If the love is there for Manziel then the Browns need to sign Kaepernik since he is the bigger, stronger more successful version of Manziel. I wouldn't be opposed

Kaepernic wont be in the league in 2 years...he doesnt have it, the drive, poise whatever you call it. Hes more interested in dolce gabanna watches and tats.

As opposed to the guy drinking less than 6 months out of rehab?

  • Well there's no point in arguing because this is a pretty subjective point. I just find a hard time believing Manziel's energy didn't feed into a lot of what we saw today. The good part we get to see what that means against much better competition the last three weeks of the season.

And that's fine, jrb... I just saw a lot of sources of energy. I do have to say, however, that any JM energy was left on the field. He was deadly dull and subdued in his presser for a winning QB.

Totally agree on next week starting a real test.

  • In all seriousness JM played like an average starting quarterback. However considering he's a rookie is a compliment. I expect/hope he gets better. As teams get more nfl film adjustments will be made and then we'll see if he can counter. To me that's what will make or break him outside of injuries and off the field crap.

  • W Why

For the love of god please do not draft a QB.

Not saying Manziel is gonna be the guy, but he could be serviceable for a couple seasons while they get the rest of their shit together. He's played well for two games, and has shown signs of improvement. Still needs to learn when to chuck the ball out of bounds

That play where he made 5 guys miss was priceless

Can't have that kind of mentality. If the right fit is there at the right time you have to pull the trigger

  • Great win, gay thread title.

    Zombo

  • Im all in on Johny the QB now, I've seen enough ON the field.

    Off it, entirely different story.

  • I'm definitely a Manziel hater, sorry to admit. It's over his off-field antics, immaturity, and I just think he's just too small for the NFL.

That aside, I thought he did an outstanding job today and was very impressed. Bone-head interception but I'm sure that's one he regrets. His elusiveness and ability to extend plays is impressive.

I disagree . . . How many prospects have we ruined drafting them into a dumpster fire.

Not even Andrew Luck would have succeeded on these teams.

Great, more "dad rhetoric" from TOUR.

That stadium was chanting his name, and it was on a different level and tone today. He's just getting better and better. Kid made some off field mistakes but the dawg pound was popping today.

But you, like misery, loves company.

Pettine, O''Neil, and everyone else did great too.

  • The point is that the reason he has to extend the play is that he is incapable of going through progressions the way the play was designed.

Every time he runs around in the pocket, instead of saying "that's nifty" you should be asking "How many open Browns routes did he not recognize correctly, and why is he showing his back to his receivers"

This argument is so fucking stupid it's ridiculous. Every QB is going to miss open people, all that matters is that he moves the team down the field. It doesn't matter if that's from the pocket, out of the wishbone, or scrambling. It is god damn nifty because he led the team to almost 500 yards of offense, how can you complain about that? I swear to God I don't understand what you people want sometimes. Who knows it may not translate long-term but this game it sure looked pretty damn good.

Also, Johnny had several nice passes from the pocket today unless you were watching a completely different game than I was...

  • yeah...Im not jumping off the pier with excitement, because his best game(today) is about average for the season(and McCown)..

BUT.....clearly he is getting better each game and looks like he belongs(which is what we want...right?).....and you cant deny the anticipation and excitement level get cranked up a notch when he plays...

So...no where near "worse case scenario" or where he was this time last year.... im encouraged....

Big Ben, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, and Aaron Rogers are notorious for running outside of the pocket and finding receivers.

This is Johnnys like 6th career start? Give it a break

    He's not a rookie

  • All we get is the Red Zone! They didn't show anything! I wanted to know how the running game came to life today after disappearing all season?

  • But but but he's short though

  • Browns win next week. Upset of the Year. BOOK IT.

The Browns will get drubbed and brought back down to earth next week 😛

and he goes to the dancing clubs and listens to that new hip hop music too.

  • 21-31, 270 yds, 1/1. More importantly, a Browns win. How many Browns fans thought this was possible from Johnny last year?

I realize he set some bridges on fire with his horrible first year, but he looks nothing like he did last year. He hasn't looked like that even from game 1, when he filled in for a concussed McC.

The only two games I've been able to watch were Tenn and Pitt. He played well in both games. You don't throw for 370 yards against the steelers if you have no NFL ability.

He makes some stupid mistakes. Yes, second year NFL qb's do that. He also has the ability to turn -10 yard sacks into 70-yard touchdowns. All you that say he's too small, did you watch the Pittsburgh game? He continually got hit and got back up to keep fighting.

I realize Johnny invites haters because of his actions, he's his own worst enemy that way. But those that have said Johnny lacks the necessary skills or measurements to play in the NFL have already been proven wrong. He is playing well, he's played well all season.

And he's only going to get better. I admit, his off-field stuff causes concerns, but on the field, he is a valid starting NFL qb. I type all of this while watching Matt Cassel look like dog shit. It's hard to play qb in the NFL. Johnny is 23 and playing well. Give him some more time and you might be pleasantly surprised.

  • The next 3 weeks will give us a clearer picture of John. He looked OK today against a very bad team, but we'll see how he looks the next 3 weeks against real NFL teams........... If he does look good, then Walter and the rest of the John Fan Club Boyz will be free to start all the 'Johnny is Great' threads they want, and I might not even mind..........Time will tell
