Browns vs. Steelers Defensive lines

The Browns Board

  • Continuing on. Here are the Defensive line Depth Chart for Browns/Steelers from Ourlads. Who has the edge? I think with this unit you have to delve into the backups a bit more because most teams use about a 6 man rotation....including the Browns:

    Steelers:

LDE Cameron Heyward, backup Cam Thomas

NT Steve McClendon, backup Daniel McCullers

RDE Stephon Tuitt, backup Clifton Geathers

    Browns:

LDE: Billy Winn, backup Randy Starks

NT: Phil Taylor, backup Isma'aily Kitchen

    RDE: Desmond Bryant, John Hughes

So, how does the talent level shape up here. At first glance it seems fairly even.....but I want to know what you all think.

If any of you can give those PFF rankings etc. that would be helpful.

  • I believe Heyward is better then Winn.

    Taylor is better then McClendon

Tuitt and Bryant are close, but Tuitt was better towards the end of the season and will be better in 2015.

Perhaps. Like I said, with a D Line, there is so much rotation of the players you have to look up backups as well.

Again, I don't have these answers.

But you will probably be in the Vag's shit list.....you admitted that a Browns player is better than a Steeler player. In his eyes you may have committed an unforgiveable sin for which he will want you to commit sepeku.

Seems pretty even to me as well.

Considering I wouldn't swap the Steelers bunch for the Browns, then I would have to give the Steelers the edge.

Of course you probably feel the same on your end.

But weren't the browns horrid at stopping the run last season?

    Edit: I too like Taylor.

I'd love to have that fat ass at defensive tackle for us and know that he's better than McClendon although mcclendon played well to close out the season. I'm not like that either when it comes to browns/steelers. I just don't believe the browns are a qb away from winning the division.

  • Neither are spectacular, Heyward is the best of all of them.

    On the PFF depth charts:

    LDE Tuitt-Below Average

    NT McLendon-Average

    RDE Heyward-Very Good

    LDE Taylor-Average

    NT I.Kitchen- Average

    RDE D.Bryant-Average

  • Yeah they're both pretty poor. Need Shelton, Danny ASAP.

The Browns were bad at stopping the run.....though a lot of that may have to go on the shoulders of the linebackers.

No, not just a QB.....another outstanding offensive skill player would be needed....be it RB/WR/TE. Plus, a pass rusher would help a lot.

But it is still 95% QB.
