Another Pats cheating scandal?

Check this video out. It appears that the Gillete Stadium play clock operator is taking clue from Tom Brady to add more time to the play clock based on a signal he gives. It does not seem to come from the refs to add this time? Curious.

How is it stupid? Tom Brady signals to the sideline with 10 seconds on the play clock and it magically goes up to 25 seconds? How is that not cheating? What rule says teams get 15 extra seconds?
I guess I have to explain it to you. EVERY QB in the league makes that signal to the ref at least once per game. That signal is the universal signal to add more time to the clock. It's used by refs to talk to the score board operator/time keeper if the ref notices that the time keeper has made a mistake with the game or play clock.
Tom looked at the play clock and noticed something was wrong, and then looked over to the ref to say "hey ref the play clock isn't right" by using the hand signal. The ref was already on it however and had already signaled to the time keeper/score board operator to add more time to the clock. Nothing more than that.
Not everything is a conspiracy with the Pats, and not knowing that this is completely ridiculous shows that you need to study the game more.

Yeah.... what???
I thought the officials kept the time, and made corrections when they go off a bit.
interesting. Like practicing for a closer game.
"well, it happened when we had the game won...so it wasn't ....er...intentional"

Game time is kept on the field. The 40sec play clock is as well, but sometimes the clock operator gets in wrong regarding when to reset at 40sec or 25sec. The official will give a hand signal (the same one that Tom gave to the sidleline judge) to correct it if he notices it early in the count down and "we" (the TV audience) are non the wiser. However if the ref doesn't notice the clock was set to 25 instead of 40 (for example) until there are only a few seconds on the clock and the players (QB included) and coaches are all freaking out, that's when the ref stops everything and uses his mic to ask the clock operator to "put the play clock at 25 and start on my signal". - That we all see of course.
Just like in any high school game across the country, the clock operator screws up at least once per game, and that's being conservative. If any of you are ever bored, go volunteer at your local high school and learn to run the clock (I have and do when I'm not coaching) and you'll understand why this whole thing is beyond ridiculous.

The video doesn't show the refs on this play. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't make the gestures you say they did. I suspect you are right. It just seemed suspicious when the clock seemed to be set back at Brady's motion.
The Pats are not getting the benefit of the doubt from fans.....or other teams. Once Bitten Twice Shy and all that. Where there is smoke there is fire.

For me, I could tell by Brady's actions and don't need to see the side judge / umpire.
First, he's reading his wristband completely focused on what he's doing and while calling the play(s) he glances at the clock (like any QB does) and sees something is terribly off from his internal clock - It isn't the dudes 1st rodeo, and his internal clock is probably more accurate than any watch made in China.
Then he uses the "put time on the play clock" gesture to the ref while yelling to get his attention, and as soon as he realizes that the ref is already on it he stops wasting valuable time on the ref, and glances at the play clock to make 100% sure it's fixed and once he's satisfied it is, he then goes back to giving the play(s).

OK, so, you are saying, they didn't cheat this time......but, you know how the saying goes: Look out for the cheater, look out for the foolhearted clown.

This is just getting pathetic...
"They cheated!" - No, actually, it is very easy to account for the drop in pressure
"... they cheated" - No, actually, the NFL controls the headsets
"...... they cheated?" - No, actually, all QBs do that when the play clock is incorrect

The nfl also controls The NFL Concussion Protocol that Josh is in and living in Carolina I will almost guarantee you since Luke Kuechly puts butts in the seats and viewers on the nfl Luke will be out their concussion free or not. Call it what you want but the nfl has no right to handle any medical issues even with there cracked medical staffs imo? it aint just the pats am watching?
