    Let's hope so.

  • Ditto. I have my doubts that he's available though

  • it'd be nice if he was and we picked him.

  • a GM nowadays who goes out on limb and takes a player with questionable character has got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

Or he gets a steal. That's kinda the point.

  • yep, a steal or a felony bust. a job or the unemployment line.

    would you take the risk?

  • You're not going to get fired for missin on one player. I can't answer whether I would or not because I need more context. Would I take Jameis Winston at 19? Absolutely.

  • Cinci's GM taking the risk on Vontaze Burfict seems to be working out fine.

  • Ditto. I have my doubts that he's available though

The more needs that fall to Chicago the better. A Top WR or QB still on the board to the Bears, may put Shelton in some color of orange with no C on the helmet. (we think 😉)

bobby beatherd retired after the ryan leaf fiasco. i guess that's better than being fired.

ask belichick, ozzie newsome, ortmayer and pollian how it feels to draft and sign murderers.

They didn't take a "risk" on him, he was undrafted.

Spending the first pick in the draft on a franchise QB who's been accused of sexual assault twice, shop lifting, and screaming "FUCK HER RIGHT IN THE PUSSY" from the top of the table is not even in the same ball park as an undrafted linebacker who smoked marijuana and was considered "a personal foul machine" on the field.

Lol. I never heard what he actually said. That's great

True. That's where he most likely goes if not to us.
  • if he gets by the gints then i see hope.

  • Teams are scared off by Winston's off field activities.

"The latest I'm hearing now from my sources around the league, who are pretty wired in, is that Marcus Mariota is going to go number one now to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers." - Ron Jaworski

Well you're certainly better at arguing than mik, but he did not specify first round.

Also, Burfict slipped for more than that. He had first round-level tape. That's a fact. My point is that Burfict has proved to be a take. He would have been a take as a third rounder. Maybe higher. Mik said that taking a chance on a player with questionable character means you have one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel.

Everything has a price. If we take Mik's statement to the extreme, let's stipulate that Jameis Winston didn't get drafted, just like Burfict. He's available for pennies on the dollar. So a GM that signs him has "one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel"? Uh, no. The price was right.

  • Well no shit the higher that player is drafted the bigger the risk the GM is taking...

I can't speak for Mik but I think he's implying that if you draft a player in the top 10 who has character issues you are rolling the dice and i have to agree.

I don't see a big issue in taking a character flawed guy in the 5-UDFA rounds because the investment isn't high and the payoff could be good.

Jameis Winston will get drafted at some point but we are talking the VERY FIRST PICK IN THE DRAFT INVOLVING THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION.

  • Worthless logic and response from Woody per usual. Not even worth attempting to reply.

Walter, I wasn't talking about the top 10. He made a blanket statement and I wanted to expose how ridiculous it was. I'm arguing that the price is always right once it gets to a point. No, most of the time that point is not in the top 10. Although if there's a generational JJ Watt type of guy in the draft and he falls to 10, I wouldn't mind it. Especially if I had two first round picks.
