Love it or Shove It. Week 9
-
Here is this week's Love it or Shove It. A series of provacative statements made......and you say whether you love it or would shove it.....and why:
1. The Titans are justified in firing Ken Whisenhunt.
2. The Browns should consider hiring Whisenhunt.
3. The Browns should trade Joe Thomas.
4. The Browns should hire Bill Cowher.
5. The NFL wants more games to be played in the UK.
6. Colin Kaepernick's time with the 49ers may be essentially over at the end of the year. The Browns should try to acquire him.
7. The Browns should trade a bunch of veterans as is rumored in order to give Ray Farmer a lot of draft picks to use next year.
8. Andrew Luck and Cam Newton are the two best young QBs in the league. (say...anyone who has come in since 2010)
9. The loss of Leveon Bell will seriously dampen the Steelers playoff hopes.
10. The loss of Steve Smith will seriously harm the Ravens.
11. The Bengals lead now in the AFCN is nearly insurmountable.
12. LSU will beat Alabama this weekend.
13. Kobe is done.
14. A new Star Trek series is being produced by CBS, but except for the first episode which will be shown on regular TV, all other episodes will only be available on CBS streaming service.
15. In a somewhat reality based space issue that sounds like it may be out of Star Trek, NASA is developing a new propulsion system called the EMDrive system. I may actually be able to propel a vehicle without the use of fuel.....and could lead someday to an actual "warp drive system". Here is a link that somewhat explains it:

On the more games in England (Wembley and Tottenham) for us UK fans it great to watch and we pack out Wembley. However, we are conscious of it meaning some supporters of teams are seeing 1-2 fewer home matches a season which just seems plain wrong as you only get 8 home matches anyway! On the other hand do we want a franchise in London when most of us Brits have already chosen our teams? Some probably would love it. For my sins I chose to follow Cleveland and proudly wear my shirts and woolly hats and wouldn't drop them even if the Jags came to London- or any other franchise. I think the NFL should stick as it is. If they want to grow the support abroad they probably have the balance about right, although I wouldn't want to be a Jaguars season ticket holder and one or two of the games in London have been Divisional ones for some teams. There is also talk of Mexico and Germany.
-
And for some of the other ones I am able to give an opinion on:
3. No
9. Yes
10 Yes
11 Yes...although the Bengals did seem to freeze last year when they appeared to have the Division sorted.

I do wonder if you're right about most brits having already picked their team - maybe the NFL is too late to establish a new franchise here, but equally maybe that means that the Jags will be moving to London, since (presumably) they have the biggest group of support outside of glory hunters.
I agree, though, that losing a home game is not cool for other fans. Maybe a superbowl, but that's harsh on the real fans. Perhaps the pro bowl could be in London?

See that's the issue for me gftChris. I would happily buy a season ticket for a new franchise that moves to London. However, the team I have followed ever since the creation of the ratbirds will always be my team. Will the atmosphere at Wembley ever match that at American home games? Will the franchise end up be another Rams? The owner of the Jags moved to London before the States and likes London. Is that the only reason he's pushing for more games because I don't think the Jags support is that bad....will need to go and Google that one!
-
...just checked, the Jaguars home attendance was 65,000 last year on average.

Here is this week's Love it or Shove It. A series of provacative statements made......and you say whether you love it or would shove it.....and why:
1. The Titans are justified in firing Ken Whisenhunt.
Shove it. I think they acted prematurely. That team is just now rebuilding with a rookie QB. What did they want? (someone else to coach their rookie QB apparently)
2. The Browns should consider hiring Whisenhunt.
Love it.....in this sense: IF the Browns dump Pettine....which I don't think they should....then yes Wiz should be a guy on their list of interviewees. Not that he should be the choice....but he should be considered.
3. The Browns should trade Joe Thomas.
Shove that. You don't trade a Hall of Famer. Absurd.
4. The Browns should hire Bill Cowher.
Shove it. Cowher has no heart for coaching at this point. 25 years ago, perhaps. Not now.
5. The NFL wants more games to be played in the UK.
Shove it. Home games should be played in NFL home stadiums.....except Jacksonville, Miami, and other places where they don't care about football.
6. Colin Kaepernick's time with the 49ers may be essentially over at the end of the year. The Browns should try to acquire him.
Probably shove it. But, you never know. Some say that he is not as good as Johnny. I didn't see Johnny leading his team to 2 Conf. title games and Super Bowl which he nearly won.
7. The Browns should trade a bunch of veterans as is rumored in order to give Ray Farmer a lot of draft picks to use next year.
Yea, shove that. At this point I trust Farmer's drafting ability as far as i can throw Danny Shelton.
8. Andrew Luck and Cam Newton are the two best young QBs in the league. (say...anyone who has come in since 2010)
Love it. Only other persons in the mix are maybe Russell Wilson and the two rookies....if they do something.
9. The loss of Leveon Bell will seriously dampen the Steelers playoff hopes.
Love it. He was a weapon. DeAngelo Williams may be a decent runner, but you can't replace one of your best weapons with a backup.
10. The loss of Steve Smith will seriously harm the Ravens.
Love it and shove it both. I think the Ravens are sucky with or without him....but this leaves them more sucky.
11. The Bengals lead now in the AFCN is nearly insurmountable.
Love it....for purposes of the statement. And it would be even moreso if they beat the Browns Thursday. But I don't love the concept. Though, probably better them than the other two sniveling teams in our division.
12. LSU will beat Alabama this weekend.
Love it. I think this is LSU's year in the SEC.
13. Kobe is done.
Love it. Stick a fork in him. Oh, he may still be able to score some points and do some things....but he won't ever lead a team to title contention again.
14. A new Star Trek series is being produced by CBS, but except for the first episode which will be shown on regular TV, all other episodes will only be available on CBS streaming service.
Love the new Series.....Shove the fact that it won't be on general TV.

Love this. It would be great if it could really be developed. If done right I understand that a craft could reach Mars in like 10 days. with this.

Love it, but we're at the very beginning of a long space age - many of us probably won't be around by time this EmDrive that in theory is used on a space craft - if it ever happens - it hasn't even been tested in zeroG yet.
