Wait, 2-4 is Johnny's fault now?

Pettine had to spend part of the presser answering some questions. He and Farmer also had to have a 10 minute meeting, maybe answer a call or two from the NFL. Poor guy. What ever will he do with these 30 minutes that have been zapped?

That's how ignorant you are concerning business! You think this took 30 minutes....ROTFLMAO! Get back to your lemonade stand and hill-jack lawyering......

Did I say it was Johnny's fault..........maybe Johnny reads these threads and will invite you for a night out drinking for being the blind mule you are!

Your need to go straight to personal insults tells me your arguments aren't worth anything.

Yes it is. Even the biggest Manziel hater has to admit that the dude sounded pretty calm and together while being interviewed by the cops. Even if I hadn't done anything wrong, I think I'd still be shitting myself at that moment.

so someone just took you hostage to post your post and make it possibly 14?

Just find it funny that people are so amped over a guy who hasn't proven anything. Manziel has been a circus since day one and done nothing to alleviate it. At this point he causes more problems then he solves and I'd be driving the Manziel for President 2016 campaign bus if, when he did play, I saw Andrew Luck type ability.

Yet you're still contributing to the thread.

Pretty solid article. Johnny drinking is ridiculous. If they cut him on that basis, fine. But don't cut him for merely being "in the news," a "distraction," "he hit his girlfriend," or some other lame and/or inaccurate bs.

  • This team is going nowhere. Start him,if he sucks, cut him.If he balls out, play him out. Stabler,Namath, and many other qb,s were not saints, but they won games, just like Johnny did for us. Either way, lets get a freaking answer this year. Preferably before the rest of the team gives up.

MHO- Kruger had it right- JFF has a choice, either stay with your hot skank party animal drunk GF fade into oblivion, or dump her- tow the NFL line, and get to be a starting qb.

Earth to Johnny- it's not "all good". if you have to control your drinking, you're already out of control- that from my al-anon friends, it's not unusual for a recovering substance abuser to have a "slip" or two before they finally get it straightened out. My fear is the wake up call is going to be when the Browns cut him. FWIW, Manziel's trade value right now is about zero. If the league comes down on him for alleged domestic violence\or substance abuse- he's looking at a suspension.

    A. That's not Pet. Some of the questions were from different angles and deserved an answer, even if it ended up in part being "not going to get into that."

    B. Agree... not all that annoyed... at least not for the first 10 minutes or so. But the question about the locker room not being held accountable clearly stunned and hurt him. He fought to believe it was not true, and it likely is not true, but it hurt. After this and by the end of the JM segment, however, he was annoyed. His sarcasm in reaction to finally being asked a game question showed it. From there it quickly faded.

I'd agree with all that, but he's got to learn to ignore the stupidity. That accountability question was ridiculous on its face, thought not as much as the Moeller comparison.

    1. Good article.

    2. Keep the stuff. In 20 years it's "collectables for ebay".

  • This thing has the potential to get uglier if litigation between JM and his GF ensues and becomes a public circus.. Eventually.. I could see a legal battle between her, the Law.. And Manziel.. And Manziel , vice versa.. This is the kind of attention.. We dont need!

  • So she's going to sue her current boyfriend that she still lives with? Again, bold move, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off.

  • lawyers gotta get paid.

my posts are like the guy/the movie of the wire walker between the world trade centers.

all y'alls are like chicken feed for cats.

  • I'm not a Manziel fan / supporter, but I'm curious. I would like to see him play...get a fair chance to develop. This latest situation is completely blown out of proportion in my opinion. He had no control of what his idiot girlfriend did to cause all this. If he blatantly screws up...again...cut him. He's in control of his own destiny....but don't discipline him for something this stupid.

Sorry about that! We should know that this is a distraction for all..can you imagine every person with the Browns org being asked "what the hell is going on"?

Johnny needs to be respected....known, by his teammates, to be leader, tuff and would go the extra mile.......I can see why the o-line looked so bad with him in last year.....give him a little taste on needs and who butters his bread!

  • I'm not one of the fans that are saying Johnny should be starting while we're still technically in playoff contention, but like most analysts have said, eventually we have to see what we have in our first round selection. In his one start, Johnny made some big plays, but certainly didn't look like the second coming of Russell Wilson. He is still plagued by ball control issues, his accuracy can be suspect, and he is still figuring out when to run and when to throw. Even though I can appreciate him doing a better job of staying in the pocket, there were times against the Titans where he left some big chunks of running yards on the table. He had a few amazing jaunts against the Jets, but most of those runs were negated by terrible penalties. I didn't like the pick when we made it, and I certainly didn't like us moving up to get him, but we're stuck with him for now, and we don't have anyone else. Was I screaming for Derek Carr? Why yes, yes I was. Would I have been content with Mr. Bridgewater? Certainly.

But Manziel is who we have, and at some point we need to see what he can do. If our team performed like we were built to (with a killer defense and good rushing attack), I think McCown was the best to start, and he gave us the best chance to win. But despite their high pedigree, and despite what some metrics say, our offensive line isn't cutting the mustard. Against good defenses, we don't have enough time to throw, and we don't create lanes to run. Would a highly mobile quarterback help to negate some of that Bronco pass rush, or would it have resulted in more turnovers? I went back and looked at the game, and there were several times where McCown could've JOGGED for 15 yards. I think if we lose the next two games, it might be time to put the kid in. For some weird reason, I think we beat the Rams this weekend (I know, I know...I'm an idiot). So at 3-4, it won't be time to put Johnny in as the starter. But I think we lose to the Cardinals, and we all know how we usually do in our conference games, so 3-7 might be just around the corner. At that point...it's time.

Another concern I have is placing Manziel in as the starter when the games really don't mean anything. Will the players still give their all when we're out of the hunt? Are the players really ok with all of the drama this kid brings to the table? I'm obviously not in the locker room, but I have to believe that the veteran players are getting fed up with this charade, right? Was it just a coincidence our defense attacked the Titans' quarterback with Manziel in the game? Does he bring an extra step to everyone because of his style? I honestly don't know, but I think most Browns fans will agree that at some point, it's time to see what we have...if anything...with our precious first round pick. Is he just another Weeden or Brady Quinn? Or is it finally time for us to strike gold at a position where we have historically failed to get right?

  • Let's meet our other QB's ladies:

  • I really don't like Bridgewater

  • Personally, if I were the Browns front office, I would Keep McCown and draft a QB to learn from him. Johnny seems like a bust on and off the field tbh. Even if he is decent on the field, the guy keeps doing dumb shit off the field. Not worth relying on someone like that.

I know Johnny has a 1st round pick invested in him, but, sometimes you gotta cut your losses... Just commit to McCown, try and win as much as possible, and take a stab in the draft. Winning might hurt draft position, but I think the team as a whole would benefit from the success more than having a high draft pick. QBs can be found late round 1, or even round 2 or 3. Pick the right guy and match him with the right coach and system imo.

Move on from Pettine. With a young QB learning, you need an offensive HC.

You do not need an Elite QB.Just a level headed one with smarts and good players around him.
