And the rookie will play, because McCown isn't lasting 16 games, he didn't last one quarter last year.
Agree... but the plan will be to let the Rook sit and learn as long as possible or until he's ready... which ever is shorter... but hopefully not too short.
So just to be contrary if that takes four, six or eight games somebody can truthfully say 'well this kid couldn't even beat out a 38 year old career back up!" It would be a valid argument?Agree... but the plan will be to let the Rook sit and learn as long as possible or until he's ready... which ever is shorter... but hopefully not too short.

If, after 8 weeks, he didnt even know how to call a play in the huddle. Then, yes, it would be.

If we get this kid I'm going to track you bastards to make sure no one dogs him if he doesn't become an instant Superbowl QB.

But of course you made that up. So should a rookie sit for a year to learn or not? I mean seriously whoever the veteran is has many years more experience.
When would you expect any rookie be ready to overcome years of experience?

No, Joe Thomas made it up. But I think the best player should always be the starter. Period.

So you were pissed off when Austin Davis started?
WSS
Not at all. Im glad he had the maturity and sense of responsibility to be prepared and know the plays. And I rarely get pissed about anything football. Just people who dont man up or even try.

Goff is a bum people are saying dumb shit like that because Rodgers was over looked. Remember Rodgers went to a good organization with a good team and took farves spot. He did not walk into a dumpster fire. Goff sucks I watched a lot of him this year average qb in an bad PAC 12 pass on him

When the rookie is the real deal?

On-field performance is way too late to start expectations management...
First have to muzzle the prospect. Then have to herd the legions of arriving fans.

Everybody knew the plays in Johnny's second season. That was never an issue regardless of season 1.
And he wasn't demoted behind Davis because of his play was he? I'll answer for you. No.
