How To Get A Qb

  • I dont think we should get rid of Manziel. He has on-field potential. The last thing we need is for him to go elsewhere and get his shit together. We dont need the couple mill, and you definitely wont find a better 3rd QB. Unless we can snag anything that matters in a trade we should keep him.

Third string QBs simply cannot be a source of distraction...

Manziel is too expensive to keep around as a third string qb. Johnny has been far too distracting this past season. Sashi laid down the exact rules Manziel must follow to remain with the Browns. The betting odds are he won't be able to.

I don't see the risk-benefit payoff with Bradford.

He has really only had half a season when he was threatening to breakout of the middling pack of NFL QBs... and then he missed a full year.

Since then he failed to distinguish himself from the pack and found new ways to be injured.

But then we all have our favorite "bums"... 😉

We do, and after 5 years of undistinguished play I think you can make that call.

More like "in our future"... I know I am already apathetic.

A Cost doesn't matter. Dead cap money is the same no matter how you spend it.

B third string behind the likes of Austin Davis just for spite is stupid.

Just as a game of NFL chess Father Michael has made it a lot harder to trade him for even a low pick and let someone else take over the payments.

Even if the haters are completely correct.

(a point I don't concede but it probably doesn't matter now)

  • My question to all Browns fans and staff why the hell do we have to get a qb. McCown is good and good enough to win he just needs weapons ( Gordon bowe? Pick up zeke)

The reality is we are more than 1 year away from contention. Mccown doesn't have much more than 1 year left in the tank (it's not like he's an all pro, either. He probably can't even make it 16 games)

By that logic if Hue names him our starter right now, then we should still be able to get a 2nd for him.

  • By any logic that die has been cast. Saint Mike made his point, and lost his job. Probably doesn't matter now. It might have a couple months ago.

McCown is 36. Peyton Manning he ain't. Josh was hurt twice last year- no more reliable than Tony Romo. Please- you should get a kiddie timeout for even mentioning the million dollar a catch Bowe. You haven't figured out Bowe sucks? Zeke Elliot would be a good pick for the Browns, but not at #2. We need a long term answer at quarterback- everyone and their grandmother says so. FYI, McCown is not the long term answer. You can win with a so-so running attack, if your quarterback is good enough. Or you miss the Denver- Patriots game?

I can't stress this enough, but Cam Newton might be changing the game. Not because of what he necessarily does on the field, but because of how deeply intertwined he is with this city outside of it. Cam is having a great season, but I believe he is affecting the team in an equally positive way in the locker room, community, and sidelines.

That's what the Browns need. A legitimate alpha male who turns this entire franchise around because he's too proud to associate with a loser. Only then will this franchise completely leave this losing shit in the past.

I'll admit I believed Johnny could have been that, lord knows he had enough of an aura around him...but not in the positive way. Alas, I was wrong, as it turns out he's just a weasel piece of shit who can't put down the bottle.

We need a guy who comes in and puts this team on his back, and we need to stick with him through the learning curve. Don't veil some sort of bullshit competition or try to enforce some high school tough love garbage mantra.

I think we'd all be willing to overlook whatever apparent disabilities Johnny had on-field had he been buried in his playbook and had zero off-field concerns.

You can also win with a good ground attack, which I think will be back for us this year. This offense with an actual running game plus Gordon, even led by McCown, is something I'm pretty excited about next year.

But Belichik isn't using a slide rule to pick his talent. He won a SB with a rag tag OL including a walk on. Sushi and Paul De-pants-pissed -a don't know fuck about finding diamonds in the rough.

I heard that De-pants-pissed-a called a meeting to insist we bring back Josh Cribbs because he gets on base a lot. This team is a cluster-fuck waiting to happen. Oh, wait, it already happened. The Browns ARE a Clusterfuck.

The Browns are the only franchise who finish 4 -12 and print shorts for the following year that say "RE-PEAT"

You should find a different team.

Tom, the only reason Bellichick can pull that off with a rag tag offensive line and relative crap receivers can be stated in two words- TOM BRADY. Oh, I'll have to assume you watched the Championship game today- where Brady's rag-tag offensive line resembled a sieve, and Tom didn't look quite so terrific when he was getting the mortal shit beat out of him. That would be the reason every GM in the league drafts stud offensive line high, when the opportunity presents itself.

It's way more than just drafting big fat guys- this from ESPN

"All those unspoken fears the Patriots harbored about their occasionally porous offensive line became tangible nightmares on Sunday afternoon, when a vicious, relentless and spectacular Broncos defense accomplished with flair the one thing it knew would lead the Broncos to victory: pummeling the daylights out of Tom Brady.

Brady was sacked four times, but that number easily could have been higher had the quarterback not deftly thrown the ball away on multiple occasions just before he got drilled. In all, he absorbed 23 quarterback hits in this game, the most bruising performance he has endured all season, perhaps even in his career."

If you want to know, the Browns offensive line coach sucked- it wasn't talent- and McCown got himself hurt because he has zero internal clock. If you noticed, Brady did an excellent job avoiding at least 4 sacks throwing the ball away at the last possible second. McCown just stands there like a doofus and gets obliterated.

So yeah- maybe Sushi and Repo will fail- but it won't be any worse than it was this past season.

We should draft a homosexual cocksucker. It seems he would be in good company for a lot of "inside - out" type thinkers.

Get a fucking QB. I don't care how many failed picks it takes. The QB is where EVERYTHING............. offense AND defense begins.

So? No wonder you are always on Kordel's case....you really DO want a gay QB.

Well... don't think I see a QB in this Draft filling that bill. When has there been? Winston? Luck? Griffin?

I think the evidence of finding adequate, complementary, rag-tag support for over a decade precisely supports a slide-rule approach. Identifying value to fill needs.

But it is not Bill's slide rule... it's his personnel counterpart's. Bill's genius is building around the strengths of who he is given while hiding their weaknesses.

He's also pretty good I think at spotting strengths that haven't been seen by others, or masked by weaknesses. Of course, it's a lot easier to do this When your QB is Tom Brady, not Brady Quinn.

  • True, but we have to remember that QBs are not immune to his magic, e.g., Matt Cassel.

Would Brady have had the career he has had under another HC in another org?

Sure, you can maximise strengths and minimise weaknesses of all positions, it's just very handy that a guy like brady has huge strengths and not so many weaknesses. He's not exactly a running threat, for example, and their scheme doesn't exactly churn out all-pro rushing backs, yet they still manage to keep Ds from just blitzing every down.
