Considering the Steelers injuries, I can see the browns pulling out a win. Landry Jones is excellent off the bench, he sucks when he knows he's gonna start.

That's right boys, better make your excuses in advance for this one.

Boys? That would mean they have a pair.
  • The Bungles are elite. At least at the moment they are. We'll see how they look in the playoffs.

I'm talking about an elite franchise. I'm not saying you're wrong, its just that we have two different ideas of what elite means. They've finally put together a string of winning seasons, but let the bengals win a stinkin playoff game and a Super Bowl before we dub them an elite franchise.

Eliteness is earned over time through a body of work.

Not an excuse, it's a reason.

"We turned the ball over", "poor play calling", "we made too many mistakes" are excuses for losing.

The steelers aren't even close to elite at this time.

Their offense is definitely elite (when healthy), defense below average. Combine that and you get an average team. Browns are below average on O and D but have elite special teams woohooo

They are what their record says they are. And that's not elite.

The franchise is. Dallas blows but its always special when you beat those punks.

No. Dallas is also suck. You can't look to the past all the time.

By your definition the browns are elite based on past accomplishments. I disagree wholeheartedly with your assessment. The past means nothing in the nfl. Especially ancient history like 40-60 years ago. There is only the here and now. New England is the elite franchise of the league. Pittsburgh is in the next tier of teams that's had a good level of recent success. You're right there with the Giants and the Ravens.

Actually, THOSE are reasons. Real reasons why you lose a football game.

"We have too many injuries" ... before the game is even played ... that is pre-made excuse, my friend.

    What the hell....

  • Landry Jones has a sore elbow. It seems he was pleasuring himself in the tub and the corner of his elbow hit the tub repeatily and now he's probable for Sundays game. Big Ben got wind of this and is giving him pointers on how to relieve "tennis elbow".

Looks are always relative, while championships are championships.

    Playing catch up sucks huh?

  • The irony is that the steelers deluded fans discredit championships from 60 years ago while crowing like imbeciles about championships from 40 years ago. Neither one is relevant now but they all existed.

They act like there's an expiration date on championships.

It's a simple thing for squeeler fans... if it happened before 1970, it doesn't count. That's when they all think the NFL started.

  • Grab a casual fan off the street and ask them to measure a franchise. They aren't measuring on pre nfl merger wins. It's all in the super bowl era and since the super bowl has become a thing that browns have been pretty bad. It doesn't mean you shouldnt be proud of them but they aren't part of nfl success in this era. Super bowls or bust.

  • We'll wait for our team to go to super bowls WITHOUT STERIODS,

and taking out deliberate "hits" on qb's.

    K. The entire nfl was using steroids in the 70's and the steelers weren't even the first to do it. Ask the chargers. Fair criticism only the steelers have won two more in the last 15 years and went to a third.

The changing of the name of something does not get rid of everything that happened when it had the previous name. I guess you think if we rename it the Pencil Bowl and then BOOM, the Patriots suck they have never won a Pencil Bowl!

And the NFL merger and the Super Bowl era are not synonymous.

Put "steroids NFL 1970s" into google and literally the entire first page is only links regarding the Steelers steroid use.

    ESPN disagrees....

"Steroid use was, after all, not banned by the league at the time, and I wonder if the spotlight has fallen on the Steelers largely because they were so damn good. Not everyone agrees, though. "It started, really, in Pittsburgh," Jim Haslett said in 2005 while coaching the New Orleans Saints. "They got an advantage on a lot of football teams. They were so much stronger [in the] '70s, late '70s, early '80s. They're the ones who kind of started it."

The Steelers challenged this statement, of course, but the ramifications -- and suspicions -- linger. A 2009 investigation by ESPN into the Steelers' history with performance-enhancing drugs found an alarming number of former players suffering from heart ailments. "Even if there is no pattern or clue linking the deaths to steroids," wrote the article's author, Mike Fish, "since 2000, 17 former Steelers have died before they reached the age of 59.""
