I agree with you. I hired somebody recently to do a job for me and another fellow I know, his wife actually, said hey why didn't you call xxx?
I said because he's been on disability as long as I've known him!
Conversely I know a couple guys that really can't work and they take home a pittance from disability.
Seems like if you cut off the ones who shouldn't have it you could spare a few extra bucks for the ones that should, right?
But like I say, follow the money. I see TV commercials all the time for legal firms who specialize in obtaining disability benefits.

It would suck to be so disabled you couldn't work to earn your way. To me it would be heartbreaking and I would feel less of a man. Is a goddamn shame.
Now I know people and I know that you know people that draw disability pay and they can fucking work. It's bullshit and everyone knows it. To each his own right? But however I'm paying taxes so these people can live for free.
I say propose a law that reconsiders people that draw free checks. Some sort of rechecking.
I know at least 5 people I could name that draw disability that have side jobs (that pay cash) that pay well. These people won't look me in the eye because they know I'm an honest guy and they best be thankful I'm not a snitch.

Same here. In those cases, this is a joke that is not funny.
FWIW, I know some so-called Veterans that are milking the system in their own devious ways.
I could name 5 people in each category. FWIW
Pretty much a problem whenever government funding is involved. Some may argue against 'Welfare' folks, some may argue against, "Fakers of other sorts", but the problem remains the same. Whenever 'free money' is involved, scammers will prevail.

Social Security disability is about to go broke because of a record amount of people on disability. The question to me is why do we have a record amount on disability today and how to eliminate those on disability who should not be on it.

The bad thing though is the way the government will *fix* the problem short term will be about a 20 percent decrease in benefits for everyone on disability. I don't want to see those who really need the help lose out but that will be the government's answer affecting the con artists and truly disabled alike.

They catch kids a lot who are not special ed in hs, but
they try to pretend to be,
so they can collect social security disability when
they graduate.
School psychologists have to weed them out. It's a gigantic mess.
Everybody can't go on the free ride. It's tragic so many need it.
But so many leech off the system, when they are fit to work,
and not injured or disabled in any way.
What a sad, pitiful subculture.

I know somebody who became a medicare-certified HHA (in the past year) and stays home all day to take care of their mother...while getting paid for it.
I also know somebody who has been convicted of receiving stolen property (felony) at age 18 - is now 25, diagnosed with schizophrenia but takes no meds - drives and owns a car, acts pretty normal (he isn't schizophrenic at all), and has been receiving disability checks and foodstamps for YEARS without a job or trying to find a job. He's 100% capable of working - not on meds, takes care of himself, has never been admitted to a psych ward once or shown any symptoms of having mental illness - he doesn't see a doctor regularly or anything.
Absolutely ridiculous on both counts, but there are a lot of people who do desperately need the assistance.

The dirty little secret that no one in here will acknowledge is how the job market handles an influx of let's say 2 million, typically unskilled & undereducated, workers?

What shocks me is our Great grand parents and grand parents etc, Would be to proud to ever accept such a handout but these people in todays world would stab their own child if it would help them get said handout. What a fucking joke.
