Waiting for Training Camp Trivia
-
Nice starting theme, Gip... time for me to get back in the game...
1. The Browns in their history have used 5 different sites for their summer training camp. Name these 5 sites:
BW in Berea, Hiram Colege, CWRU campus (though was likely Western Reserve U. back then - they installed a "patch" of astroturf that was still there when I went), John Carroll (?)
Berea and Hiram yes....but per my source they never trained at CWRU...or JC
2. Four (4) NFL teams currently actually use the stadium they play their games in as the site of their training camp. Name these teams.
Cinci, Pats, Texans, and (I think) AZ...
All right except Texans.
3. One NFL team currently trains at a site that was once the emergency atomic bomb shelter for the US government. Name the team and the site.
Wild Guess: Denver at Mt. Thunder
NO
4. Two schools had 10 or more players selected in the 2015 draft. Name these two schools.
I know surprisingly Louisville was one...
One yes.
5. The Browns selected the only players from this school taken in the entire 2015 draft from which Power 5 conference school?
Washington State: Cooper and Mayle
Check
6.A. Per the PFR Career Average Production stat....which player in the NFL in 2014 had the most "productive" season in 2014?
Guess: Aaron Rodgers
B. Per the same stat, who had the most "productive" season in NFL history?
Pretty sure I remember this repeat...
7. Name those teams that have lost 3 or more Super Bowls.
Vikes, Bills, Cowboys
That is half of them
8. Brian Sipe threw for 4000+ yards in 1980. In NFL history prior to that time only 2 QBs had ever thrown for 4000+ yards in a season. Name these 2 QBs.
Joe Willie and Dan Fouts
Check
9. Who was the first person in the history of the NFL to both rush for 100 or more yards and gain 100 or more yards receiving in the same game?
Guess... Lenny Moore
NO
10. What was the last season where on average per team per game, there were more TDs scored rushing than by receiving?
Wow... WAG... 1982
NO...not even that close
11. Name the 6 coaches in history who have the highest number of wins over .500 in their career?
Example: Marty Schottenheimer's career record is 200-126-1 or 74 games over .500. (he is 7th best...name the 6 better than him)
Lombardi, Landry, Shula, Noll, Brown, and Halas(?)
NOT Lombardi or Noll...but yes on the other 4. One other not named.
12. Bill Belichick just won his 4th championship as a HC. Name all the other coaches in NFL history who have won 4 or more titles.
NFL??? Halas, Lombardi, Noll, Landry
AAFC would add one...
AFL would add at least one more...
I am counting AAFC. I am not sure who you are talking about with "AFL". Landry is incorrect. The other 3 are right.

Berea and Hiram yes....but per my source they never trained at CWRU...or JC
Might not have been "camp" at WRU, but the Browns did practice there once upon a time.

NFL??? Halas, Lombardi, Noll, Landry
AAFC would add one...
AFL would add at least one more...
I am counting AAFC. I am not sure who you are talking about with "AFL". Landry is incorrect. The other 3 are right.
AFL addition, I believe, would be Hank Stram... but neither AFL nor AAFC history is "NFL history".

Stram is not right....he only won 2 titles.....1962 with Dallas Texans, 1969 with Chiefs fka Texans........And yes, I should have said Pro Football history, not NFL history.....though hint: the two not named yet did win all their titles in the NFL...not one of the offshoots.
Also....it is possible that at one time the Browns did go to CWRU for their in season practices before the Berea facility was built. But that is not listed as one of their summer training camp sites.

Can we get a check on the questions that are still open?

Hiram, Lakeland, Berea, Kent......& ?
These are correct, there is one more....the first one.
2. Four (4) NFL teams currently actually use the stadium they play their games in as the site of their training camp. Name these teams.

9. Who was the first person in the history of the NFL to both rush for 100 or more yards and gain 100 or more yards receiving in the same game?
Leroy Kelly
NO, but he did do it.
10. What was the last season where on average per team per game, there were more TDs scored rushing than by receiving?

Bullychuck, Shula, Walsh, Landry, madden and Brown
Not Madden, not Walsh, yes on the others.
12. Bill Belichick just won his 4th championship as a HC. Name all the other coaches in NFL history who have won 4 or more titles.
Brown, Halas, Noll, Walsh and Lombardi
Walsh did not win 4. But yes on the others.
Here is a set of trivia, with the first few dealing with training camp locations:
5. The Browns selected the only players from this school taken in the entire 2015 draft from which Power 5 conference school?
Northwestern
No....two players were take from NW...Campbell by Browns and another by another team
lol... looked like you could use a hand so I checked...
The "another by another" was Trevor Siemian (QB) by Denver.
Maybe I am wrong. It wasn't listed that way. I think it just said "Houston Texans Training Facility". Maybe that is the stadium. It sounded like an alternative site.
The Texans' training facility is adjacent to Reliant Stadium... photo by Arian Foster...

Stram is not right....he only won 2 titles.....1962 with Dallas Texans, 1969 with Chiefs fka Texans........And yes, I should have said Pro Football history, not NFL history.....though hint: the two not named yet did win all their titles in the NFL...not one of the offshoots.

Yup... Stram did not win four, but he did win three AFL titles plus one SB. In '66 he won the AFL, but lost to GB in SB-I.
Titles in the SB era, but prior to merger, have real "can-of-worms" potential.

Well, I nor any authortative source that I know count the AFL or NFL titles won by those teams that went on to lose the SB between the years 1966-1969 as actual titles. Those are tantamount to AFC/NFC conference title games won by a team that went on to lose the Super Bowl. I don't see any can of worms. Chiefs/Raiders/Colts/Vikings don't get to count those as titles. You win your last game or you don't. They didn't.
And I will go with the Texans as training at their stadium.....so that makes 5.....one more team is similar then.

Can we get a check on the questions that are still open?
I basically just did that, but here it is again:
1. The Browns have held their training camp in their history at Berea, Kent St., Hiram, Lakeland CC, plus one other location. Name it.
Answered by Canton Mike: BGSU
2. Four teams hold their training camp at their own Stadium: Bengals/Cards/Pats, plus one other team. Name it.
Make it 5 to include Texans....one more left
3. One team holds it training camp at a former US Govt. atomic bomb shelter site. Name team and site.
6. A. What player was the "most productive" player in the league per PFR in 2014. It was not Aaron Rodgers.
6B. What player had the most productive year in history per PFR?
9. Who was the first person in the NFL to gain 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in the same game?
10. What was the last year that teams on average per game scored more TDs rushing than receiving?
11. The 6 coaches with the highest "over .500" winning record in history include Don Shula, George Halas, Paul Brown, Bill Belichick and Tom Landry.....who is the 6th coach?
12. Seven coaches in history have won 4 or more titles including Belichick, Halas, Lombardi, Brown and Noll. Who were the other two? Note the word: history.

Well... as long as you admit you are not an authoritative source...

Personally while I would not double count a pre-merger league and SB victory in the same season, I have trouble discounting the league championship of the SB loser.

By that logic then you must believe that every team that won an AFC or NFC conference "championship game" but lost the Super Bowl must then be awarded a championship. No.

Not at all... Big difference between "L's" and "C's".

Didn't we draft Billy "Boom Boom" Cannon also? Seem to remember that we did...
Also only reason I can think of that I would have had a Billy Cannon football as a kid...
