Will Mack stay or go?

That last contract was basically a two-year franchise tag, at below the going rate. So that was nice. But we did succession planning with Erving. Mack's as good as gone.

It'll be a nice story if Cam becomes a top Center after his disastrous rookie year. Kinga like Barny replacing the other Cam and actually improving the position for less money.

There's an article out there about most penalized guys at their position in our division ... and Cam led at RG and Johnny at QB even though they started a few games apiece. Sigh.

Cam has the talent though. He needs to get lower on these big guys and he can do that at Center.

    Huh?

Cam has an off-season to get stronger... that's the good news. The bad news is we seem destined to move to more of a power running game.

I really see us adding a road grader or two on Days 2/3 and UDFA. Great interior OL are AWOL this draft, but there is some good Day 2 value including some real maulers, plus a handful of Day 3 sleepers emerging.

Pick up a couple interior guys and see who among Cam, Bito and Greco can fill in at RT and maximize our OL.

I think they broke the Urban Meyer coming to the Cleveland Browns story.

  • It's a safe bet for them.

I think Mack has wanted out for some time now. He may be looking at less money elsewhere, but I don't think that'll phase him.

    "Multiple media sources"...

TV... radio... print... twitter... smoke signals... yodeling...

  • That report looks a little more optimistic than we have heard the past year. Guess he really did not like how things were going during Pet's & Farmer's time.

  • He's gone.. so be it.,

  • Who cares. Just fucking choose one way or the other, dude. I'm tired of reading about Mack and his apparent lack of desire to be in Cleveland.

Good point. Somebody else can pay for his diminishing skills.

  • I am no big fan like I am for Joe Thomas but he is skilled and I would really like to see the Browns stop letting all our skill players go to other teams. Look at the Broncos and how many past Browns are on their team (many starting).

  • Is center a skill player????......thing is, the Browns have no control, what so ever , over where Mack lands.....

Kind of the quarterback of the line right?

And I agree about keeping our good players but the ones we pissed away actually would have liked to be here I think. He doesn't.

  • I know the jury's still out on whether Marvin Lewis is a good coach or not, but he did one thing l kinda admired when he took over the Bengals years ago.

Despite perennially sucking, star running back Corey Dillon always had great seasons with the Bengals numbers wise. When Lewis took over word was Dillon wanted out, and indeed he did.

He had 2 years left on his contract, and l don't know if they cut him or traded him but he ended up with New England the next year and got his ring.

Point is Lewis seemed to wanna start fresh with guys who actually wanted to be there, and that seems like a good place to start to me.

  • Brought it back with the update that Mack can Opt out 5 days before March 9th. So March 4th seems like Mack goes back to his offer at Jags with C Wiesnewski going to FA market? Anybody see any hope here @ 8 mill. till 19?

"How many past Browns" - you mean TJ Ward?

Jordan Norwood is a backup punt returner, and no other Bronco is a former Brown

Both Hudson and Pouncey got 9M per season last year. A 1M/year raise is not huge, but maybe location has more to do with it.

Don't see why the Jags wouldn't go after him again to be honest, center is a need for them and they've got a boatload of cap space

Hmm. location. A Cal kid snapping the ball to a Cal QB in Goff. Hold on may need more coffee or Mack loves watching babes in a pool in Jacksonville. 9M may not do it either, good on Pouncey for doing nothing?

Mack is going to end up more concerned with guaranteed money than the difference between his salary and the Pounceys' money. Alex has burned through most of his guaranteed in his current deal and.... tada... now he gets to negotiate a new one. I hope he gave his agent a bonus...

What would in essence be a trade with Jax for Wiesnewski works for me... but Nick Martin works even better.

What round does Martin get picked in?.....If its later than 3, Im good.....otherwise, why not Wiesnewski?....he can step right in AND plays guard well....versatile, potty trained and ready to go!

  • If he goes we probably get a very high comp pick for him...let him go

And don't look back! Either buy in or bye bye bitch!!! GO BROWNS

RFA status is reserved for players with 3 accrued seasons. If Mack opts out it will be to UFA status, not RFA.

Likely 2nd, possibly 3rd... but I doubt it.

Martin, too, is plug'n'play at C or OG... not sure about the potty bit... but I'm in love, so leave me alone...
