That's not necessarily a racist thing. Profiling isn't racist when it's accurate...it's only racist when someone takes offense to an innocent black man getting in trouble. Age, race, demeanor, time of day, nature of the infraction that caused him to originally be pulled - all of those are contributing factors to probable cause, in my opinion.

Ray wasn't innocent by any means, but he doesn't give off the vibe of some scumbag idiot who can't keep his life in line. He came from garbage, has gone through absolute hell and has been relatively clean his entire career with a small misstep along the way. That doesn't make him a persona non grata to me. Would I take him at 12? No. Nor would I at 19. But if he's available in the second...why the hell not?

  • you still don't get it. i never said he's in the same 'ring' as gordon.

i'm saying why take the chance is all?

sure there prob 75% weed smokers in the league. you know the difference between them, randy gregory and shane ray are? they're smart enought to know when they get tested and stop doing stoopid shit when they have to. other players are too dumb or they don't care.

    which one is ray?

Because he's a top-10 talent. If you can get him in the second for a relatively minor infraction, why wouldn't you? If you're gonna bargain basement shop, you gotta do it right.

  • So, Dion Jordan is suspended all of next season. Picked three spots ahead of Mingo - I guess it could have been worse for us 😉

And that is getting way too stupid, way too draconian, sorry.

First OTA News Conference when Gregory got stupid. Cleveland.com videos

  • And Shane Ray's foot might need surgery. Don't draft this guy until way later. Randy Gregory will be a solid player if he stays off the weed.

And yes, Polian said Shelton was a bad pick for the Browns. He said something like nobody that slow has ever been successful in the NFL.

BROWNS draft La'el Collins and Eddie Goldman and Devin Smith

BROWNS draft La'el Collins and Eddie Goldman and Devin Smith

Compared to La'el at 29 to the Colts in last nite's NFL Nation Mock, Polian practically loved our reporter's pick of Shelton at 12. Bill doesn't think La'el has the feet to play in space and lacks the drive to play inside.

He liked Goldman to the Pats at 32 and is in absolute love with Smith... wherever he is taken, which in the mock was at 25 to the Panthers. Wanted us to take him at 19...

  • Panthers will jump all over Collins at 25..Book it.. News here he don't get to 25..

La'el Collins is now wanted for questioning in the murder of a pregnant woman.

  • I can see it now: 12: Randy Gregory 19: Shane Ray 43: Dorial Green-beckham. Get willie Nelson and snoop dogg to sing the national anthem at the home opener and all is well.

pregnant with triplets on their way to baltimore.

  • ESPN is reporting that offensive lineman, La'el Collins is wanted for questioning in the shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend. Collins is my first choice at 12 and might be the best OL in the draft. So hopefully he was nowhere near this girl when she got shot answering her door.

who knows, maybe her and her unborn child deserved it...

  • Word is he was in Chicago and nowhere near the woman. Witnesses to back it up, absolutely was not him. At least, that's what his lawyer is saying. They're hired a PI to get all the requisite evidence. He'll speak to the police after the draft, most likely.

Never utter those words on this forum again!!!!

What was the PC to search his rig?

According to the report, the officer could smell the marijuana. However, that's kind of sketchy...since it was a tiny amount and it was supposedly in his glove compartment. I'd say the PC to search was the fact that Ray was a non-white who got caught speeding at 6 a.m.

    @miktoxic said:

considering we have a pro bowl WR that hasn't seen the field in for however and won't see it again for another season, would you want a 'weed smoker' on your team?

News for you...there's probably 15 or more of them already on the team. Recreational use was at over 10% back in 2009. I'm sure it's MUCH higher today.

Gordon failed multiple drug tests and multiple colleges, then multiple tests in the NFL. Ray failed one, early in his career at Mizzou. One in three years...compared with three in one year - definitely sounds like he's in the same ring as Gordon.

30 grams is a fat sack. I could smell it across a parking lot

And I just took Ray at 12 in my latest FirstPick sim...

Plus Bill Polian dumps on Shelton for being too slow...

Plus some Celtic dipshit pulls Kevin Love's shoulder out of its socket...

    Aw fuck it...

Too slow? He's 340. I haven't seen any guys that big with his pass rushing ability or motor.

Someone give Polian Shelton's stats on snaps played. You see that and you give him a pass for being slow (which he's not, anyway).

Craziest 40 I've ever seen from a big man. But the 10 yard, shuttle and vertical vereen Poe and Shelton weren't that different.

It was less than 30 grams. They never revealed the amount but it was a misdemeanor which = >30 grams. Could have just been a personal amount. If it was a quarter, though...yeah, that's a decent amount.

  • Ian RapoportVerified account‏@RapSheet

From Missouri St. Highway Patrol: Shane Ray issued a warning for speeding, a lane violation & citation for 35 grams of pot (misdemeanor)

Maybe he forgot to write "less than" 35 grams

    30. 35. Tomato, tomato.

The official booking says "35 grams or less", which is the misdemeanor possession amount. Point is - the actual amount wasn't released...and Rap tweeted it poorly.

  • That is the same type of thing that Dorial Green-Beckham was cited for, it said something like an ounce and a half or less, but it made it seem like he had a bunch when actually it could have just been a joint...
