  • Now that the World Series for the 2015 baseball season has been played , here is the last year that each major league city won a professional sports championship, or for those markets with no titles, the year they first had a major sports franchise there. • Note, there are 48 "big league" markets listed here. Kansas City was # 10 among cities that had waited the longest for a title before last night.

Of those 10, 6 of the cities that have waited longest are considered "one horse" towns....i.e. having only one franchise in the 4 major sports: Vancouver, Ottawa, Salt Lake City, Portland, Winnipeg and Sacramento. (3 hockey, 3 basketball). San Diego, Buffalo and Milwaukee are 2 horse towns....though, San Diego may become a one horse town before long it appears And you know who is the only 3 horse town.

Minneapolis/St. Paul 1991 and Wash. DC 1992 are the cities with teams in all 4 sports that have waited the longest.
