    I agree Flugs-the longer the selection of HC and GM, the less we have time to select quality assistant coaches. One thing that impressed me about the Chiefs's staff was how well the assistants were selected by the HC.

    Don't forget Haslem did say he wants to retain some of the coaches from Pettine's staff. So does that make it seem more like we are looking at a 1st time HC?

  • On top of being able to hire him earlier, would a guy like Hue Jackson and his experience volume be a more attractive recruit to potential assistants for this gig?

    All this stuff comes into play.

    I welcome the only Defensive Coordinator to earn a Superbowl Ring in New Orleans while understanding Revenge of the Nerds is a sequel. "Come get some!"

    That's true Mike whether you meant it or you were being sarcastic. Only he and Tom Cable won as many as 8 games in 1 season dating all the way back to 2002. He only got 1 year and I'd take 8 wins from any Head Coach in his first year after inheriting the cumulative effect of chaos and confusion in Cleveland. BB didn't even win at least 8 games in any season here until his 4th year if memory serves me right.

  • Well the Falcons have resigned their GM. Guess Scott Piolli may still be assistant GM. If this FO was not run like a Attorney Firm, Piolli & Patricia sure sounds like one 😉

    I like Hue and Patricia as pretty good options who will work with the front office and it's new plans.

  • I'd like to see some talent acquisition before I get s chub over a coaching change.

  • I would like to see a coach in first. Nobody wants to come into a predefined set up with players and assistant coaches.

    I should have been clearer. They need to hire a coach ASAP. I just am not going to think playoffs next year based on the coach that is chosen. The team is talentless for the most part.

  • One change I wouild like the NFL to make is to not allow coach hunting to begin until after the Superbowl.

  • Wish we knew some more details, like who are first choice is, and what kind of chances we have at getting him. Patricia is rumored to be into analytics, and his intelligence level makes him a prime fit for what we appear to be doing. Hue Jackson is my other candidate. That guy went something like 8-8 in Oakland one year, and I believe he was let go. I could be wrong. Anyways, I think he's a solid choice. I'm just antsy about who we're going to get.

    Patricia has only interviewed with 1 team...the Browns. He can't interview with any other team at this point until the Patriots are out of the playoffs - most will likely have filled their vacancies by then. If Patricia and Browns mutually want each other we will likely know a bit before it's official.

    Jackson is interviewing with the Giants, I'm sure one of SF/CLE/NYG will make him an offer - which one he prefers though is only up for speculation, I speculate SF though.
