  • Here is another opinion survey. Give your answers:

    1. Saturday is a big day in sports: The NFL draft continues, the Kentucky Derby is to be run. There is the fight in the evening plus both NBA and NHL playoffs (and regular season baseball).

So, what is your order of preference to entertain yourself?

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

    4. So, women's basketball player Britney Griner goes Rambo on her girlfriend and is facing potential charges. But you barely heard about it. Should the media huff and puff and blow its house down over this girl on girl domestive violence the way it does when a male athlete commits a similar offense.

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

Stay with the draft and record the Derby so I can go watch it during a commercial break.

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

This is the shits and it kills the Cavs chances to win it all.

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

Always been a purest-hated the DH then and hate it now-they should make kickers play RB too in football. 😛

    Cat fight, cat fight!

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

Don't care. Better fight above anyway.

1 Draft 2 .Kentucky Derby 3 The Fight

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

    Still 50/50

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

    No....shouldn't be used at all

As long as the laws are equal, I don't care what the media does.

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

No.......If Pacquiao is motivated to win, it should be the best fight in years.

So, what is your order of preference to entertain yourself?

It depends on whether or not I have some disposable cash to go to the track/casino. My wife likes the ponies and we went to Northfield to see the Derby plus preceding races, and also took a flutter at the casino next door. This year we thought about going to Thistledown for the same thing..but I do need to have the cashish to do all that.

So the order would be: Derby, draft, NBA, NHL, baseball....and I don't give a rat's ass about the fight.

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

Fucked. Though LeBron and Kyrie together could hold some sway, I just think this is another anvil falling on the heads of Cleveland sports fans.

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

Yes, it should, its time. And eliminate offsides in soccer.

    4. So, women's basketball player Britney Griner goes Rambo on her girlfriend and is facing potential charges. But you barely heard about it. Should the media huff and puff and blow its house down over this girl on girl domestic violence the way it does when a male athlete commits a similar offense.

It could, but it won't. There is certainly a double standard.

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

    Yes, I agree with myself.

  • 1. Saturday is a big day in sports: The NFL draft continues, the Kentucky Derby is to be run. There is the fight in the evening plus both NBA and NHL playoffs (and regular season baseball).
So, what is your order of preference to entertain yourself?
    Silly question...

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?
Not as good as they were... May still make the Finals, but tougher task once there without Love.

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?
Nah... I like the change of pace the NL offers.

    4. So, women's basketball player Britney Griner goes Rambo on her girlfriend and is facing potential charges. But you barely heard about it. Should the media huff and puff and blow its house down over this girl on girl domestive violence the way it does when a male athlete commits a similar offense.

It's not a matter of female vs. male. It's a matter of famous vs. who? Lesser known males don't get the same coverage either.

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?
Not really. They are still two of the biggest names in boxing. It's just sad that it could not have happened when they were in their prime.

Derby, draft, NBA playoffs, don't give a rat about the fight or MLBasebore. I'd rather watch soccer.

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

Ask me if they make it past the next round. Kyree, Moz, JR and Shumpert are better than what LBJ had his last trip to the Finals in Cleveland.

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

Yes and yes- and shorten the season to 100 games.

NFL draft. Zero interest in horse racing or boxing.

    Better.

They are the two undisputed top-of-the-line in their sport/weight class. For those interested, it's a huge deal - I'm just not.

Don't really care about any of them. If I had to choose, it would be the Derby because it is a one-and-done event. I gave up on Boxing years ago when the dirt and mud became too much for me to stomach.

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

They weren't going to win against the West any way but, clearly, their chances of even getting there as less without Love.

Bottom Line: I don't really give a ship about the NBA

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

Regardless of that baby pitcher for complaining about getting hurt, I believe MLB should be consistent across leagues. IMHO, adding an additional batter in the NL will make their game more exciting in terms of runs scored.

I guess scoring runs is what it's all about.

Personally, I don't mind the pitchers batting but - in inter-league play, WS, etc.) it is quite a mess.

Hard to huff and puff about ANYTHING to do with the WNBA.

I've seen the story in print but never cared to read about it.

PS On another note, we all know the media is sympathetic about those of Griner's ilk, so they - naturally - won't go crazy about it. However, my first point is the key one, IMHO

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

To me, it is the tree falling in the middle of the forest. Wouldn't watch it for free.

It seems John that you are pretty much suffering from ennui. You need something exciting in your life that you are interested in. What would that be?

I am so jaded with professional sports that it is hard for me to get excited about certain things.

I like (off the top of my head as I need to leave for an appointment)

    • Music
    • Buying and selling "stuff" and related TV shows)
    • College Basketball (Men's, of course)
    • The Boston Red Sox
    • Salt Water
    • Emma Stone
    • Drinking beer

    • The Boston Red Sox Boooo
    • Salt Water Interesting....what's up with that?
    • Emma Stone Interesting. Of all the actresses out there why her? I like her...but she is not overly hot. She does play trailer trash well.
    • Drinking beer Of course
  • Emma Stone. I hear that.

Here is another opinion survey. Give your answers:

    1. Saturday is a big day in sports: The NFL draft continues, the Kentucky Derby is to be run. There is the fight in the evening plus both NBA and NHL playoffs (and regular season baseball).

So, what is your order of preference to entertain yourself?

Derby, draft, NBA playoffs, don't give a rat about the fight or MLBasebore. I'd rather watch soccer.

    Eurofag! 😛

Do you suggest also that the NFL season should be just 10 games?

    4. So, women's basketball player Britney Griner goes Rambo on her girlfriend and is facing potential charges. But you barely heard about it. Should the media huff and puff and blow its house down over this girl on girl domestic violence the way it does when a male athlete commits a similar offense.

    Sure

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

    Yup.

Regarding the first Gip- I'd rather watch pro tennis, or any Olympic sport than baseball. Maybe even the Real Housewives of Atlanta with my wife- and I HATE those phony reality shows.

Regarding football, I'd have no problems with a 14 game season- never happen of course. Now if they knocked around 100 games off the baseball schedule- so an individual game actually meant something, I might start having minor interest.

Emma is more cute than beautiful, if you will.

I've seen her in a couple of movies and she made me wish I were in my early 20s again. Kind of the girl next door. Comes across as accessible. Kind of the anti Kim K, as an example.

Also, I like going to the shore / even the CT Sound as - as a kid - we oftentimes went to the beach. I just like it around the ocean - the swimming and, simply, smell of salt water. Whole Belly Clams, etc.

I watch Pawn Stars and American Pickers. Sometimes Hardcore Pawn for the laughs. Not much into the PBS stuff. It is a hobby but I like it!

UCONN and the Sox............you're just jealous!

I'm very much in the same mind when it comes to cute vs hot. Give me a cute shorter woman with dimples over the long legs and big boobs any day.

Watch draft all day, go to dog track and bet on Derby, go to minor league hockey playoff game, and then watch fight ... I can catch highlights of NBA, NHL and MLB along the way.

    2. What are the Cavs chances now that the fickle finger of fate has again been shoved up our ass?

I think Chicago is now a tough series, but they should prevail with home court. Then they'll still easily beat Atlanta or whoever. The Finals ... I think they went form a 70% chance to a 45% chance of winning the whole thing.

    3. There is more and more call for the DH to be used universally in baseball with year round interleague play and pitchers getting hurt in batting practice etc. Should the DH be used now in all of baseball?

Nope, like it the way it is.

No. who gives a shit about women's basketball?

    5. Do you think.....as I do....that this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is the most overbloviated sporting event that has taken place in a long time?

No, it is properly bloviated, good to see boxing back as a story actually.
