Well, Johnny's personal life has affected his ability to perform on the field- because he couldn't lay off the party circuit for one stinking week. When you tell the coach (and the media) one thing, do another, and then lie about it- draw your own conclusions.

The only issue that matters here is insubordination. A head coach can not afford to be made to look ridiculous if I'm a quote Jack Woltz

    The rest is bullshit.

(now admit it, who supported Bernie Kosar when he was insubordinate?)

LOL! I know exactly what you're doing and it's masterful. Here's the chance for the Todd Philcox Football Follies fan club to be heard. Where are ya Ghoolie?

All that damn Kosar did was lead us to 3 AFC Championship Games especially considering how many playoff games we won before and after Kosar. I'd say that's a pretty big difference in terms of what Kosar accomplished vrs what Manziel has right down to how much of the playbook they were willing to know. There was a big difference in commitment regardless of how much each guy liked to party in his 20s. If Manziel had already proven he had full command of the playbook - nobody would give a rat that he likes to party like a kid in his early 20s.

Bernie was the QB who transcended the University of Miami football program from the Jim Kelly 6-6 to beating a much more talented/heavily favored Nebraska team in the National Championship as a red shirt freshman. Guess what QB he started over? Vinny Testaverde, who later choked in the National Championship game throwing a bunch of INTs. Guess what started getting top local football prospects more interested in the U? National Championship #1... Pretty soon, that program no longer required an elite QB to carry the team because they started getting enough talent that could carry QBs that weren't NFL material like Walsh, Erickson, Toretta, etc.

So what came next for Kosar? The team that grew old enough to get Sam Rutigliano fired with a piss poor record drafted Kosar, who would play QB in the NFL playoffs for us as a rookie before leading us to our first AFC Championship Game 1 season later. In each of the first 2 AFC Championships - Bernie put us in position to win late in the game. 1 time after getting the lead late where only a TD could tie us with 98 yards, the top ranked AFC D and 1 minute 58 seconds remaining with our homefield advantage - I can't blame a QB that got us enough points to be ahead by 7 points the last time he had the ball in regulation. Another time, we were a fumble at the goal line from tying Denver with 38 points the last time we had the ball. I'm sure some will inform us how much better it is to sell tickets to remaining home games at preseason prices with 6 games to go while we're partying like it's 1999.

Just like Byner, Kosar went and got his Superbowl ring elsewhere from an even dumber franchise that needed him to start and win a playoff game for the injured starter. This was such a dumb QB as Ghoolie puts it that Dan Marino's game winning TD pass vrs the Jets came when the idea to fake spiking a pass to stop the clock came from Kosar so Marino could hit an uncontested WR in the end zone. We don't need any more winners like that around here. We're getting spoiled rotten here with winning zero playoff games since the 94-95 season. That's only 22 years ago... We've won 1 playoff game (just a wildcard game) since Kosar left. We didn't even win a playoff game when we had a league MVP playing QB here in 1980 so I never understood the hatred for Bernie up against what we've accomplished through all other QBs between 1970 and 2015.

Nobody knows what shook out except the 2 guys that confessed to wishing they handled the parting of ways much differently. I'm good with that today.

  • The day Kosar had an ankle injury, sometime in the first half..vs the Jets?

and stayed in the game, for the rest of the game, and WON THE GAME, in overtime maybe....

I'll take that kind of "insubordination" anytime. You draft guys who love the game.

Kosar was in perfect control of himself back in the day. He lives in pain from all

the broken bones and tears from getting the hell beaten out of him.

Asswipe Buttichek let Kosar get the hell beaten out of him.

Buttichek learned a hard lesson from being stupid with the Browns - he went to a talented but losing Patriots team, and DRAFTED OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, which he NEVER did in Cleveland, because he was

a dipstick, and yes, Mike Lombardi was an ignorant slug, wouldn't let buttichek draft troubled

    Warren Sapp.

Even drafted a kicker in the 4th round in 06.

But Johnny Manziel had his chances, and blew it after being named the starter,

all last year while being a backup, drank way too much in college....

Just woulda never drafted him at all. Canton Mike will vouch for me on that. JM just wasn't a fit.

Can't blame asswipe lombardi on that one...

