  • Reagan's trickle down economics have been a disaster for this country. It's an establishment thing and its shameful that politicians still consider the theory valid. It's by far the biggest contributor to our deficit.

Clinton was not bad in regards to the deficit but there's a lot of other problems - he had a naturally booming economy and NAFTA became law under him, which will hopefully be taken care of soon.

While I'm not an outright Trump supporter, it is a joke that we love free trade while said trading partners rape us following different rules.

And I don't think it mattered it was Reagan, I think no matter who the current president was then they would have fallen for it and we'd be in mostly the same place.

Did Reaganomics Work and Would It Work Today?:

    http://useconomy.about.com/od/Politics/p/Reaganomics.htm

"...Reaganomics would fix stagflation by reducing government -- a policy that was dramatically different from the status quo. Reagan promised to reduce:

    • The growth of government spending
    • Both income and capital gains taxes
    • Regulation.
    • Inflation by controlling the growth of the money supply.

Reaganomics was based on the theory of supply-side economics, which states that tax cuts give companies more cash to hire new workers, expand their businesses and create a supply of goods and services. Cuts give workers more incentive to work, increasing the supply of labor. Eventually, economic growth expands the tax base enough to replace the government revenue initially lost from the cuts".

"...Inflation was tamed -- thanks to monetary, not fiscal policy. Reagan's tax cuts did end the recession. However, government spending wasn't lowered, just shifted from domestic programs to defense. The result? The Federal debt almost tripled, from $997 billion in 1981 to $2.857 trillion in 1989.

  • "That would be the 110th United States Congress, which had Democratic majorities in both houses. However, if you are postulating that the Democratic majority of that CongreS's"

Yes indeed. And in line with all the bullshit we hear about Obama did this or somebody else did that just because we play musical chairs, I'm pointing out that there is no crash until Democrats took over. Meaningful? Coincidence? You decide.

Just make note for when your girl Hilary brags about the economy under her old man.

  • put lipstick on this pig, libs. Don't miss the part about "for the first time ever".... on purpose.

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/national-debt-hits-19-trillion/article/2582097

  • National debt is now 19 trillion dollars and growing. If Obama is right that Bush was unpatriotic for accumulating a national debt of 9-10 trillion dollars under his presidency than Obama is downright traitorous taking us to 19 trillion under his presidency and will it be over 20 trillion by the time he leaves office.

  • The popular liberal refrain was how wrong it was for us to

put all that debt on "our children's future".

Now, you can hear snowflakes land when you listen to libs not talk about our debt.

  • Trump was on O'Reilly last night and Bill asked him numerous times how he would pay down the trillions of dollars in debt and Trump either would not or could not answer him. Trump just kept saying he would make our economy a dynamic economy. I agree with the principal of growing our way out of debt instead of scraping the bottom of the barrel to gouge and tax people to death. Still though we are so far in debt I don't think we can grow our way out of this without spending cuts.

If we cut taxes, government regulations, encourage job growth we can increase revenue and I would rather see us do that than more taxes that will do nothing but keep the economy stalled. After 7 years of Obama if his policies actually worked we would have seen some evidence of it by now. Some will point to lower unemployment but the way that unemployment figure is calculated is skewed and not accurate and everyone knows it.

  • and you watch the insistence by dems to recalc unemployment

if a rep gets into our WH.

The unemployment figures are calculated horribly and are not accurate. Everyone knows it. The real unemployment figure is much higher than the administration lists it at.

Probably something like average contracted hours would work for unemployment/underemployment.

Much higher than any administration has listed. No way to accurately track those who have timed out of payments and haven't found work.

Then there are considerations like underemployment and unstable employment.
