Russian beheaded by ISIS

  • People in the middle east, like a lot of them....are claiming that they've literally watched American heli's air dropping supply's to ISIS. The whole thing of why haven't we nerfed the oil production of ISIS is kind of telling. Than there's that video of Turkish border guards, an ally, chumming around with ISIS soldiers. Saudi is probably firmly behind ISIS sooooo....................this is messy. We know now that the group that became isis, sons of Iraq, were at one time on the U.S payroll.

    Anybody else seeing this?

  • People aren't happy. Only something like 25% of people were in favour of bombing Syria, while about 50% were against (and the rest unsure). I think the main point is the hypocrisy of Cameron, who said this:

    Screen-Shot-2015-12-03-at-11.44.42-am.pn

Apparently ours won't? Because we presumably have magical peace bombs that don't explode but sprout daisies.

Anyway, the biggest thing is the lack of clear direction. Are we going fully in to defeat ISIS? If so, why no troops on the ground? Or are we staying out of it? If so, why are we doing anything? Air strikes might hit a few targets, but will inevitably also cause collateral damage, and thereby breed more members to recruit, who also now have lost a home/job/loved on because of western bombing and are offered a way to do something about it as well as a home/job/money by joining ISIS.

There's no coherent plan to replace ISIS as the de facto leader in those places, no plan for stability in the region, just creating another vacuum and hoping a new ISIS doesn't fill it.

It really wouldn't surprise me. They quickly rose to power somehow...

  • yeah I read that, but the more poignant piece was about the origins of Isis. They all came from U.S camps, they were on U.S payroll as the "sons of Iraq". Something just isn't adding up.

  • We were arming "the rebels" knowing damn well that they were completely infiltrated by ISIS. The U.S. then went on to allow the ISIS oil business to continue while they were more than capable of stopping it. Turkey and the U.S. are the bad guys in this which is fucking awful.

Don't forget Saudi Arabia. If you're in Yemen, Saudi Arabia is 'ISIS with wings' I read the other day.

Putin will commit to putting boots on the ground sooner rather than later.

Whoever's involved has to. Airstrikes are looking mowing weeds. Sure, it'll work for a short time, but they'll grow back. Troops on the ground are the weed killer, and local troops don't seem to be a strong enough weed killer.

The reason air strikes are seemingly so ineffective is because of the rules of engagement.

A country like Russia who doesn't follow the same rules us and our allies do have been much more effective in their air campaign because if they see an isis oil field they don't care about the environmental impacts or if civilians may be nearby or working there, they blow it up.

And I stand by my opinion that the FSA is a terrorist organization - and we give them weapons.

Top IS defectors have already said they infilitrated the FSA by using money - Isis people have gotten top positions and base their strategy in ways that benefit the IS.

Not to mention the FSA is a terrorist organization regardless, they may not be as brutal as isis but they don't care about shooting defenseless pilots out of the sky and they are pretty much looking for their own islamic state too.

The "moderate" Syria the FSA wants is awful in comparison to what Assad's Syria was.

  • BTW, this speech, given last night in favour of bombing Syria, by an opposition MP, is well worth a listen.

Should be no suprise. Isil is supplied and reinforced across theTurkish border. Turkey is the rest, relaxtion and honeymoon destination location for isil terrorist. Isil plundered oil is shipped across Turkish boders.

Turkey is a member of NATO !
