    They played together last year.

    It was spectacular.

  • we won't be getting Bosa with no 1B pick. I don't see him dropping out of the top 3. If Blt ends up with the #1 pick, that's likely who they're gonna take. And that is our worst nightmare. • Sell the poor kid to jones. Just get him out of here. The browns office clearly doesnt want him. Getting rid of him then becomes a win win. Take a third. Just get the guy out of cleveland and let him go somewhere else.

My thoughts exactly. If there is any chance Manziel is going to develop into a legit starter, it's not going to be here under Pettine.

I really don't see Pettine allowing any young QB to take the reigns, so if a trade were to happen be prepared for another two years of McCown vs. new guy controversy.

When is this cycle ever gonna end? I mean they're closing in on 30 starting QB's since the return, statistics have to be in their favor that they can find a good QB by accident soon right?

  • I think the problem is they no regime ever buckled down and built competent O and D lines. That's why they never enticed an elite QB here nor were able to develop one. We had glimmers throughout the years, I remember Weedon's first year he had 45 seconds to throw the ball. Run blocking sucked but at least they pass protected, than for some reason that pass protection completely fell apart the next year.

I just don't get it here in Cleveland, we always see something building on either side of the ball but it never lasts more than a season. Other teams build on core competencies they develop, here in Cleveland we do something alright for a season than scrap it. Remember some years ago when we had one of the best secondaries in the NFL, at least in terms of INT's? Remember the one year we had an awesome running game but the next year they scrapped the FB that had a big part to do in said running game? By what he didn't do for other teams Hillis kind of proved he was the product of the system that year. Why wouldn't we try to build on that even with Hillis gone?

  • Remember when Trent goddamn Richardson rushed for damn near a thousand yards and got a dozen TDs?

that was all O line, evidently.

  • ^ Coaching staffs change like the weather, and they all want to bring in their guys to run their systems. It's really lack of continuity that kills the team. I think we hit rock bottom after they fired chud. No one worth a damn is going to come here, so now we're stuck.

I thought Pettine was going to be more flexible after all the talk we heard upon his hiring, but he's starting to look like a stubborn ass who's gonna run his system even if it doesn't work without all the right pieces. With Farmer picking out the pieces who knows if he'll ever get the right ones. I think one of them has to go before the ship really gets righted, and at this point it's got to be less detrimental to part ways with Farmer.

I see what you did there LOL.

I have never played on an NFL team so I may be wrong but I wouldn't think that the GM would have much effect on Sunday's other than the actual players on or not on (Dwayne Bowe) the field.

I have seen no evidence that these two have been able to work together. Farmer seems to be an ego maniac and wants prove to the world that you can win with a hodgepodge of no name offensive skill players and aging defensive veterans.

The last thing the team needs is a toxic power struggle between the coach and GM.

  • FWIW, in terms of skill players, Duke Johnson is 3rd among rookies for receptions and receiving yards.

So Pettine may have been right on Johnny at halftime

Count me in as one of those ready to crucify Pettine for his halftime comments on Johnny but this film analysis supports Pettine's statements that Johnny was leaving a lot of plays on the field.

SB Nation: Johnny Manziel isn't ready to start not even close

Wow... even I did not think JM was this bad...

"On almost every one of Manziel's positive passing plays he actually also lost yards. The only passing plays where that wasn't the case were generally the screens that he threw. On plays where he had to actually decide who to throw to based on the route combinations and coverage, Manziel almost inevitably found ways to minimize the offense's production.

By the end of the game it didn't look like any of his receivers were still running their routes as hard as they had been. Probably because at that point they were no longer expecting him to actually sit in the pocket and go through his reads which made their crisp routes null and void."

Edit: A couple of the writer's "critiques" are a tad over-the-top, but others are valid.

Ouch....that's some pretty harsh commentary. I didn't read the article, I'm too lazy and i figure enough of you will do it and give me the highlights but it sounds fairly negative.

The cliffs notes are what some of us have been saying all along......he doesnt see or hit the open man nearly enough.....and breaks out of the pocket, when he could have just thrown the ball to the open receiver(who he didnt see)....

There is a reason Josh hits 65-70% of his passes, while Johnny hits 50-55%.....(with the same OL & WRs).....vision....

Simplified even more....he's just not very good. Got it. Can we move on from this midget now?

He'll be our QB for the next two years. Better get used to it.

I don't think that will be the case but if so...I'll root for him just like I have all the other QB's we've had.
