Report: Browns waive Terrelle Pryor; claim Robert Turbin
Sep 10 2015, 4:47 PMJoe Thomson
The Cleveland Browns are set to waive quarterback-turned-wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, according to multiple reports.
"This will be a mistake by them,'' Pryor said, according Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "nothing shocks me in this league anymore.''
Pryor also told Cabot that the team waived him to make room for former Seattle Seahawks running back Robert Turbin.
One of the most talked about storylines in camp, Pryor appeared safe after making the Browns' initial 53-man roster as one of the team's seven wideouts.
Any team can now claim the Ohio State product, but Pryor is not eligible for the practice squad as a veteran so he will have to be signed to a team's 53-man roster.
Turdbin....terrible.

He'll probably end up in Pisstown.

LOL ... that was my first thought too. One can only hope that doesn't happen.

I don't see it with Pitts depth chart and no PS is not going to help TP right now. Carolina Possible?

I find myself wondering if the Packers might be interested....project & red zone threat?

thought this would've happened months ago...

So, since he has shown absolutely nothing, I'm assuming that all this wailing and gnashing of teeth is Buckeye inspired homerism?

Pryor is raw as hell, he could be good he could be bad. We dont have time to let him develope. The first game he does bad, all the negative shits on here will be calling the FO dumb asses for getting him. If he does great, then great for him. If he were 21 right out of college and picked in the 3-5th round and had been developed properly, he might have been a force. We are in a win now mode and the dude was a fringe 53 any way. Its over now and we have washed our hands of him. Now, when Turbin's high ankle sprain heals, he will be a nice weapon. He has averaged 4.0 ypc and has can catch the ball out of the back field.

Not so much.....it is the recognition that he is an outstanding athlete.....that it was possible that he could make the transformation to WR....a position the Browns seem to desperately need help at......that the team...and fans...invested a lot in him in terms of trying to teach him to make that transition and emotionally (for the fans).
And the fact that we thought he had made the team....and then was dropped like a bucket of water after all that.
That is what has caused the gnashing of the teeth.
He could have been from Florida, or Michigan..or Nebraska...or Kent State or Akron. If he was as good as we thought he could have been...it would not have made any difference.

When a college quarterback runs more than he passes, it’s no shock that NFL scouts project him at a different position. So even though Dennis Franklin went 30-2-1 in three years as Michigan’s first black quarterback and helped the Wolverines tie archrival Ohio State for three straight Big Ten championships, the stark statistics that better predicted his future were: 351 rushes, 294 passes. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder ran the option under Bo Schembechler from 1972-74. That lifted him to sixth in the 1974 Heisman Trophy balloting but didn’t endear him to NFL quarterback coaches. After averaging fewer than nine passes per game while rushing almost 11 times, Franklin fell to the sixth round of the draft before the Detroit Lions took him. With Greg Landry and Bill Munson ensconced at quarterback, Franklin was shifted to wide receiver. His NFL career was underwhelming: nine games, six receptions, 125 yards, no touchdowns. Released after two seasons, he played briefly in the CFL before turning to real estate and television production.

I didn't care about TP because Im an OSU fan, but because he's a freak athlete. Pryor is ill defined as a WR, but the optimism that he may become the next out of nowhere elite receiver was fun while it lasted.

Michael Robinson was a two-way threat high school quarterback when he landed at Penn State in 2002. Coach Joe Paterno sought to utilize his talent by having him play quarterback, running back and wide receiver, and his versatility helped the Nittany Lions to a 9-4 record. He continued to shuttle from position to position the next two seasons, until he became the starting quarterback as a senior for the 2005 season. He was named the Big Ten's offensive player of the year and recorded the school's fifth-best single-season passing yardage with 2,350. He accounted for 28 touchdowns (17 passing, 11 rushing) in leading Penn State to within one second of a perfect season, losing only on the last play of the game at Michigan. But because he's not a prototypical quarterback, Robinson was not taken until the fourth round in the 2006 NFL Draft.
The 49ers converted him into a running back to back up Frank Gore and later used him as a fullback. After four seasons, he was cut by San Francisco and picked up by the Seattle Seahawks. He has spent the bulk of his pro career playing primarily on special teams.

Following in Josh Cribbs’ footsteps, Edelman went from a record-setting quarterback at Kent State to wide receiver and return man in the NFL. A dual-threat QB in his senior season, Edelman led the Golden Flashes in both passing and rushing yards while breaking Cribbs’ single-season total offense record. Apparently aware that his future in the NFL was not at quarterback, Edelman showcased many skills his senior year, punting four time and playing on the punt coverage team as well.Impressed, Bill Belichik and the Patriots took a chance and selected Edelman in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. As a rookie Edelman showed his versatility and toughness, filling in perfectly for an injured Wes Welker when needed. Although Edelman’s playing time diminished in 2010 after Welker's return, he still made an impact, averaging 15.3 yards per punt return. Back with the Patriots in 2011, Edelman is likely to make an impact again wherever he is needed.
