    So? You think that Budweiser and PBR and Coors are the best brews around?

    Even I, a non beer lover know better than that.

    I'm not afraid to say that within its own category there's no more consistent American beer any better than Budweiser.

    I don't particularly like that genre of beer but it is what it is.

    You got it Steve- it's amazing Bud can churn out millions of gallons of the stuff, and every one is exactly like the last one.

    Ha, you definitely haven't drank many micro brews if that's the case and I'm not talking about the random one or two on tap at Buffalo wild wings. I much prefer a micro brew but will still drink a bud or similar if I'm at a party. I won't drink that piss water everyone is happy to throw down tho. Bud light, Miller lite etc. It's not fucking hipster to enjoy better tasting beer and some of it is just a matter of adjusting your palate. Micro brews most of the time have so much more flavor than the watered down piss most drink its a shock to the mouth and you must adjust. Is someone a steak snob if they would rather eat filet mignon? Lol

    & some people really don't like all that extra flavor. To each their own. I don't expect Bud or Coors to go out of business any time soon.

    @erie-dawg said:

    It figures you would be that "Guy" Hey roll up your skinny jeans and tell me a good craft beer story.

    Well, based on those videos, you apparently have an axe to grind with beer snobs. Got an inferiority complex because all you like is a mass market American beer? Yeah some people take their beer appreciation over the top. & if all you like is Bud, Miller, or Coors- that's fine. The beer snob is just taking their que from the wine snob crowd. I don't see anything wrong if you want to discuss the difference in the types of hops used in your beer. I can't tell the difference. But I will say- the only people that should be drinking Lite beers are the folks who are fanatic about watching their weight. You can only take the calories out of beer by taking the alcohol out.

    Oh, and get ready for the next snob attack- the Bourbon Snob. http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/bourbon-snobbery/

    @gftchris said:

    I think the bud we get here is closer to the czech original. It's still marketed as american though, so I'm not sure. Either way, it's piss water. Fizzy flavourless piss.

    Well, your fellow Brits Howie and G-Man are partial to Guinness. Yeah- they wanted to sell the real, original Budjovice here in the US, but Budweiser got upset about it, and made them brand it as Czechvar, even though the original Czech brewery has Anheuser-Busch beat by centuries. I'd hazard a guess Erie Dawg didn't know that.

    LOL, it's the slow season TCPO. You should have been here in "The Dark Years" the three seasons post the betrayal- when we really didn't have much to talk about. 😁

    I was told it was good old USA Bud... and, Gip, it was being served ice cold.

    I am incapable of drinking An-Busch beers. Headache blooms before half of it is down. Perhaps it's beechwood induced.

    Amberbock does the same shit to me. I get a hangover before I finish the first one.

    Shoot me an email. It's my username @yahoo. Wanted to run some things by you.

    I think my PMs are still unusable as a result of a ban I had a month or two ago, otherwise I'd send you one.

  • It's WAY EARLY, and I know that, but Wentz is starting to pick up a bunch of steam as a result of senior bowl practices. He's going to get a bunch a pub, and fans are probably going to nutso over Wentz's size and intelligence. So if Goff is gone, perhaps we still get our QB at #2. Remember when Bortles went to the Jags at a pick where many people said it was "early"? I could see us drafting Wentz, and essentially "redshirting" him next year. Again, it's early, so don't bite my head off, but if Wentz continues to build momentum like I think he's going to, AND obviously our talent gurus are sold on the kid, then we have our guy. I haven't done any research on Wentz, other than watch some videos, but I like what I see so far.

  • My wife loves that chocolate stout...

    My fav stout is still Beamish Black. I've still only found one place in the states that carries it, Flying Saucers in Little Rock, AR. Supposedly since then the brewery was bought by Heinekens and they have limited its export.

    They also make an excellent Oatmeal Stout. I like them both. Picked me up some of my fav Trappistes Rochefort 10 today to spoil my son-in-law at dinner tonight.

    (It may be what he will best at)

  • I'm not crazy about stouts but I grabbed a bottle of the speedway stout last week and it was delicious (never had it before).

    Tour was that Europe, or over here? The original stuff from the Czech Republic isn't even close to American Budweiser. Czechvar- what they have to call it in the USA- is closer in taste to Pilsner Urquell. I suppose I should be proud of my Czech ancestry- because they invented pilsners. 🙂

    AB claimed they owned the American rights to the name. Here's a history of the dispute if you're interested- there's another on Wiki

    Bah- humbug Steve. I'm the anti-hop. Remember the Keystone Lite "Bitter Beer Face" ads? As in anything else, you can overdo it. I'm waiting for some brew pervert to stuff a hop cluster in each bottle for added kick, just like they put a worm in a Mescal bottle. Give me a Great Lakes Dortmunder for everyday swill. 🙂

    OH- when I'm in a mood for some heavy stuff, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, Blackout Stout, Sam Smith's Oatmeal or Taddy Porter. I can't get into Howie's Guinness kick though.

    I think White Rajah and Headhunter are the two best IPA you can buy. Don't really like Dortmunder. You live in Texas? Or someplace fucked up right? Or are you here in God's country? If you are here you should treat yourself to a visit to the Hopping Frog in South Akron.

    Fred is a great brewer but he really leans heavily to the high octane stouts.

    Hate to do it again, but Ballast Point Sculpin is my favorite IPA.

    Stone RuinTen Triple IPA is pretty excellent too, unless you have to walk any time in the near future after imbibing.

  • I'm with hoorta-can't stand those bitter hoppy IPA's'. Gimme a good dark stout anytime, the heavier the better.
