  • If Brady appeals and they knock it down to 2, that's about right.

The million dollar fine seems right but that 1st rounder seems steep.

I don't believe this is going to be appealed down. He put the integrity of the game in jeopardy, lied about not knowing and didn't cooperate. He's likely going to stay with 4 games suspended and rightfully so. It's not like this is a first offense. Every single one of their titles has been veiled in controversy.

  • A million bucks for a Super Bowl not bad. I forgot about Bountygate and Sean Payton. Payton really got stiffed.

I really don't see this affecting the Patriots much though in the long run. They have an easy schedule and will still win their lousy division. The Dolphins might be a whole lot better but besides them they're competition isn't too scary. Gino Smith or Bryce Petty, Matt Cassell, Tannehill. I will give credit to Buffalo's defense. We'll see.

This is a controversy created by the media and haters. I'm no Patriot fan by any means but if you think every team isn't looking for an edge you're crazy. Every team in every sport is always searching for means, either by the rules or breaking them undetected, to get the upper hand on the competition. We all just happen to down play those we like and those that are irrelevant. The Falcons did something that definitely gave them a competitive advantage and was deliberate but no one cares because they stink. Only naive fans would think under or over inflating footballs is something invented by Tom Brady.

The Falcons like the Browns cooperated fully with the NFL investigation. The NFL stated the lack of cooperation by Brady was a factor in the punishment handed down. I am fine with the league sending a message that non cooperation in an investigation has consequences.

I think you're spot on with that take.

I don't like the Pats at all, mostly because of Bellichick's smug attitude.

With that being said, imagine if Art would have just sold the team and Bellichick was retained by the new owner. We'd probably have all those Super Bowls, the guy knows his stuff.

Sheez, I'm pouring a drink damnit.

  • Drink a beer, get a year, lie and cheat to score and get four.

Another great dealing of "punishment" Rodger *sarcasm*

  • I guess Goodell decided not to issue an apology to Bob Kraft. This is a lot more than I expected. I thought Brady would get the 4 games, which they will reduce to 2......but a 1st round pick? I think that is a slap at Kraft for being an arrogant asswipe. Something I never expected.

It must have something to do with the fact that this may be considered a second or third offense.

I was calling it as a four game suspension- didn't expect the draft picks.

The Pats denied the NFL a second interview after they turned over their phone records.

Coverup, non cooperation is what got them hammered.

Sorry, Belicheat makes a living off of bending the rules.

This is saying- "you better not get called into the principal's office again Cheatriots. The NFL threw the book at them for having the arrogance- at least in the League Office's opinion- to tell them- F**k off, we didn't do anything wrong.

  • As long as Jimmy G can throw a slant pass five yards the Pats fans won't even notice Brady is missing

Because of all their superstar receivers and stud OL? And their blue chip RB?

  • Jimmy G is going to do pretty damn well

  • Sure everybody hates the Patriots, kind of like we hate the Steelers, but I think this evidence was chicken shit. More probable than not? Generally aware possibly? When you start handing down punishment for evidence as vague as this you set a precedent. So when some bullshit charge comes rolling our way we won't have any right to bitch.

Let the Seacocks pretend that's why they lost.

Punch your girlfriend in the face and get two........................

  • Brady got off light - I was expecting at least 8 games (double Farmer's suspension) because I think that screwing with the frickin' FOOTBALL is a very egregious offense.

Patriots got thumped with the lost draft picks and Kraft having to write a check with six zeroes in it.

Love to hear all the whining up here - the Patriots fans are losing their minds! LOL!

    GO BROWNS!!!

  • I'll bet it would be interesting to read a few patriots fans posts somewhere.

Although, I think it's a bit strange that this hammering of the patriots comes AFTER

this last draft. It hasn't been that long.....

Patriots' fans are like Browns' fans and like any other team's fans.

I haven't listened to Boston Radio or Sports TV because - quite frankly - I can, pretty much, predict what is being said.

At 38 (?) years old, maybe the 4 games off will help Brady in the long run.

The heir apparent now knows that he will be starting the first 4 weeks - also an advantage, given the circumstances.

I like the Pats and I like the Browns.

Fans are pretty much cut from the same mold.

PS Aaron Rogers has admitted to using over-inflated balls. In fact, he has been caught during games and the officials, simply, had different balls brought in. What is the difference?

Just another tidbit for ESPN and the NFL to keep the marketing going until training camps start.

  • The Number two cheater in the NFL? The Scumsburgh Steroidlers. Tied for next to lowest? The Cleveland Browns. Been saying this for years. Now here's the proof. http://yourteamcheats.com/

Interesting. Per this formula the biggest cheaters are:

    Broncos 49 cheater pts

    Steelers 46

    Jets 40

    Redskins 37

    Colts 37

    Ravens 35

    Giants 35

And the teams that cheat the least are:

    Jags 12 cheater pts

    Browns 13

    Cards 13

    Rams 14

    Bills 16

    Texans 16

    Chiefs 16

    Bengals 16

Per what I read this scale does include PED use, but does NOT include issues relating to marijuana/other street drugs/alcohol...or things like domestic abuse (or having a player accused and convicted of multiple homicides)

Yeahhh, maybe you wanna take another shot at that one...

Sure...here is the text from that column:

SUMMARY: Former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw admitted in 2008 that he used steroids during his playing career. Bradshaw said on Dan Patrick's radio show: β€œWe did steroids to get away the aches and the speed of healing. My use of steroids from a doctor was to speed up injury, and thought nothing of it. It was to speed up the healing process, that was it. It wasn't to get bigger and stronger and faster.”

Former Saints coach Jim Haslett accused the '70s Steelers of being "the ones who kind of started" steroid use in the NFL.

Said Haslett: "It started, really, in Pittsburgh. They got an advantage on a lot of football teams. They were so much stronger (in the) '70s, late '70s, early '80s.

Former Vikings and Giants quarterback Fran Tarkenton corroborated Haslett's story in a June 2009 interview, saying: "We’re playing the Steelers in the Super Bowl in ’75 or ’76 … we’re on the field warming up, and I see these Steeler offensive linemen with their sleeves rolled up, and they've got these bulging muscles. Later, we found out it that … these guys were juiced … all of them."

"We talk now about (former baseball stars) Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. But how about the Steelers of that era? Did that make a difference? Yeah, it made a difference. It increased their performance.”

  • Any PED cheater gets 4 games...I'm cool with that.

I'm cool with the picks and 1 million.

Kraft needed a few games out of the owners box and Belicheat should have got a year...or make him wear a suit and tie on the sidelines haha

I am not so cool with the picks. I don't know what that has to do with the infraction. To my mind, the only people that hurts are the fans. Fine/suspend the players, but don't harm the fans future. Not that the Patriots fans should be considered all that much....but when they were talking about taking picks away from the Browns over Ray Farmer's situation, that possibility is what made my blood boil.

The only thing I can think of that cause the draft pick forfeiture is the non-cooperation and the pattern of abuse. But, again, still I think you punish the player/coach/owner for that....not the fans. Which is what the draft pick forfeiture does in my view.

Only if they had Tom Brady come with Belichick.

Despite this, Tom Brady is still one of the best QBs ever.
