  • One criteria is the use of the word "N*****"? Is this targeting only whites? If it is then this study is racist.

Good point. I didn't read the entire methodology but I wonder what demographic sectors - if any - were excluded.

  • I don't think they can determine the race of the user unless they presume that if searches also included "mayonnaise" "pinterest" and "Larry Bird" the user must be white.

  • I don't know how they rated these areas but a good friend of mine who is black and grew up in the south told me he experienced more racism up north in Ohio than he ever did in the south. It shocked me and I even asked him a couple of times if that was true as I found it hard to believe.

  • I live in WV with my black wife. Apparently lots of people are looking up racist stuff here.

Seriously are you married to a black woman? I have a black sister-in-law, married to a younger brother.

Yup. It made for some pretty funny situations early on. Luckily, she has a sense of humor.

    Cool!

My sister in law is not an American black though, she's an immigrant from Ghana. Came here, worked her ass off, earned a Masters degree, has a good job, never cried about hand outs and entitlements, is embarrassed at how some members of her race here in America behave, and dislikes Obama.

    My kind of black woman.

  • Yeah my wife comes from a family of hard working people who all worked their way through college. She has a sister who decided to be a hood turd after dating a scumbag and it is upsetting the family.

I don't know how your parents reacted, but when my old fashioned Catholic parents found out my brother wanted to marry a black woman they ran to the priest asking "can they really do that?!?!?!?"

Hilarious. Definitely a shocker for them, but once they got to know her they became colorblind.

  • It went over well but we had some early funny moments haha.

We had not been dating very long and I brought her to a cook out at my dad's. A friend of his had shown up early with fried chicken and just so happens my dad had already cut up a watermelon. It wasn't planned it was just a funny turn of events haha.

"Hello Jasmine, we already have some stuff ready to eat. We have some fried chicken and....some fruit in the kitchen." He caught himself haha. She went in there and knew what had happened and cracked up at my dad's pause before saying fruit haha.

I love little things like this - people saying perfectly normal things that when you put them in a different context sound really bad, and that little pause when people realise what they're about to say!
