I don't think there's any doubt that Trump is an expert fiddler and the media is the fiddle.
Pretty impressive that the guy has spent basically nothing compared to all the other candidates but continues to build his lead.
But the republican primary voters are a different group than general election voters, don't forget.

That's because the pundits have to create excitement. You can't just logically shrug your shoulders and say 'well I don't think that's feasible.' They have to go into a slobbering and scream about hate speech and stupid shit that nobody really cares about.