  • A lot of you want to get rid of Johnny. You say he not got what it takes to succeed talent wise. Well with some off. weapons Manziel is our q.b.going forward next yr. He has showed he has improved each game ,he has played this season. The haters will say he won't be here next yr. not so fast Haslam loves Johnny because he knows he a winner and ultra competive. Draft Bosa and fill the rest of the draft with off. players let Johnny play to his skill set and he will make believers of all you doubters.

  • Can we just admit hoyer is the best and most winningest quarterback we had since 99' and the fans pressured us to get rid of him? He's on a playoff team right now, when he was here he made our OL look incredible with his fast release. Just saying - screw Manziel who has been nothing but a scrub.

    Who's been better?

Manziel has proven nothing. Guy came in with subpar NFL skills but good athletic skills. Totally flopped last year - but now it's a wash because we basically call 2015 a do-over of his rookie year - now he loses his starting job because he lies to his team.

Personally, I'd be much happier with Hoyer now, never drafting Manziel, and wait until we get our future QB - Hoyer is good enough to win frankly, longer term stop gap than mccown to find our future.

  • Finally a Manziel thread with underlining...
  • Fumbles a good bit

    Kinda small

    Won't dive for yardage

    Relapsing substance abuser

    Pink champagne?

    Breaks easily

Well it is apples and oranges but I would say with the offensive line the defense and special teams playing as well as they did first half last season, most of the quarterbacks we have had would have taking the team to the playoffs.

Limiting blindside hits will minimize the fumbles.

It's the size of fight in the dog, not the size of the dog in the fight that matters.

I don't know who you've been watching, Manziel CLEARLY does whatever is necessary to get yardage... if you are referencing the TD that was stolen from us on the 1/2 inch line, that was clearly a TD.

Who the FUCK CARES WHAT HE DECIDES TO DRINK?! YOU? Who the fuck are you? Should he chug some natty light off the back of his pickup to appease the masses? You ever thought that maybe Steeler Fans are the ones that create such a fuss about Manziel, just to pop off, create a big TMZ deal to see Cleveland struggle even longer. They are everywhere around here and most of them hate Manziel because he's the future and Cleveland will be kicking their asses for years to come. Up in arms Ohioans about Manziel's lifestyle? Really?

Nobody knows if he's a substance abuser. He could have been told that he isn't an alcoholic and just needs to partake in moderation. Maybe, just maybe, he's just a young man that like to have fun and he'll grow out of it if you leave him alone. The constant telling him what he can and can't do will probably make him want to drink more.

Breaks Easily? Oh! You mean like when that faggot Steeler tried to rip off Manziel's head and he pops up and drives the ball downfield? oh, ok.

yes he has been the best qb since '07 and anyone who says different just can't read,

    BUT

the fans didn't want him gone....he wouldn't accept the contract offered by the browns and went to houston where they'd pay him more.

    simple as that.

opps. '07 was the correct answer.

best since anderson and they're both bums...which goes to show you how bad manziel is.

hey with the loss of romo the trade to dallas is looking sweeter!

  • Manziel will be fine and have no doubt he will be starting games before the year is out.

Now on to the really problem you got to know your organization is really messed up when guys are talking about Hoyer or Anderson as being the best QB you have had sine 1999.

As to substance abuser, his Fanboys have their heads in the sand. Been partying like there's no tomorrow since high school.

Only question is how much more of his crap is the Browns management going to stand for? Most of the outside the organization talking heads think he's as good as gone.

That said, I really hope Johnny can't get his act together. For sure, the Browns would be monumentally stupid to 100% count on that happening.

  • Theres something that happened that the public does not now. Not just the short instagram video. Teammates alluded to it and many national media members have said Johnny will never play another game for the Browns. Sorry time to move on. Just have to draft the right guy next year no matter when the pick is taken.

  • @miktoxic said:

nor manziel a professional QB. 4-5 months after rehab he has 2 publicly recorded ridiculous events based upon his behavior off the field.

    and that's pettine's fault? lol.

at this point the browns are dealing with manziel like the cowboys are dealing with hardy even though incidents are polar opposites.

distractions on any level given a player's record of such events are just that. distractions.

and i still got a six that says pettine isn't fired.

    so......

When I'm right, you can keep the six. I know you need it.

bible-thumpers? people who don't drink? fairy boys? queefs that prefer wine? recovering alcoholics/addicts?......oops, sorry. didn't mean to bring up your boy johnny.

still won't bet cuz you have no balls or no belief in your convictions?
