You're probably right and once upon a time alcohol was "medicinal" and you could get it by prescription as well. Of course neither of those things have any real medicinal value but if I were a doctor I'd sooner write a prescription for pot than opiods, knowing what a vicious problem opiods addiction is.

You are so heinously off base. My dad passed away from stage 4 colon cancer in November. His quality of life would have been cut in half had it not been for marijuana. Its a scientifically proven pain reliever and its on a MUCH greater level than Advil. Its other medicinal properties are undeniable specifically with people with diseases that cause seizures. There is also sound science on its effects with cognitive disorders and a ton of new science displaying cancer killing properties.
If you'd rather take a couple Advil you've never smoked pot for pain. Period.

I am truly sorry for your loss. They say that there are qualities in cannabis oil that slows down cancer growth, and may even reverse it! I really hope that we wake the fuck up in this country and end prohibition so that we can allow for further research! Of course Big Pharma will take issue with that, because it pays to keep people sick, and hooked on their crap! As for Advil, I take one on the rare occasion that I get a headache, and that does the trick. I really don't like taking any medication unless I can help it. And finally, as for recreational use of cannabis, I support that too! Who cares? There is way worse stuff out there, and personally I'm not above a couple of tokes myself.

Thank you and I totally agree. My dad started on the oil too late. He was vaping for pain and nausea but we didn't make him the high grade oil until he went right into hospice which is a huge regret of mine. It was helping in hospice to the point that the doctor was in shock but his body was too far gone at that point. It was heads and shoulders better for pain management that anything my dad could use, he would have told you or anyone else the same.. I'm a huge advocate. Ohio is getting close.

Hell... I support full blown legalization for recreational use, because the way I see it the government has no business telling us what we can and cannot consume! Especially if I'm not causing harm to another person! Now, if I smoke a doobie and then go out drive and slide into a family of 6, then you have a case!

bottom line is the medical community agree that cannibis has many medicinal properties....they just think the ill effects of smoking outweigh the benefits(most of which can be obtained thru over the counter pills....anxietymeds, pain meds, etc).....
BUT....in terminal cases, most agree the side effects dont matter and it has it's place.....
PLUS.....now there is more and more PROOF that it has great benefits in fighting certain cancers.....

Anecdotal evidence is not good enough for any sort of declaration on any level. Here's a study on Web MD that showed people on pot's pain level of 1-10 was 6.1 on placebo and 5.4 on pot. A very small reduction, but then again it's up against placebo not a known pain reliever.

I'm in favor of straight up legalization but I don't really believe it has much medicinal value. Certainly it's analgesic effects are not as potent as over the counter analgesics.
As for cancer there's a lot of plants that are shown to have anti cancer effects including many vegetables and fruits such as soursop. marijuana is hardly unique in this respect and is very unlikely to ever produce a cure. Just stop and admit that pot's main draw is getting you high.

If I have a migraine I smoke my vape. My dad's pax ploom to be specific. It's also a lot cheaper to take an advil and it's not illegal. Legalize it and more people will use it for pain management.
