  • i'll take giordano. can't be worse than anyone else we've got back there, though he is more a FS type than a SS. either way, mangini, it seems, likes to play with two safeties over the top, so his speed would be put to good use.

@ heck: if these are gonna be our corners and safeties and we don't go to a more aggressive scheme or seriously hit on a pass-rushing OLB in the draft, we're in major, major trouble.

though mangini's bringing in 'his guys,' he's not upgrading the talent all that much. yes, barton's better than andra davis, but he's still a marginal player on the downswing of his career.

while i like the sensible approach to FA and the plan to build through the draft, we need a major talent upgrade that five draft picks and a handful of middling signings won't address. i know i need to be patient if we want to build for long-term success, but, damn, the 2009 season is looking effing bleak.

Your right. I am disappointed with myself, I thought I would be well into the hundreds by now 🙁 I am a competitor 🙂 and I do believe this post puts me at the 100 mark 😉 Well on my way to the posting hall of fame 😎

Wow, you mean he set up his profile here 8 days prior to my Birthday?

    Happy birthday, Thaak. 🙂

  • Wow. Wright, McDonald, Poteat, and Ivy. Elam and Pool in the rear. No pass rush to speak of.

This could be a long season defending the pass.

Heck, we didn't get Elam, he resigned with the Jets.

  • Happy Birthday Thaak !

    And, Tob:

    this was hiliarious:

"I vote we move DA to safety.

If he can keep his production the same on the other side of the field we could expect 14-20 picks a season out of him. "

What does that have to do with anything?

  • I really like this signing I wanted him last year. He is a decent spot starter so when we go dime we can slide McDonlad to the slot. Add in a pick from the draft and a few UDFA and we will look much better at CB then last year plus we havent overpaid

  • In games I've seen him play he's done a nice job... I know one things for sure.. he'd be better than Terry "I get beat on the slant route every f***in time" Cousins...

Have you ever heard of a laptop? Besides that computer does not look like it has enough power for my daily posting needs.

McDonald is not a slot player. When Holly was healthy he would move inside and McDonald would take over the outside position. Ivy and Poteat can both play in the slot.

  • Ahhh another ex-baltimore corner.I just hope it isn't Gary Baxter all over again.

  • Lets not kick Mangini and Kokinis to the curb just yet. They are taking a different approach than their predescers did. Savage loved to grab big names through FA (though didnt always work out so well...ei: LeCharles Bently). Looks like the new regime is suring us up at depth first. Which we had zero lasts year after all the injuries. As much as you probably dont want to hear it... but building a playoff calibur team takes time.... I foresee ManKok picking up some playmakers in the draft. Lets not forget its extremely early... I bet were going to see some big trades in the near future as well.

I really can't judge Savage on the injured guys like Bentley and Baxter. Those are clearly freak injuries and think may have turned out different if they were healthy

None the less... we had no (quality) depth at almost any position. Especially on Defense. Get deph for less... and play big in the draft. Im thinkin thats the philosophy in the FO right now.

I agree. The draft is deep with defensive players. I think we can come away with at least one STUD on defense this year. I wouldn't spread the wealth either, if they can get a couple of studs on D then I'm all for it.

  • we can worry about offense next year. get everything you need for defense this year that way they start building a chemestry together

The man played all 16 games last year as a nickle back and his whloe contract won't be as large as Baxter's singing bonus.

Who needs a safety when we have Cribbs

    more crack? anyone?

Thank you. I was beginning to think most here where firmly off their football rockers. I went to Kent State and watched Cribbs play plenty. He's a tremendous athlete and one hell of a return man. I think he could very easily transition to WR but to play safety is ten kinds of crazy....at least to play and be productive right out of the box.
