This is good work out of that guy. This is clearly a situation where the CCW was warranted. Scroll down the article though and you find this....
"Last month, a Michigan woman with a concealed carry license shot at shoplifters fleeing a Detroit-area Home Depot store, flattening a tire of their SUV. No one was hurt, and the suspected shoplifters were arrested several days later. The woman faces up to 90 days in jail after pleading no contest to a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm. Two other shootings in which citizens fired at lawbreakers or potential lawbreakers also happened in September in Michigan."
This is why we can't have nice things. Those people that discharge their firearms in those circumstances should face mandatory 1 year sentences. Firing your gun at shoplifters? This is that dirty harry fantasy that a lot of gun owners got going on, wish there was a way to weed those people out from getting CCW's. It's exactly what anti gun people are afraid of, people who think it's their right now to intervene in any kind of law being broken with deadly force. There probably needs to be a dedicated class for CCW seeking people that goes for a couple days and it's specifically about the circumstances where it's valid to pull your shooter.

If somebody reacts like a police person in a non-threatening incident...
they are toast. They have no legal footing.

the guy who shot the armed man in the process of sticking up a store will not see jail time. That's a cut and dry situation.

Problem today is if you do happen to shoot a person who is harming or stealing from you or a friend/family you better pray the person is WHITE or the media will make you out to be a monster and you will be a marked person with a bounty
