I can remember listening to this song with a friend - ( sitting around and listening was an activity!)

way back when and thinking how really cool this was... probably opened my interest in rock music

and changed my radio station to WMMS like my older brother had on....

  • man i miss ohio radio. yeah we have sirius radio in the car BUT if you were to hear NY radio you'd flippin puke. one of the biggest markets in the world and they have classic rock which plays the same songs on the hour every hour and pop and r and b.....and they all suck ass.

what happened to listening to a b-side song from triumph while driving down the road?

    fugg.

    maybe something new like:

  • I've read of stations that repeat the playlist every 18 minutes or so because research found that was the average drive time.

  • my fave irish band ever:

saw them live in boston. OYE! shoulda just put saw dust on the theater floor so mopping up afterward would have been easier.

  • fave aerosmith song:

what a fucked up LP cover shot. is that dude actually cradling steven tyler? uff.

  • a must have if you don't have it already:

    everything is broken up.....and dances.

"but i'll tell you this man.....i'm gonna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames!!!"

  • video bombing this morn. sorry guys. in the mood for some loud music. poster i did for my friend's co @ comicon last month and the song to go with it. (most will hate it, but...)

not a huge doors fan. been in many a bar where the old 'classic rockers' stand up and play the same old tired songs.

BUT 'american prayer' was so different. i think morrison recorded these 'poems' before his death and the band found the recordings and put the music on top of them.

  • They didn't interest me pass the first album and even then Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger received too little acclaim and Jim Morrison too much. In my opinion.

agree. found out later that krieger was trained as a classical flamenco guitarist.

  • for those who don't know. you have to know.

  • one of the best shot visuals i've seen in a long time.

    song ain't half bad either.

  • another 'new wave refresher'.

    ULTRAVOX

  • Here is a well know song.....which many many people have covered....yet the version sung by the writer himself of the song, Leonard Cohen is farely obscure. Here it is:

To me, he comes off almost as a cross between Tom Waits and Leonard Nimoy.

    Ditto...

Never owned a single thing by the Doors until I picked up a double-CD, Anthology set maybe 15 years ago. Put it one night just for background and went to work in another room. Within a half hour I moved into the listening room for an extended, listening in the dark session.

It was the music that made me focus on them... had never really listened past Morrison and his lyrics. Had never heard how friggin' musical they were.
