second coming of KiJana Carter or Lawyer Tillman is worth Manziel and a first round pick.
About right.
Not even sure I'd go that high Mark.
Horta, Horta, Horta, picking fights is child's play now a days. I never said it was a good idea, just saying the rumor exists.

PG, by his own admission JFF didn't play to the best of his ability.
Paul Brown would have cut Manziel's partying I don't give a shit attitude by the 4th game, at the latest. More likely, wouldn't even have drafted him.
