Pullard in the 2nd round???.....cant say that I saw that anywhere.....ever....Id say he went where most people projected him, which was a late round - UDFA type ranking

Id expect this guy to have to really fight hard just to get Tank Carders job. But dont see him as much of a threat to push Kirksey/Dansby/Robertson ......

Hopefully, he surprises me.....but, out of the guys we drafted, my expectations aren't real high here......

SBNation had him ranked the 69th best player available. So now you can say you HAVE seen it somewhere. But don't take my word....read it and weep:

One spot ahead of him was Nate Orchard.

Pullard was ranked way down on CBS at 288. So, opinion is clearly split, ranging from 'he should be decent on special teams at least' to 'he's a leader that will drive his team forward to victory'

Edit: with CBS rankings - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2015/ILB

Well....I wouldn't say "boards"....Id say one guy(Dan Kadar) had him ranked at a silly position......

And ironically, when the very same guy graded our draft, he didnt give us credit for nabbing Pullard in the seventh.....

and then he changed his grade on Pullard from 69th best to 219th best.....(like how he did that?)(pundits....smh)...here's the link...

He was picked 219 overall, not ranked 219th.

  • Unless you think we got exact value for all of our picks 😉

  • yer right.....and I completely missed that....none the less, Pullard wasn't rated as a second rounder on any credible boards, is all Im really trying to say.....

  • Me too - as I said in my previous post, he was ranked 288 on the CBS board. He was the 23rd ranked LB taken according to the NFL board. So, not really a round 2 prospect. He seems a decent player though, probably ends up a ST captain in a year or two.

Why would SB Nation be any less "credible" than any other service out there?

So far we have had a sampling of two opinions.......SB Nation and CBS.

But I believe I also posted another "credible opinion" that did have him up there as well. (I will have to find it again.)

I know that one said the Browns took 8 of the top 100 prospect where SB Nation said 7.

Edit: OK, here it is, I requote from my other thread:

CBS thinks the Browns did even better:

    Cleveland Browns

For a team with a lot of needs, the Browns added a lot of pieces to their roster with 12 draft picks over the last three days. After temptation to possibly package picks for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Cleveland hoarded picks and ended up with 12 selections, including two “safe” players in the first round with nose tackle Danny Shelton and offensive lineman Cameron Erving. The Browns were very active with Pac-12 players (58-percent of their draft class) with Shelton, Utah pass rusher Nate Orchard, Washington State defensive tackle Xavier Cooper, Washington State wide receiver Vince Mayle, USC tight end Randall Telfer, USC linebacker Hayes Pullard and Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. That final pick is tremendous value for a first round player who is coming off a knee injury and likely needs a redshirt season as a NFL rookie. The Browns wound up with eight players who were on my final top-100 draft board.

Who said that? CBS Sports. So, apparently, they don't even agree with themselves.

Round 6 or 7, according to nfl.com, meaning somewhere around the 200 mark, give or take 30 spots.

Like I said, wide variance on this guy......two sources give him top 100. A couple of others say in the 200s.

Being optimistic....lets just say this: I believe he will be closer to prior USC MLB Junior Seau than to prior USC MLB Kaluka Maiava. But if he is more like Maiava.....we didn't pay nearly the same price for him. (Maiava 4th rounder)

  • Floor seems to be at least a special teams ace.

  • If the Steelers drafted Peters in the first I wanted orchard in the 2nd. Peters went to the fucking chiefs. I really like Orchard.

  • Nice sit down interview with Nate Orchard, during the Senior Bown week, mentioned he got to meet Danny Shelton, now they are teammates.

Nate Orchard getting the call from Mike Pettine, cool inside look.

  • We're arguing about a guy who will never start at LB, unless it's because of injury.

  • Pullard? Hmm... let me check it out... Seems like he knows the game, a leader and a guy that can push Robertson and Kirksey for time.

  • We're arguing about a guy who will never start at LB, unless it's because of injury.

Orchard or Pullard? cause I see Orchard getting some serious reps this season depending on the matchup. Some teams we'll have to have Mingo in there if there's some really good TE's or catching RB's. Orchard will probably see a lot of reps against teams we can't put two hybrids in on but don't quite have the threats that require Mingo's services every down.

Again ,you are making completely inane, unwarranted, unsubstantiated assumptions.

If he is in fact one of the top 70 players in this draft.....as a few pundits have said...CBS, SBNation why would you not expect him to have a chance to start?

He has about as good a chance to become a starter as anyone the Browns have taken.

I'm talking about Pullard, the guy Gips keeps erroneously claiming is a second round pick.

I'm excited for Orchard, I think he's going to be a damn solid player.

You're the one making inane, unwarranted, unsubstantiated assumptions. Pullard is not one of the top 70 players in this draft. You're just flat out wrong...again.

CBS Sports has him ranked 288th overall - 14th best interior linebacker, and a 7th round pick or UDFA.

NFL.com has him ranked as the 23rd best linebacker and the 10th best interior linebacker, and a 7th round pick.

You seem to have read one blogger's opinion and then run with it as fact. As Mud said earlier, SBNation is just a collection of bloggers - the same as Bleacher Report...and everybody here gave Mike H. shit for writing for Bleacher Report.

The quote you posted above, about the 8 players in the top-100 is from Dane Brugler...a respected CBS columnist. Unfortunately, Pullard was not one of those players in the top 100. That list has:

    Danny Shelton

    Cameron Erving

    Duke Johnson

    Vince Mayle

    Nate Orchard

    Charles Gaines

    Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

    Xavier Cooper

    The list is here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25139156/nfl-draft-draft-board-30-expands-to-top-100

So...once again...Hayes Pullard is not a second round pick. He's not in anyone's top 100. The list that you've been basing your entire argument off of does not mention Pullard. Pullard is special teams fodder.

Can we put this to rest finally?

  • OK by me...

    And just a reminder CBSSports = DraftScout.com

The same can be said for EVERY fucking draft prognosticator. ESPN is nothing but a venue for Kiper and McShay to express THEIR opinions.....which may be no more relative or authoritative that what is put on SBNation

My sources are the same goddamn sources that everyone of you assfucks use. You just decide to give credibility to those that agree with you, and to discredit those who do not.
